No one's saying they shouldn't be evolving or trying new things, it's just that it didn't work out for them on this album, hopefully the next one's better. pfttt... As I said you are entitled to your WRONG opinion! Fucking people these days! ah bullshit!!! it did work out for this album. it's great. everyone is wrong sometime, and today is your day keithrichards and brango22... I couldn't agree more, they don't know what they are talking about. Aww Thanks thatfollowillbitch Karma for you too . Ignore all these folks, you tell those guys they have done a great job and I can't wait to buy the single and album and see them at Coachella. Tell them to look out for the very white Irish girl who will be blinding them when the sun reflects off her. I apologise in advance. Ignore the doubters, as I have stated they are just wrong.

I love that someone else referred to the "on call" video as akward. I am so worried for how this album is going to change things. they really were going for a more top40 sound and they got it. arizona is a goose-bump inducing song but you can't help but think wtf after listening to the album as a whole.

downloaded the album yesterday(of course i will be laying out the cash for the real thing in April). Had to turn off after 5 songs feeling really disappointed. Anyway, decided to stick with it and I am so glad that i did, it truly is a great album. The songs just grow on you and really get into your head. My faves so far, knocked up and fans but i really luv them all. Please don't be disheartened by your first listen. Now I just cant wait until the 20th April when I'll be catching KOL live in Manchester!!
Enjoy

I love the new album, I am so proud of them. They have the balls to do something different to the last two albums. If they were just producing the same thing over and over it would get very tired, very fast! Although at first I wasn't very fond of 'On Call', I love it now. It is definately a grower of a tune. The video is just not good (sorry boys)but the song is great. I knew they would prove my first impression wrong. I agree with what thatfollowillbitch said about the first time they heard the album for the first time. I was as happy as a pig in shit! Heh heh I see the karma farmer has been a busy bee. Those of you who don't like it are of course entitled to your wrong opinion. I totally agree with you there aby I don't have an opinion on the album as yet because as you know i haven't downloaded it **WILL POWER** still going strong hehe, but i do have an opinion on the 3 songs i've heard already!! I wasn't very sure of On Call at first, but now it's really grown on me. When i listen to it, it stays in my head for hours, now that can't be a bad thing & Black Thumbnail, i think that is a fantastic song. Only heard it live but WOW. The third & final song i've heard is Charmer. I have to say i was a little scared when i first heard it LOL, but the other day i listened to it on my ipod on repeat. Theres definitely a Pixes vibe going on & has a wicked bassline on it I have to say i'm loving the fuller sound they have achieved on this album from what i have heard. One of my friends has downloaded the album & he loves it, but i'm staying strong LOL No one's saying they shouldn't be evolving or trying new things, it's just that it didn't work out for them on this album, hopefully the next one's better. pfttt... As I said you are entitled to your WRONG opinion! Fucking people these days! Yep i agree again hehe!! I have to say that the change in direction on this album so far has worked for me & i think it's refreshing. Could you imagine if they had churned out something extactly like A.S.H. They would have got totally slated for not doing anything different. I think it's great they have moved on musically once again & i hope they keep it up for the future Well done guys **Roll on 2nd April** Also 20th april @ Manchester Apollo!!!

