ok i love kings of leon and will always go see them when they come to australia! but in saying this i have found some points where i feel they are slipping away from me. these in my opinion are where in time i think the boys have started to lose it (in no particular order). 1.jared actually learnt how to play bass and he found a distortion/fuzz pedal 2. nathan found off beats this started in bott 3.they shaved the beards! the beards! 4.caleb stoped the check 1 2 3! that was awsome 5.caleb cut his hair short! 6.matt found a effects bored 7.nathan got rid of the pink kit 8.caleb, matt and jared got into fashion-leave that to the kooks. 9.they are getting into relationships, this is starting to ruin there dirty image.
and my final one is.... sex on fire! it has ruined the kings for all true fans. no longer will it be easy to get a kings of leon concert ticket, and everyone one thinks they are a huge fan because of this one song!
i still love them dont get me wrong, and the first time i listened to holy roller novocaine ep, it changed my musical life.
i would like to see what other people have to say on this topic.

I agree with 3 4 5 7 & 8. The others are true but i dont think they have had a bad effect on the band. This just isnt their best album. i would like to add a number 10. Caleb doesnt scream anymore, theres like 1 tiny 1 in notion and thats it (correct me if im wrong but thats the only one i recall) It used to send a chill down my spine and id melt at the knees Saying this OBTN has still been in the cd player in my car since it came out ive only swapped it once for ASH.

i wouldn't say nathan found off beats in BOTT...listen to razz, it is full of off beats!
and to me it's totally normal that matt uses more effects. imagine you'd be a little poor guitar player. then your band starts getting bigger, you earn money...do you still want to play the same 'poor' equipment you bought when you didn't have a lot of money? i wouldn't...my guitar is a very cheap one, thanks to whoever it's sound is still great and i love to play it, but as soon as i have much more money, i'll buy another guitar. over the last years i bought so much more equipment for my guitar. you just want to develop as a musician. it's totally normal. i'd agree if you'd say that matt uses the same effect in a lot of songs...but it's his choice and imo it sounds brill. though i DO miss his wild guitar solos like in razz or pistol of fire or red morning light or even charmer.

im just hoping that kol come back for album number 5, with an absolute belter of an album ! if not, i fear we (real, time-served KOL fans) will relagated to listening to albums 1,2 and 3 for the rest of our lifes ? and the new fans will be all battling for kol tickets etc? i hope not ! still songs like Closer are brilliant songs, but it still dosnt feel like KOL used to ... does it

Seriously? What? He learnt how to play bass and they therefore lost something?

ahh i say they've still got it me too! for me, in no way shape or form have they lost it. their new album is 100% still kol, and people are allowed to become fans after hearing sex on fire, we've all gotta start somewhere! although there are tons of phonies out there acting like they're their biggest fans... drives me mad!

Considering I just saw them on Saturday, I would say that they have lost absolutely nothing. Yes, there were a lot of people who probably didn't recognize a lot of their songs, but you don't have to hear a band from their beginnings to appreciate their music. And musically they are just changing. You can't expect them to stay the same forever. I don't know why anyone would want them to. Pretty much, see them live (again) and it might help you appreciate all of their songs for the first time or all over again. Oh, and Sex on Fire live kicks a whole lot of posterior.

Hmm.. well the only thing that bugs me about them is the fact some people looove Sex on Fire and haven't a clue about any other songs. Really gets on my nerves, and i'll bet there will be people at the gigs like that. Basically i hate people who like JUST singles and will never listen to an album in their life. arghh.
and yeah, they lost the sexy hair. but i can cope with that.

I'm sure at some point in time EVERY fan knew one of their songs and then began listening to others and grew to love them, whether it was Mollys, The Bucket, Sex on Fire or whatever, thats life, build a bridge!!!

(first time i saw modest mouse, i only knew "float on" their popular song.) but i didn't pretend to be a hard-core fan, which i think is what annoys most people.

What if this album has sneaked under the general public's radar like the other 3?
Bet you would all love it and Sex On Fire would be a masterpiece.
Who gives a shit if they're famous now, doesn't mean the music that made them famous is shit. They were just marketed better this time around.
