^^thanks for the welcome Schnucams Well I really wasn't going to say -didn't want to upset anyone with my first post - but I've changed my mind - reading back over my post "woeful" felt harsh and I'm really not a harsh kind of person. I'm going to be giving these tracks some room and we'll see. Ssoooo: '17' - (Hah!) I could forgive the bells (could I forgive the bells? hmmm) if I liked the rest of the track and I don't. I know there are people on here who like it. I've just listened again and ............yep, still woeful! It stands out as being so weak to me. Between Notion and Revelry? I do find it irritating and I'm trying not to. One of the things I admire about the Kings is their instinct for fitting together the different instrumental parts in their songs. The sum is often truly so much greater than the parts and wow - what parts! In my opinion, not here, but maybe its still early days. 'Soft' - well yes, some people really love this too, I know. I find it so annoying it's not even been on my ipod or my computer for a long long time, I just don't listen to it. I'm not complaining about the lyrics or vocal performance but musically - to me it just plink plinks along! However, I'm thinking I will have to dig out the cd and listen to it again 'cause I can not believe I could hate something off ASH that much!!

Your welcome Ooooooooh I love soft, it may plink plink along but its one of those tunes that has gotten me to tap my toes when I couldnt even get out of bed (long story) so I have an attachment to it!! 17 ya......I'm just not sure bout 17 either! I wouldnt call it woeful but its definately not the mae west (best), I could get over the bells (just cause its Matt ) but I really dont like they lyrics, I think Caleb is beyond singing about 17 year olds Thanx for sharing, I'm all for honest sharing of opinions!!

I know somebody's gonna kill me for saying this, but I think a few of the new songs sound a little like the Secret Machines(a band the guys toured with once). Who I love BTW.

A genuine musical musing here. I have spent the last few days listening to all their albums in chronological order (heaven) and I have come to the conclusion that although i don't have a favourite - Youth and Youngmanhood and Because of the Times are my preferred albums. Which is odd because, if i'd been pressed at an earlier date to make a definite decision i would have said Aha Shake Heartbreak - I think i was swayed by my King of the Rodeo love. Weird!

Been thinking this and didn't know where else to say it. Voted in the BOTT elimination game earlier and found, yet again, that my opinion of a song had changed when I didn't expect it to. KOL seem to do this to me and I don't really think other bands do. Every so often I seem to see a song in a new light, noticing something about it that I hadn't before, appreciating it in a new way to the extent that my opinion of a song may even change quite radically. Anyone else or just me?

Here's my very random musing. Don't know if any UK fans are also tennis fans, but on Sky Sports they always show little excerpts from players matches throughout the week before a big match, such as a semi. I settled down on Saturday to watch the 1st Madrid semi-final between Federer and Murray and while they were showing the excerpts, lo! and behold! in the background Crawl was playing. Fair to say I was stunned.
So, yeah, that was a shocker. I went on about it for half an hour, thus missing the first fifteen minutes of the match.
