Shouldn't we be talking about this amazing song? I can't stop wondering at the inventiveness, the use of the pulses of guitar building up that close atmosphere. It's really original and different, I've never heard any song approached in quite that way before. What an opener. Credit where it's due.

Closer and Cold Desert are probably the two most haunting, emotional tracks the Kings have written, and i think, two of their best tracks.

I was listening to Closer whilst walking around today, and I found myself drawn away from the world. this does happen everytime i listen to KOL anyway, but this time round it was so wierd. It was like time just passed me by and I was in a different place listening to these beautiful lyrics. I love it!

Closer is such an amazing song... I keep on wondering off into my own world... I think I am going to turn it off.. Hours have passed and I only have a few more to write my 2000 word essay (only 300 words in ) But yeah... hauntingly amazing song!

Yeah. I first heard the intro on this very cheap CD player in the bedroom. I couldn't believe that the sound of it would surprise me so much. I took it off pretty quick because I wanted to hear it on a better player but that first blast was pure surprise. That's what it is with me, KOL are surprise, even within what they already do, there's this new stuff. And people don't like that. Some people don't. They want to know exactly what they're getting. I've seen so many bands just sit back and do more and more of what they already did, because that's what they think they have to do, or out of laziness, because they've got where they want to be. So many bands just say, okay, now we have to get heavier each time to prove we are still heavy and not going soft. That's death to the creativity. It happens so often. I think it is to their credit that they refuse that kind of dull response. They will still be making different and worthwhile records for years to come if they can shut their ears to some of what's being said. This was bound to happen, it's like the undertow after the big wave and there's no way they could escape it, they just have to wait for the stupidity to die down. Closer, though. Served up just that kind of thing which can only come from playing around with the sound and that's creativity. But it can never be exactly what people expect it to be. That's the joy of it.

calebs voice at the start is chilling especially wen he says stranded in this spooky town, brilliant song, the little pulse sound just adds so much to it.

And Closer is real moreish, isn't it?
