Tonight in the gym i done 20 minutes on the bike then 40 minutes on the treadmill and burnt about 850 kcal What the hell? I'm doing something seriously wrong then. This evening I did ten minutes on the rower, 40 on the stepper, 15 on the cross trainer and ten on the treadmill and only burned off 500 kcal!! Ruth you have to keep a good pace on the treadmill and you burn off more calories it worked out i ran 5.3 miles in 40 mins and on the bike i done 6.5 miles in 20 mins. Keep it up though ruthy and you'll get there

Hey, great job so far Ruth! That's awesome! I joined WW last week and so far I've lost 2.4lbs. I have my 2nd weigh in this Saturday. I'm hoping it's an even bigger number! My 5% goal is 13lbs. so that's what I'm shooting for for right now.
Let me know girls, if I can help out in anyway...even if it's just showing support!

^^^^ Well done on your first week loss Michelle I'm beginning to love Weight Watchers. It's a sensible way to lose weight and it seems to work for so many people

^^^ I know. If I'm honest I'm terrified of piling on weight when I'm in Nashville. I want to kick back and enjoy my holiday, enjoy the food enjoy a few drinks but I know that will tell on the scales.
Should I just enjoy myself and start over when I come home or be really good when I'm in America? I think the latter will be very difficult considering I'll be eating out for a week and going out most nights too. Meh.

go for some kind of middle ground, if you wanna drink then eat more sensible or if you go for a meal go easy on the wine etc.. if you want a dessert have a more sensible choice for main course. does that make sense? thats what id do anyway.

^^^ I know but you know what the portion sizes in America are like?! Hopefully the girls might share meals with me. There's a pool in the hotel too so might get a bit of exercise in there but don't wanna be too anal about it either. Arghhh! I wish I was one of those people who are naturally skinny!

Haha. ^ you and me both! Aw and thanks Ruth! And I agree with you, as long as you keep a track of everything you eat and get plenty of exercise & water in then you’ll do great. I’ve been getting out everyday on my lunch break and walking for 20 to 20 mins and I’ve been drinking nothing but water. I agree with Kim, I know you want to enjoy the foods over here in Nashville (though most of it is unhealthy lol), but you don’t want to go all out and then go home to start all over. You’d be undoing all the hard work you’ve put in. It’d be best for you to just go for one thing and cut back the rest…just as long as you’re getting in your water & fruits and veggies. That’s the key to WW, it’s not just a diet it IS a life style change. You can eat or drink what you want, you just have to cut it back a little and not eat or drink AS much. Does that make sense? Lol.

It does make sense indeed! Ah I'll be fine. If I put on a few pounds I won't panic - I'll just get straight back in to WW and excercise when I get home. I didn't spend all this money on a holiday to go to Nashville and no be able to sample the yummy food!

good job, Dan *karma*.
Whew...just got back from a beautiful 2 mile walk outside. Right as I walked inside the house the bottom fell out. Glad I made it back before it rained on me.

I've been trying to be much more healthy with what I eat and drink too and I found this website which I find useful... thought I'd post it here in case anyone is interested - there's a calorie counter and a large database of nutrition information on foods... www.thedailyplate.com/

Michelle how do you like Weight Watchers? I've been thinking of joining but I dont know about the whole keeping track of points. My new job will actually pay for me to join though! I was doing super good about eating right and excercising until my last week of grad school and then it all went downhill! I have a gym at my apartment complex that I need to start utilizing! I give you all permission to start smiting me for everyday that I don't go!

^ haha. you're so silly!
I like it, because you can eat whatever you want...as long as it's within your point range. This is only week two for me, but I feel like I've been doing a good job. I write everything down...even if I don't want too. haha. They've given me my 5% goal (which is 13lbs) so I'm just trying my best to get there first.
That's awesome that your work will pay you to join! I wish I had that! haha. Let me know if I can help ya out in anyway.

I'm praying I can stay on track. I'm ready for a change in my life and as sad as it sounds, I'd really like to meet someone. I mean, this whole 25yrs of never having a bf is a little depressing! hahaha.
