Ya I have to say I rate this song also...its a little eerie and dark and moody...unfortunately its about the only thing that I like on the album.

Closer is such an amazing song... I keep on wondering off into my own world... I think I am going to turn it off.. Hours have passed and I only have a few more to write my 2000 word essay (only 300 words in  ) But yeah... hauntingly amazing song! Ha ha i always get distracted by this awesome forum when i'm trying to write essays |

Wonder who came up with that sound....i know Caleb mostly does the lyrics but the theme of the song doesn't really seem like him somehow...I know that prob sounds weird!!

Am I the only one who doesn't really like this one?  I mean, it is amazing, and I do love the atmosphere...it just that it ends up being skipped often in my cd player. Then again, I love 17 (bells and all) so I don't know if I should talk. |

The start is also a bit like whales, which doesn't fit at all.
I think there's a strong 'sea' kind of vibe to this though.
I was on a beach and saw a storm coming in from the sea once - really heavy black clouds, thunder, lightning striking the sea - really dark and scary. I see it still when I listen to this song.

Closer has shot up into my top songs of all time. I think the effects and Calebs voice are just haunting and I can't just listen to it once. Such a beautiful song, don't understand how anyone could slate an album with a song like this on it. Thanks for the links on page 2 (I think!) by the way, off to have a gander at them now. EDIT: Having looked at the vids and read this thread to find out how the effects were done, I have even more love for this song. So much imagination went into the sounds and I just think it's incredible. Also worth noting that Caleb sounds absolutely flawless singing it live |
