We've all apreciated Nathans drumming and Jareds bass action and despite the fact that some people *ahem* Caleb *ahem* think KOL don't need Matt, I figure they do: Arizona, for example, would never make it to an album if it wasnt for said lead guitarist Name your fave Matt guitar moments here!!!

Well if Caleb could learn how to actually play the guitar we wouldn't need Matt!

I think the simplicity of what Caleb does on guitar is amazing and it suits their music. He barely moves his left hand at all during KOTR but it still sounds amazing.
Anyway, my favourite lead guitar parts would have to be...
Knocked Up Arizona Red Morning Light (Amazing solo) Four Kicks (Amazing solo, again) Molly's Chambers (You guessed it) Trani (Just insane) Black Thumbnail and... The Bucket

All my faves have already been mentioned - OK they are all my faves and there are so many little bits that i love which would take forever to explain.....SO something relevant all the same, i thought i would share my fav Matty moments from the Apollo Hammsmith gig / DVD...apologies if you've not seen it.
1) That camera pan of him during McFearless (as he does the mouth thing) phoar..best camera action ever!! 2) The way he shakes the guitar in Fans to distort the notes 3) Before he starts to play a note he kind of moves the neck of the guitar up and down 4) Dancing during Spiral Staircase 5) How he puts his ciggy in the guitar (and you can actually hear it when he does it) 6) Just before On Call starts...and the lighting is blue he wipes his face with a white towel mmmmmmmmmm and you see his dimples 7) When he is distorting the guitar waiting for Caleb before Four Kicks starts 8) Arizona solo 9) Leg tapping towards the end of My Party 10) Ripping it up (and his legs going spaz) in Slow Night So Long
Oh yeah and that person yodeling during a crowd pan between songs...makes me smile everytime!!

All sexual innuendo aside, on listening to OBTN constantly since I got it, I have come to the conclusion that Matt is on fire, musically speaking, throughout the whole thing, for example: Frontier city - Matts lead is not in your face but the combination with Jareds bass really makes the whole song work well! Then at about 3 mins, Matt lets rip and its brill....more please! Beneath the surface & Manhattan - again the bass/guitar combo is fantastic! Use Somebody - I think Nathans drum beats with Matts guitar part work amazingly well together and make a great intro, the beginning lyrics of this one arent the strongest part, its the other parts that draw me in!! Closer - The boy is a genius cause that banshee wailing thing is phenomenal and really adds to the song, especially given its about spooky towns, vampires and whatnot!! If there is one song I'd kill to see live from OBTN its this one!! I want you & Notion - Matts lead is simple and subtle but works! Use somebody - About 3.05 = real air guitar moment ( I love air guitar moments ) Crawl - Possibly Matts best performance on album, more serious air guitar moments, I just love it!!! Cold desert & Revelry - In both lead is simple but seems to work perfectly, both make the hair stand up on back of my neck! Sex on fire - More simple perfection!!! (I've left out 17, I kinda skip it ) So my top 5 Matt moments 1. My third House 2. Arizona 3. Crawl 4. Camaro 5. Closer (This list changes daily)

Matt's the main reason why I like KOL. I wish we heard more from him about it, his influences as far as guitar playing. I wish the band was more matt focused. He has innovative sounds and he also plays a mean minor penatonic blues scale ala yaym. He's awesome. Here's a list of my favorite younger guitarists
1 Matthew Followill 2. Jim James (my morning jacket) 3 Derek Trucks 4. John Mayer
and this is my favorite matthew work.
My third house - Obviously his lead is the driving force in this song and the reason its one of the best KOL songs.
Wicker Chair - he does some major scale and some minor scale stuff, builds the song up well and its a great lead. Matt does some great bends and does well with only using a few notes (ala albert king)
Spiral Staircase - A great bluesy lead, honestly probably my favorite straight lead.
Red morning light - a fast hard biting lead
King of the rodeo - some great sharp bends
Four Kicks - He does it probably differently then I would think of doing it and thats why I like it, badass lead.
On call - nothing has to be said about this lead, but aweeeesome
Arizona - beautiful
Frontier city - is just really good lead and song
i have to listen to the new album more.

Oh wow, I absolutely love Matt's style. I LOVE the solo for On Call. Also, his early solos: Red Morning Light = brilliance, Spiral Staircase and Four Kicks, all 3 solo's are explosive. Also, where has Caleb said they don't need Matt!?

All his work is great but i espically like:
-Arizona, the whole solo at start its flippin great, makes the song in my view. The whole song is a great piece of music. -The Bucket, best first song i have ever listened to. -Spiral Staircase, I love this solo - Be Somebody, Fav song off the album at the moment and the guitar in the back ground is great, espically in the intro. -Closer, i agree wif some one who posted b4 it has this great mystrey feel to it. -Red Morning Light, Solo in this is great.
This list could keep on going. Seeing though the band i some what an idol to me anythin the produce is flippin hot in my eyes. They could produce sum dog sh*t music and i will still love it. (it wont happen at all so i dnt have to worry about that
