Caleb really said it all at the Brixton gig; "It's good to be home."
Seems like the band is moving away from America more and more. At All Points West they seemed unconcerned with working to try to win some people over. They now release they're albums in the UK first, and it would seem that the UK is also getting the better Only By The Night album cover.
It seems like the band are just getting sick of America, which makes me really angry actually, being as big of a fan as I am, here in the US. They seem to have forgotten how amazing and supportive the Radio City show was last year. It seems like they're just giving up and soaking in all the attention they're getting from the UK.

I don't think it's necessarily that they're "getting sick of America." For Kings of Leon, it seems like they put in as much as the audience gives. If the crowd's not very enthusiastic about listening to them, then they're not going to be too enthusiastic to play for them.
I remember when they kicked off their U.S. tour in Seattle and Portland of May 2007. They were caught off guard by the overwhelming response and they were genuinely appreciative of it. On the other hand, you have other shows where a good chunk of the crowd doesn't really seem to care. KOL (and I've noticed, especially Caleb) don't seem the type that would go, "Yes! We will continue to put on bright, shining faces and make witty small talk in spite of the fact that most of you in the audience look like you'd rather be watering your plants! Awesome!" Does that suck for fans like us who are a bit more hard core than others? Sure, I guess, but I don't think they can help but love the attention from the UK.
I'm not saying that it's right that their stage presence reflects the crowd's attitude towards them, but that's the way it seems to go. I say we should wait and see how things unfurl on this upcoming U.S. tour. Maybe they'll get the response they're looking for.
P.S. I just read over this and I hope I don't come across as some rambling crazy.

i'm not really stating whether i agree or disagree, but on the part of all points west, i was there and i was right up front and i was probably one of the only people within like a 20 person radius that knew any of their songs and i was cheering my heart out for them. i think it became obvious to them that everyone standing there was waiting for radiohead to come on and i think that probably bothered them a little bit.
and i agree that kings of leon plays off of the crowd and if they're getting nothing, they don't really give as much. if they get a great response, they're excited to play and they take the time to wave and thank the audience. at all points west, they all just walked off the stage. so maybe they've got their opinions and maybe it's not fair but i think it's really just how they function.
i personally as a fan was bothered by how few people were excited to see them playing at all points west but i knew that a massive part of the turn-out was there for radiohead. people standing around me were shit-talking kings of leon as they were playing their set so i think i can understand that kind of thing. considering that was their last taste of the US before they went back over to the UK, i'd say they probably felt way, way more at home.
sorry for the ramble and i am also half asleep, forgive me :[

remember, they are humans - just like the rest of us, and I don't think it is our right to judge them - whether or not we agree with their attitude. seems to me if they aren't getting support from the crowd - that is a pretty fair reaction - like you guys have said

I guess that professionally, it is more enjoyable for them to play in the UK where they first made it big, where they earn more money and where they are better received - I don't see what is wrong with that. The album is only being released one day earlier in the UK and frankly, I think we deserve to get the album first. I don't think they'll ever get "sick" of America, it is where they live after all.

But why would the boys use most of their time playing year after year in a country that after 5 years still barely recognises them when there are millions of fans over in the UK/Ireland going crazy for them? The demand in the UK is much higher than in the US and the country is less than a tenth of the size of The US!!! If America want to see more of the band then they've got to buy the album and purchase the ticket like we did. P.S. I love America by the way just in case my post seemed any bit anti-US.

I also want to add, I can understand why Mattyjoe, you're upset by there opinion of the states, I would be if I were from there! But I don't blame them for there reaction. After what, 5/6 years they still aren't getting that good a reaction at there gigs over there. If I were them, I'd kinda feel like I was wasting my time. But I can understand how it upsets US fans though, 'cause in a sense it's not fair on you guys.

hey guys! well i when i spoke to my brother about the brixton gig, he told me caleb's "home" comment. anyway, moral of the story is, he has a friend who went to a kol after party not too long ago, and he said it was at a house in Knotting Hill (sp? lol sorry not to familiar with london terminology) so, he reckons they own at least one house there. just a thought

They don"t own a house here yet, but in the paper this week ,Caleb told the interviewer that they are looking for a house in the country .in the u.k. And they are back here in three weeks time, for promo stuff, and Gonzo starts sept 5th.. and Transmission , and the album show, just a throught, they are doing something for 4 music

Not that I particularly think it's a good attitude for the Kings to have - I'd love to see them try a little harder to win over crowds who don't automatically fall at their feet. MattyJoe, the Kings aren't releasing the new album in the UK first. In Europe, release dates are on Mondays. In the US, release days or on Tuesdays. That's the only reason the album is being released one day early in Europe, and that's always the case with album releases.

Caleb said at V on Saturday that they tried playing a festival back home in the states to see what it was like, and 'they don't have shit on you guys'...I guess, like everyone else said, they work on the response they get from the crowd. If they don't get as great a response in America as they do over here, it must be a bit disheartening for them www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ9sTZ1qyFg

I can see both sides, its a shame for die hard KOL fans in the states to hear comments like that, if KOL said scotland was shit for crowds, i would be pretty pissed off to think i pay my hard earned cash to see them for them to have a dig. On the other hand it must be frustrating for them to work their asses of touring the states going on shows for really nothing, then you get some no mark band who get massive by either having a one hit wonder or dating someone famous and they become massive.
I just dont think mainstream America get KOL, im not sure that they ever will. Im not having a go at Americans, i love the states i go all the time but i just feel that radio over there is so biased, if its not rap and r'n'b getting shoved down your throat its shitty rock like Nickelback and Plain White T's and KOL dont fit in to any category.

It is very disheartening to hear that KOL doesn't think they're appreciated in the US. Mainstream america buys tickets to see the frickin' Jonas Brothers who sold out 3 gigs at Madison Square Garden. WTF!!! While I want KOL to have all the success they can get, I would much rather see them in smaller venues and plan on showing them how much I appreciate them when I see 'em in October. I think they will get a better appreciation of america once they start hitting those smaller venues in support of their new album and erase the memory of All Points West from their minds.

hahaha it's so funny because when i was on the way home from all points west, i was on the train surrounded by all these little girls who were at the jonas brothers show at MSG and i thought how pathetic it was that shit bands like that can sell out huge places but the thing about it is that there are more people in america with shit taste in music. AMERICANS WHO LIKE KOL, we are a rare breed. we have good taste.
also, they are actually playing smaller venues in the american tour this time around. like going from radio city to webster hall, that's a big change. well, that might just be new york but i couldn't get tickets for the life of me.
