I might be on my own with this opinion, but I really like the new album. It's one of the few cd's that I can play without skipping songs. Of course YAYM and AHA are great too, but they don't give me the same... content feeling that BOTT and OBTN give me. I mean, it's fun to listen to, let's say, California waiting. But it's not the same as listening to Cold desert and having tears in your eyes because it's so beautiful. But hey, that's just my opinion! No no no nooooo. California Waiting is one of my favourite KOL songs, I don't care if it doesn't give me tears in my eyes, it's still an amazing song that I need to see live, and well if I don't see them play it in December then I will be gutted. I'm kinda the opposite to you haha, I skip a few songs on BOTT and OBTN but listen to every single song on Y&YM and ASH

has anyone else noticed the absence of caleb's guitar on this album, nowhere on this album does it have the gritty riffs we've heard in songs like charmer, four kicks, happy alone or black thumbnail. Sounds more subdued to the other albums.
I Want You is an amazing song by the way

I guess I have to say that this is my least favourite album from kol. i like most of the songs, but theres only really manhattan, closer and cold desert that i can listen to more than once in one sitting. None of the songs make me wanna throw myself around the room. I think its good that they are trying a new sound but i think they would be better to go back to more ash kinda sounds. What upsets me the most, is that it seems like KOL feel they have had to do this to get recognition or to sound good in a stadium. I am loyal to the kings and always will be they have had such an impact on my life. But im just hoping that the next album excites me more, and inspires me more It's a fair point, I have to say I haven't thrown myself around to this album at all yet, and throwing myself around was one of the defining aspects of the previous albums, especially BOTT. I would put the album on as music to do housework to and at the end I would think... okay, I have spent the whole of that album throwing myself around. Let's try that again. And I would do it all over again, until I was too exhausted to continue. But I like the new album. It just isn't a throwing yourself around album, to me. But that's okay. Maybe I will get some work done at last!

ho.ly. SHIT "schnucums"
im sorry if this is majorly off topic, but that picture of the gorilla flicking us off made me laugh uncontrollably for seriously like 10minutes. good gosh. it's like 1:30am here too so i think i just woke my entire family up laughing my ass off. ahhhh good times.
november 10th (kings of leon bitchessss) is still gonna be the greatest day of my life. as you may well know i think it's their weakest album, but i actually think the songs could sound kick ass live.
love love love and goodnight to all

What I'm wondering is, now that they are taking responsibility for the production side of things themselves, how will that go in the future as they gain experience and confidence. It will be interesting to see.
I like OBTN, but I do have a question in my mind as to what they could achieve, especially if they took more time.
The first dozen bars of Closer blows me away, the sounds and the way it builds. In fact I think the development and dynamics of the whole song are great. Caleb could be singing in swahili about foot and mouth disease and it would still be a tune.

I like Caleb when he sings clearly and I like it when he mumbles..I dont know if I prefer either to the other.I love every album equally too. I literally cant find a thing wrong with any of them so All I can say about this album is: two thumbs!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has to switch off the Kings to do the school run. Sometimes quite grudgingly, too.

I'm kinda the opposite to you haha, I skip a few songs on BOTT and OBTN but listen to every single song on Y&YM and ASH ^ same here i just loved his rough and raw vocals. YAYM is my all time fave album! Molly's Chambers gets me everytime, haha.. but hey...they're still our kings and still make great great music. ^ Amen. couldn't have summed it up better

Do you mean "does being gay mean you're not able to make good music?? If so, I completely agree! And I dont think sticking "lol" at the end mads the OP's comment any less insulting i'm totally into this record and i wouldn't wanna miss it. at the same time: yes, it sounds different, it makes them reach much more listeners out there but hey...they're still our kings and still make great great music.
