I actually joined this board a couple years ago when I had tix to see the Kings in Boston. They no-showed last minute for Calebs hangover. Then I won tickets to see them @ the Paradise in Boston and Caleb threw a tantrum, spit @ the crowd and stormed off. This was supposed to be the makeup show for the no-show. I've seen them ten times because I love the first three records. I get annoyed with people like Lauralimonada that can't handle a fan being upset with one of their favorite bands. You probably care more about their looks then their music. You can't handle their selling out which they obviously did. I used to love the band til I found out they love themselves more. They sound great live but have a horrible stage presence. You probably love everything they do Laura. Sawyer, I'm not quoting you to drag up what you said about Laura, everyone knows it's rude nonsense and she sticks up for herself I did want to comment on your experience with those two gigs, though. What you say happened sucks and I too would have been upset by it. It's a legitimate grievance. I haven't actually heard this before, or about any other gigs; occasionally ( and it is occasionally) people have commented that a band member wasn't especially friendly after a gig but that's been about it. You could argue that this being a fan forum, the people here are going to be (self- selecting) people who've had good experiences - why would we hear much bad stuff? I think though it is probably more the case that that may be explained by being a bad day. And we know Caleb has used drugs and also drinks (how did you know it was due to a hangover? they can't have made that as an announcement) - maybe you and the others there were just unfortunate to have been the ones it happened to. I'm not at all trying to detract from your experience, just that personally I wouldn't let that completely define my opinion of them as people, just as I don't let some of your.... shall we say ....... more aggressive posting completely define my opinion of you. You've expressed your opinion, made some really good points, and I understand that you feel very let down by KOL. I just want to be clear on this as I think I may have come across as dismissing your opinion or trying to shut you up - not the case. However, maybe you can understand why you upset people by the way you say things? (more than by your opinion) Also, I came on here shortly after you made your posts (so many!!- I was gobsmacked!) on the 31st ...... and I just thought you really needed to have a vacation, or a lie down or something Not sure, like Kim, what a noob is, but I guess I probably am one.

Don't worry Kim- why would I like a band for their music? OMG it's all about Caleb's baby blues, Jared's chin, Nathans luscious locks and Matt's dimples... I mean, why the heck would I have spent thousands (seriously thousands) of dollars traveling around to see a band? Of course it was to see their gorgeousness in person! I mean, youtube videos can only do so much! Music? What music? I wear super-strength ear plugs at all the shows! Why contaminate the juicy goodness with noise???! haha, laura your such a legend. have some karma for making me laugh

Will somebody tell me how Kings Of Leon did not sell out. Odd...since when did becoming globally successful equal selling out? People change, bands change, music changes - if you don't like the music, don't listen to it. And don't insult the people who do. x

You're right, being sucessful isn't selling out, it amounts to the same thing (unfortunatly) but it's much less bad.

I think what he's getting at is that they're now writing more radio-friendly [hence - mainstream] music.
I'm fed up of all this selling out crap. Bores me to tears. Same thing happened with MCR. Those very same people who whined about their favorite band not getting the recognition they so rightly deserved, are the same ones whining now that they're becoming too globally successful.
There's just no happy medium with some folks.

yeah they absolutely lost it. the girlfriends kinda give it a weird vibe. i got to meet jessie baylin at her concert, and she's completely wonderful, so i'm thinking if i actually met all of them i'd like them... but it's just kind of a BUMMER. there's no like blantant fucking around with the fans or any delicious innuendos in the lyrics. i saw the use somebody video and i was like oh for GOSH SAKE THIS SONG IS ABOUT LILY FREAKING ALDRIDGE??!?!
shwatttt guys?? don't put your girlfriends in your video, that's tacky tacky tacky! i don't need to see jared make out with alisa, that's their business!
their videos just bug me now. sex on fire is just "ooo lets make caleb look all sexual" which is fabulous to some extent... but it's just like oh come ON.
and does anyone else notice that their clothing is getting pretty freaking LIMITED? it's like... black jeans that arent as skinny and tight as they used to be... a white tee shirt or some other neutral color... possibly a vest... boots.
caleb, please put on a multicolored horizontally stripped female sweater and write me a decent song.

Haha you summed up so much in that and I agree whole heartedly! What happened to the awesome Jack Daniels shirts, the vintage rock tee shirts, the sweaters, the ripped jeans, the cool edge??? Now it's just cut off shirts, vests, bland colors, and glossy hair...sigh

Seeing the Use Somebody video made me feel kinda the same way. It kinda reminds me of a boy band music video with the making out and walking around lookin upset and that. I'm not calling KOL a boy band btw! haha
