I completely love how they seem so down to earth still and I am blown away by Calebs honesty in interviews, it may sound trite but I completely respect him for that! I love Nathans sense of humour and how he seems to look out for others in the band, i.e. chiming in when others seem to feel awkward etc and he always passes the mic to the others to give them a chance to speak and his sense of humour is phenomenal! I know I'm always giving out about how much Jared speaks and interrupts others *ahem*Matt*ahem* but he always surprises me with what he comes out with, sometimes he acts so young yet other times he sees well beyond his years. As for Matt.....well everyone knows I have lots of love for Matt :-p End of speech!! Nice thread btw

Nice thread Whiskers, honey. Hope you are feeling better than earlier. There aren't enough adjectives to describe how i feel about these guys and a lot of what i have to say is similar to Schnucams and i don't wanna sound like i'm copying her.... I've said it in various places on here already but i think they are the most phenomenally talent band i've ever heard. All of them are so fantastic at what they do. ALL OF THEM. And they are all so funny. Nathan being the funniest, obviously and most attractive and most talented (don't know if i've ever said that before ). The fact that they have been so brave with this album makes me feel proud of them and although they'll get new fans their splitting their existing ones slightly so....it was a risk. To consider how young they were when they started, especially Jared, they're just.....wonderful. Who can lock themselves away for a few days and play a bass like that when they emerge?!! And Nathan must have calves like iron with all the stupendous (eh, new adj.) bass drumming he does. Like no other drummer IMO ever, fan-f**king-tastic. Matthew is so f**king cool. He looks so....sweet, yet he plays guitar like that. and puts up with Jared and his interrupting/piss taking. And Caleb's voice - well...From Y&YM to now...the best in the business baby. So many good bands are kinda ruined for me by lame, flat, dull vocalists (I won't name names but..) They are gorgeous. Funny. Talented beyond belief. But the thing i love about them, as people, is how close they are. The home videos really let us see all that. I particularly enjoy Matt and Jared's relationship and am touched by Nathan and Caleb's. Just little things like how Caleb looks at Nate in the SOF vid for eg, and how Caleb looks to him in interviews and Nathan just knows to carry on where he left off. The home movies showed that they are just normal guys - and Caleb is so much more vulnerable than i would have ever thought. Matt is patient and has a gorgeous talking voice and Jared (who i thought was a little immature) is very funny and sweet. Nathan is everything i thought he was - gorgeous, talented, hysterical, a stoner! But just a nice person who knows how to deal with his little temperamental brother (be patient, or fight with him and shove him into a wall so his shoulder pops out!). Most of that was hardly a musical musing but.... I love them - for what they do and who they are (or seem to be, from where i'm sitting). I've never been so into a band that i was a member of a forum (or a fanclub as it prob would have been years ago) and at 30 i didn't see it being sommat i'd do but, here i am...... I FOLLOWILLING ALWAYS!!!!!

They're the first band I've ever felt so connected to. And I pick up on all the little bits in their songs that I've never done with a band before. They're the first band whose songs I have loved all the same, like I could never skip a song. I think they sound better or just as good as they do on record and I listen to them pretty much non-stop all day everyday. No one else compares, and if I do listen to someone else it usually ends up that they're somehow connected or something. I feel so much passion from them and I can assure them they get it back from me. I think they make my world go round. Sounds really corny, but they're so amazing! They also seem like average guys, okay so they got a lot of cash now and they're huge, but they still have time to say hi to fans, have a joke in interviews. I think what I like about them is that although they are perfectionists, at the end of the day they don't take themselves too seriously and are average guys

During my adolescence, I was obsessed with blink-182. I love how their music epitomized everything I went through as a teenager: my first kiss, my first love, first heartbreak. They were simple and very silly but their music was the first that could make me feel[.
And when they broke up in 2005, I thought I would never feel that way again for any band. I had already listened to Kings of Leon but didn't pay them too much attention.
But slowly, KOL captured my heart in a way that I didn't think possible again. Their music is more mature, more apt for my adulthood years. And when I researched them and got to know more details about those Followill brothers and cousins, I was mesmerized once again by a musical act.
If blink-182 was the soundtrack to my adolescence, Kings of Leon are definitely the soundtrack to my adulthood. I've used them both as an escape but out of the two, KOL has been by far the sweetest escape....

in the XFM interview Jared was talking about how U2 is such a great band, and he said (roughly) "they have soo many songs that people love. Like someone will think they really love a band, but they'll only 4 or 5 songs, whereas with u2 people have like 10 plus songs that they really lovvee" and I said to myself, dude, (as in Jared), i love every single song you guys have released. their is not one i skip, obviously i listen to some more than others, but if you asked me if i wished this song hadn't been on a record, i would say no in an instant. that is just such an amazing thing! and i know so many people feel this way, its truly a remarkable thing to be able to write 50+ songs (so far), and have people like every single one. The lyrics are true, they can relate to (another quote from Caleb here) "even fat people". Someone living in the depths of the amazonian jungle can relate to this music as much as someone living in the heart of a city. and them muscician ship is beyond magical! they are tight again and again and again. if someone can show me a youtube video where their not amazing, i'd like to see it. their's this one, in which caleb says "we played like shit then, and i know it" but i sure as hell could not tell! www.youtube.com/watch?v=_g1V1qOChccanywhooo. i can listen to KOL when im sad, when im happy, when im grumpy. any time. and i can also use it to change me mood, like if im sad i'll chuck on Fans or Happy Alone, gets me dancing. and what laura said up there ^^^ is so true. i got into KOL in january, and this year is my last year of high school, and i truly think they have helped me grow. just from their interviews i have learnt stuff, then researched it on the ever fantastic Wikipedia, and found out about more stuff, i've stolen a fair few jokes from these 4 and gotten laughs. this had been quite the speech, i could go on about the love for KOL, but i won't.

Somebody call? I'm in my forties! Here to claim my karma. I haven't felt like this about a band for I don't want to think how long. But they just swept in and they're themselves in some true sense of the word, like my daughter was trying to tell me yesterday about the Beatles, they are so much themselves that when you hear them you aren't ever in any doubt as to who you're listening to. And that's what it is here, you got this unique kind of voice and vocal delivery, the high octane drumming and that kind of originality with the guitars that you don't get anywhere else. Something unique. And I've heard a lot of music in my life. I've been impressed by lots of bands but with this lot I feel kind of caught up in it, like it's something to do with me, when it clearly isn't, really. Or, it shouldn't be! But, it damn well is.

Karma coming your way when I can, clarksville! And I feel the same way...I haven't been this excited about a band in a long, long time. And now that they have these message board thingys where you can talk to people all over the world about your favorite band, well that's just super neato!

Well, I guess I'm a pretty old lurker, I'm in my forties too - and kind of bewildered that I joined a forum for the first time!! And now I'm even posting - weird.
The explanation is that this band blows me away like no one else for a long time, and I too have heard a lot of music in my life. I love the overall tightness, the creativity, the sometimes scorching honesty, and I love the enjoyment of thinking, with four albums down now, that here is a band that could well interest me for a long time to come. I have been surprised by each successive album but always find eventually it was in such a good way. I don't think every track they have made is amazing - there are two (only two!)( I won't say which!) that I find a bit woeful - but it's interesting to me that somehow I find myself listening to them just about every day, and each day I get such a kick out of something different. I could witter away for a long long time in detail but I won't - suffice to say the SOUND of Closer has ambushed me today.
More talent than you could shake a stick at.
well, I guess I'm maybe no longer a forum virgin. And it wasn't even painful.
