Jas, if you read what people have said many have said they dont want ASH part 2 but an album more akin to ASH than OBTN. There is a difference!

Aside from a few tracks I don't think much of OBTN approaches the lyrical brilliancy of ASH. One of the things I would like from their next album - which I don't want rushed - is consistently strong lyrics. It's part of what gives this band its depth. Oh and Prince - he's a phenomenon - but when I want to listen to Prince I know where to find him. I'd like the Kings to find their own way - they have so much to build on I'm really curious to find out what that will be. Can I kiss you??? I will anyway Well that's made my day - thanks, hun - have one back But Jasmine, where would the fun be if we didn't get all passionate about this silly idea?? Well I thought it was fun anyway.

As long as they take their time it should be fine.
Remember what Jared said about OBTN? He said it was more like ASH and that they were tackling their Southern roots again but none of them were really true so I'm not holding my breath until I hear anything.
Which won't be for a while I assume.

^ yeah that's pretty much what we're all sayin. Taking their time would be best And hey, for those who are skeptical about upbeat songs actually being on the new record because of what Jared said about OBTN, have you ever considered the fact that Nathan is speaking about it this time around? (this sounds rude, but I'm just generally asking!) I mean, do you guys think that Nathan has more credibility? I'm pretty sure I have more trust in him than in Jared when it comes to this. Jared is kind of wary about everything anyway

I agree with everyone who is all for change. Me personally i didnt even like KOL until i heard OBTN. What happens when a band puts out the same cd every time for their whole career? You get AC/DC Seriously i cant tell the stuff from the 70's from the new stuff,i cannot believe they sell out arenas within days. *shakes head* You don't even need a brain to listen to them. Ahh you didn't like them UNTIL OBTN?? Oh man that really makes me sad. Everyone's entitled to like whatever they want and I'm just glad you like them but really this one? None of their albums sound similar to the last and they have changed and grown with each album but OBTN is just terrible. It almost doesn't even sound like them because it's so cheesy and popish to me. It sounds like every other band on the radio and that's not what Kings are about, they're better than that. Well compared to their old stuff, yeah OBTN DOES sound poppish, but compared to real pop,OBTN sounds like a unique masterpiece. And yeah i am a very new KOL fan,99% of what i like is from the new cd,although there are still a few songs on it i don't care for. But i got into them from hearing Sex on Fire and i haven't heard most of their old stuff except for 30-second samples on iTunes. But i dont consider myself a cheesy commercial pop fan, although i like artists like Fall Out Boy and David Cook,i also like obscure unknown prog-rock bands that have never seen and will never see the top 100 billboard chart.

^^ It's alright that you're a new fan rockchick26 but I'm sure everyone on here would encourage you to listen to KOL's older stuff too when you get the chance. P.S. It seems you registered this month - Welcome!

Is it really that big of a deal, liking OBTN? Are those who do like that album any lesser a fan than those who liked them from the beginning? What exactly are people trying to prove when they try and belittle someone for liking this particular album? (I'm generalizing here, so no one take it personal) lol This is so wierd, cuz i think i'm the only person in here who thinks OBTN is the best! All the same,as long as people like ANY of it,that's success in my book as far as the band should be concerned. I just saw an interview where Nathan was saying the same thing, they can't really keep putting the same album out. I don't think any band thinks thats a good thing (except AC/DC lmao) [/i] That was a joke... [/quote] Joking or not,i'm all for that idea!

It seems you registered this month - Welcome! yes i'm very new, just joined a few days ago. I introduced myself in 2 different threads explaining my story about how i got into the band, expecting to have rotten food thrown at me As for their older stuff,i really strongly disliked the singles (On Call,Charmer,Four Kicks) and the rest of the songs i have only heard like 30 seconds of and i don't really want to buy them all knowing that i don't like what i've heard so far LOL That isnt to say that i wouldn't like some of the songs if i could hear them all. But it's a lot to spend money on if you don't really hear anything that makes you want to buy them. UGH i cannot say this nicely, but i'm trying

I understand what you're saying, I mean, I wouldn't want to spend money on stuff I didn't like either but if you get the chance (maybe someone you know has their albums or something) give it a try. To be honest I didn't like On Call or Charmer much to begin with either but they've since grown on me.

I've been a fan for four years, but if someone called me that, I would take no offense because I like the damn song, and so did a lot of people when it was first released. Of course, it's so cool to hate on the new album. Who knows? OBTN might end up being one of their best albums down the road.

As for their older stuff,i really strongly disliked the singles (On Call, Charmer,Four Kicks) Two of my favourite KOL songs! haha. I'm sure you'll grow to like them when I first heard Charmer I was like wtf is this :-\. Oh yeahh, I would rather them make and album that sounds more like ASH (or even Y&YM, although I'm sure that no one else would agree with me about that ha). I wouldn't like OBTN part 2 or something that sounds stadium rock again. I personally think their older songs are better live.
