oh i wanna c that interview Linkin xxxx happyalone.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=share&action=display&thread=9186its amazing! I'm not a musical person (well, an appreciator, not a do-er) so I got lost in some of the technical stuff, but it made me feel intelligent listening to it... I was gonna write my favourite Matt guitar part, but it basically amounted to every single song. Especially McFearless, especially live. I love how he doesn't really move around that much on stage when he's playing the most complicated bits, whereas Caleb tends to make more of a show out of the more repetitive (sounding) parts ((don't get me wrong, I love that too!)). Its wierdly backwards, but suits very well. Its funny how even when given a blatant solo (eg Crawl, Arizona), he just makes it seem very natural, not like 'insert solo here'. Which I've just realised is what people were saying earlier. Oops. Edit: quarter of a thousand posts -heck yes! A very worthy one too oh yh i remember that, love matt in that

oh ginger i adore your sig! love JATT i have to say matt totaly MAKES 'closer' for me, esp. live! his skills are amazing when he totally rocks out in the end and the screamin-into-the-pickup is THE element of this song. without matt i probably wouldn't like closer that much. so keep on rocking matty

Thanks Kultbert.
Kings wouldn't be Kings without those solos.

Closer is my favorite and I am still upset they didn't play it at my show. I guess I'll have to settle for watching Matt give his guitar oral sex only in pictures!

Guitar solos are the climax of the song! ESPECIALLY when its Matt playing them!

Right, probably won't get a reply but does anyone have the correct tabs for Matt's solo in Black Thumbnail? I was using this - www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/k/kings_of_leon/black_thumbnail_tab.htmwhich sounds vaguely normal to me (despite not using a pedal with it) and looks alright, but after just watching it on youtube i am 100% certain he never hits 5th fret? More 7 at the very most then 10/11/12 ish by the looks of things. I would try and figure it out but I am not very advanced and can't seem to it. Any help will be rewarded with karma

I don't know why but our radio station has been playing Use Somebody again, on a regular basis, and I came to the conclusion that the best part is by far Matt's guitar solo!

love matts solo in 'mary'. thats a kickass solo baby! hope there'll be more of that kind on the album, cause i thought there wasn't enough matt-kickass-solo-power on OBTN except for crawl and manhattan (well it's not a KICK-ASS solo but it's beautiful and i didn't wanna leave it out). on BOTT he has the best solos: charmer, on call, black thumbnail, my party, true love way, camaro, arizona and ragoo obviously has an amazing guitar riff! so, please keep rocking our socks and panties off matt

His solo in Use Somebody, that's probably the main reason why I like it so much! And, yes... Closer, mhhmmmmmmmm!

I'm a HUGE guitar geek (and I will admit a bit of a music snob! I know its a horrible thing to be) and there haven't been alot of guitarists over the last few years that impressed me but Matt Followill is amazing!
All his solos, riffs, everything their just perfect and not ridiculously difficult or over the top!
Sorry just thought I'd show my appreciation for a really amazing guitarist!

Why does everybody like the Use Somebody solo so much? All it is is a continuation of his main chords at a higher dynamic. Now his solo on Crawl, that's something that makes a song shine! I wish they would allow him longer solos and go Slash on us! I'd probably convert to a full-time Merver if he ever improvised on stage.

I forget what interview it was, I think maybe one of the first CAS ones but he said about wanting to make a rock n roll record, there is such a guitar god in Matt waiting to be let loose! BOTT was the start for him but he's not had anything constantly like that in OBTN and CAS, I really hope the next one he gets some sweet riffs going in pretty much every song. Boy is a genius!

i love the way he plays the old songs like from YAYM and ASH live but he kinda plays them differently ..cant explain it tho...and it would be sick if after KOL he made a side band with some other top class musos

Hearing his playing in King of the Rodeo and The Bucket is what made me listen to Kings of Leon in the first place, tbh. It's impossible for me to pick any specific favourites, there's way too much to choose from. I can listen to ASH over and over again for hours just to listen to the guitar on it though.

His guitar work in Pony Up is one of the coolest dryest guitar work he has has ever done and DEF used Talking Heads as a reference !
