Kings Of Leon start on fifth album
Monday, December 8 2008, 23:40 GMT
By Simon Reynolds, Entertainment Reporter Kings Of Leon start on fifth album
Rex Features Kings Of Leon's Nathan Followill has disclosed that the rock group are "four or five songs" into their new LP.
The drummer told BBC 6 Music that new tracks are being refined during sound checks for their tour.
"We're probably four or five songs into the next record, I'd say. We do all of our writing in sound checks, so you have a month-long tour, that's 25 sound checks," he explained. "You can get up there and at least work on ideas and kind of pick the direction you want to go in for the next record."
Discussing the next album's sound, Followill added: "A little more rhythmic, a little more fun. Not as, I don't want to say depressing, but not as droney, not as anthemic, or dramatic melodies."
The band's last record Only By The Night was released three months ago and debuted at number one in the UK album chart. Sounds more ASH/BOTT..........................*hopefully*

That's the important thing, they need to take it slow and let this album run its course first.

sounds good, I think OBTN was just a phase! Hopefully they've got that out of their system

It sounds encouraging so far. I agree with not rushing it - both for the music and because I think some down time for the band to recharge their batteries would be good. I don't want them to burn themselves out.

So long as Prince is somehow involved, I'm fine with whatever they choose to do.

What is normal exactly? with OBTN i didn't feel like i was listening to the kings...i felt like i was listening to a polished, over-produced version...and so by normal i mean...i hope they go back to what they used to be...that doesn't mean i don't want them to mature or anything...just as long as they bring some o' that ol' kings of leon quirky stuff back

hopefully less vicodin more wine Exactly what I thought when I first heard OBTN. Vicodin and alcohol is not a good mix for their music. Straight booze, weed, and occasional cocaine is.

I'd rather no drugs or alcohol personally. I'm indifferent, so long as it's not country music they do next. Blah... I wouldn't mind if they start rapping and call the album, "Wassup"?