To the folks who think this album is sub-par, I've got a few questions for you. Do you think Caleb's lyrics are better or worse than on previous albums? His lyrics always were interesting and suited the music well but a lot of the time they were also borderline nonsense to anyone who didn't know the situation that inspired them. His lyrics actually have a coherence this time and that makes them work with the music even more. And speaking of Caleb, do you think he's singing better or worse? He definitely seems to have more control over his voice on this album and uses it to great effect. He's got one of the odder voices in popular music today but it's always suited the music. On BOTT he's actually focusing it, pointing its character in a direction rather than just letting it rattle around. He was more in control of it on ASH than on YAYM but on this album it sounds like he knows exactly what he's doing with it. Mathew's guitars are more purposeful as well. One of the things that's interested me so much about KOL is how well they synch together as a band, even considering how young they were when they started. However, the guitar pieces Mathew uses on BOTT are pretty much perfect. I listen to the music and I can't think of anything that would sound better in what he plays. Jared seems to have grown as much as Caleb on this album. His bass playing is so much more adventurous and will to expand here. I gotta confess that although it always worked very well with the songs, I found his playing on the previous albums to be a little on the bland side. It sounds like this is the album where he's cutting loose and willing to explore where he can go in the choruses. I'm listening to the album right now and I'm hearing so many parts where he's playing around in the songs where he wouldn't have on the previous albums. Nathan's drums have always felt like their own part of the song, rather than just a support for the guitar and vocals. I couldn't have necessarily said the same thing about Jared's bass on the previous albums but I can definitely say it's its own instrument on BOTT. Nathan's had the least growth on this album but I think that's because he had less of a need to grow as he was already a pretty sweet drummer. I still remember seeing him on stage pounding away on the drums super-fast, singing backing vocals, and he still managed to not get any gum stuck in his beard, heh. He does seem a bit more willing to restrain himself when the songs call for it, which is cool. I'm very glad they've shown a willingness to grow and try new directions with their third album. I would imagine touring with greats like U2, Pearl Jam, and Bob Dylan would have an effect on you. I think the backing vocals on this album are more effective than they have been on previous albums as well. And as an overall product, I think McFearless is the best song they've done to date. I'm really freakin' excited to see these songs live and, in some ways, that's the best thing that can be said about a rock album.

this is a very different sounding album to the last two. i understand that some people might find it uncomfortable listening to something that is so different, or something they werent expecting. its quite easy to get used to a particular sound with bands and when it changes i suppose it can throw you off a bit!? it took me a couple of listens to 'get' all of the songs, but ive been playing it pretty much non stop since then. also adding (or trying to at least) to zoostation's point about them growing and being a young band when they started. its inevitable that the sound will change. they wont be set in their ways just yet which is a really good thing. id hate to have another album that sounded just like the last two (dont jump to any conclusions, i love yaym& ash) change is good. really good in this case, and its nice to hear how theyve developed in a way i feel like ive grown up with them, theres a sense of being able to relate to them. (god that was disgustingly sentimental of me)

Fans is def a favourite too. same here. for example McFearless seemed a little out of place from the rest of KOL's library but i can't stop listening to it. Say what you want about the effects and music but Caleb's absolutely makes that song great. Great Album. I first fell in love with Kings of Leon after watch the video for the bucket. I learned that Aha Shake Heartbreak was their sophmore album so i decided to listen to the first and didn't like it all that much. I heard the single for BOTT, "On Call" and i absolutely love. A good idea of what to expect on the album. Then i heard Arizona and it still has the same simple Kings of Leon style to it. Some people don't like the new album but i love it. I can't wait to see them in NY in July.

For me, the music is definitely as good as their older stuff, just more epic in scope. The problem I have with the album is the mastering. Like everything these days, the music is compressed to shit and makes the sound loose all dynamics, especially with the fuzzy bass. Think i'll buy the vinyl.

Sometimes the net leaks are actually better quality than the official release. This is because they put the music through the ringer and try to make it sound good for radio but useless for home listening. Think of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

i am a kol fan. new album really is dissapointing. it is not true to their style. its tacky. how am i one of the few people that agrees with electricrussia, as a fan you should be critical of their music, not accept it for grand prize just because THEY made it. and how are 'older' fans supportive of the new album anyway? its almost as if they sold their souls to the alt rock devil of 1995. i miss my kol : (

However now that I've listen to it I'm in love with it! It's great! all of the songs have that thing on it. If you listen to the songs closely you'll find similarities to the old ones, you just have to give it a chance...

Sorry but I just have to reiterate for those who don't dig the album; one must get stoned to it to "absorb" the music properly.
I'm dead serious about this guys. Try it.

no one wants to hear your shit hippy. If the album doesn't sound good sober it's not good. I'm sure fucking Brittney Spears would sound great if I was on e or something. Drugs make everything sound better.
