Charmer is kind of screechy and I thought it was too Pixies when I first became aquainted with it but I love it now.

*BUMP* Just reviving this thread as I have a KOL musical musing!! It’s probably just me but every time I listen to Camaro now it reminds me of SOF. They are nothing alike lyrically of course but they both have that sexy screechy guitar sound going on that sounds like it needs a good oiling. They both end with a similar sounding abruptness too. Just wanted to get that off my chest! Anyone else think bits are similar? Anyone care lol?

I think there's certain similarity. Also the bassline to Notion (at least I think it's Notion) reminds me of the bassline to Arizona for some reason.

Camaro and SOF - I agree to Han, there's something about the guitar effect.
Do you think the Manhattan - Arizona thing is to do with mood? or what?

hey i dont know where to post this, here looks like as good a place as any so here goes. is nacho in the vid for four kicks?? i was watching the other day (for like the millionth time) and i was like omg is that nacho, am i being really stupid on not having noticed this before or really stupid in seeing something that is not there haha.... either way i love KOL and reading everything that everybody has wrote is just amazing! i could try and add stuff in but it seems everybody has already written it and they feel what i feel about KOL. without sounding really corny (a word i have picked up form caleb i might add lmao) they have had such a huge impact on so many different peoples lives, their music is just like the best thing i ever heard and i love everything about them they are truly amazing, i personally think every song they have done is great!! and as well as being amazing talented and extremely good looking they are also really seem like really really nice guys i am truly obsessed & i love them ♥ x

Mair - yes Nacho is in the Four Kicks video. You can see him pretty clearly right at the start. He's sat down!! Mandy - not sure what you're getting at with the mood thing. Is it maybe they didn't want to just end the songs because of their subject?? I'm really not sure what I just said makes sense, lol I wanna know what you mean! We love our song debates!

^^Han, I've got my anorak on with the hood up and I'm ready! hehe I don't think it's a mood thing - I listened again and I don't see it that way - just wasn't sure what you meant. Both have pretty melodic music to them. Arizona has a lot of instrumental around the verses, doesn't it? 1:53 minutes of instrumental outro - that's a third of the track! It's so good. Manhattan also has a pretty long outro at about 50 seconds - I s'pose they could have made more of it if they wanted too. I think there's certain similarity. Also the bassline to Notion (at least I think it's Notion) reminds me of the bassline to Arizona for some reason. Me too! and the reason is..................................................................they ARE similar!!!!!!!!!!! Arizona bassline where they are similar has just a couple of extra notes, and the rhythm is similar too Why waste a good idea just cos you used it once before - recycle! - it's ecologically friendly bass playing!! I know so many of us keep saying it, but Arizona is just so good. I don't know why it wasn't on the radio everywhere. ( mind you, there IS the whorehouse - that would probably be reason right there ) edit- Mind you 'House of the Rising Sun' featured a brothel and that was in the 60's edit2- But I s'pose it wasn't actually called a whorehouse. And the song was saying the whole thing was bad. Think I just answered myself.

I think the fact that both have instrumental outros are what makes me think they’re similar. I’ve noticed in Manhattan live Matt adds on a little extra guitaring so they could definitely have made something more of it but it’s still amazing as it is. As you must know I love everything about Arizona, hell I started a thread on it! So it’s safe to say I think it has the best outro ever!! I wouldn’t want anything changed about it.

the thing I love is that they have fans of all ages. Not many young bands can say that. While they have lots of girls with raging hormones in the front rows, the rest of the places they play is usually filled with people of all ages, and men, lots of men! I'm telling ya, I'm a huge tegan and sara fan, but being in a venue with lots of MEN in stead of lesbians is so relieving hahaha.
I've been into their music ever since Aha Shake.., but the moment I realised they might be my ultimate favourites was the day I saw them play at the Pukkelpop festival two years ago. I think they're the band of our generation, like the sixties and seventies had the Beatles or the Who... The '00s have Kings of Leon.

i love how in knocked up caleb is almost whispering these desires and longings and dreams he has until someone questions him (the doctor) and then the song gets all, 'yeah, actually. i am!' attitudey and then it builds and builds almost more from the thought that he can't have it rather than he wants to. it's so 'shush' at the begining then wham, yes thank you i can have what i like how dare you for even questioning me! love that" he seems to get more inspired by the thought even as he sings it, just cause someones telling him he can't .. (and here's the tongue in cheek but do kinda mean it part of the post) he knows it's gonna be difficult so he starts wailing and thinking twice but still that's pretty sure that's what he means. he always seems, not always, but he does have this delicious doubt that comes through in his lyrics, which is so bullshit, as with all of them, cause it's totally made outta nothing apart from something they made up for themselves, ya know cause like they're human. oh do i seem like a bitch when i say stuff like that cause it feels like i'm having a go at the reader? seriously here. i'm having more of a go at myself than anyone who reads this true dat x btw jared totally deserves my credit! he's so obviously unobvious, he has a cunning skill at being the very thing he's not, esp' with his playing, there's alot of depth there. he somewhat confuses me. i love matts solo in on call!! takes my breath away
