^Hmmm. I tend to take 'I work there/I was there at the time' comments with a pinch of salt. Especially as there's no doubt that birds were shitting on them, whereas that guy says 'any bird that was around got the **** out after that.' Plus, I thought there were only two support bands? (I could be totally wrong there, I apologise if that's the case). Surely someone who was working there that night would know how many bands played? And, again, there's no doubt the support bands were shat on, even if they did continue unlike KoL. No disrespect, but so many fans & venue workers were at that show, all saying the same thing, yet a lot of people on here seem to not want to believe Kings of Leon are not perfect or something. I was in the first few rows & none of them had any issue but Jared. Saw with my own 2 eyes.

if you read my review i posted of what happened you wouldn't have so many questions but to paraphrase...
the bird was shitting during the first two bands too but the bass players moved out of the way. they were NOT covered in shit! the bass player from the stills had some poop on his jeans but that was it.
nobody else got shit on! there was a pigeon in one spot which was abvove the bass players.
the person who says they work there and made that comment about the bird leaving after the bands started was also lying because there still was a bird up there shitting!
like i said in a post above none of the stories out there are accurate. the band is obviously trying to do some PR to not sound so bad and there are obviously people trying to make the band look worse than they are. with most things the real story probably lies somewhere in the middle.
we'll never know so it's kind of pointless to keep beating a dead horse... or in this case pigeon.

Time to move on. Yes, nobody is perfect. If this incident caused some fans to lose their love for the Kings, then such is life. They play on average what, 100 shows a year, give or take? And they cancel--for whatever reason--2 maybe 3? That's a pretty good average of about 95%.
Last year in Milwaukee, i also saw Caleb perform an entire show dead sick with swine flu, barely able to stand, coughing, sneezing and running a fever. As were at least 2 other band members. No one was praising them then for 8 pages for being troopers and going out there and giving their all.
I guess Jared isnt Cindy Lauper and didnt want to perform for 1.5 hrs covered in shit.
I certainly feel bad for everyone who was there and was short changed, but life is full of disappointments. KOL chose to walk off, everyone has a choice to follow them or give up on them now. Talking endlessly about who saw what, was there 2 grams of poop or 6 grams, did 2/3 land on his nose, or did 3/4 end up in his mouth, and did the venue sold 87% or 53% of its capacity is kind of pointless.

^Well said Nik, karma One last point from me before I leave this thread forever. calebfan13 I'm not doubting the fans' accounts, merely the veracity of this one 'venue worker's' account, seeing as there are such inconsistancies to what he has said when you compare his story to that of the fans. This has nothing whatsoever to do with not wanting to believe the band aren't perfect. No I'm gonna make like a tree and leave.

Karma Nik, that's probably the best post I've read in this thread about the whole situation

maybe I've come away from reading this in the wrong mindset...but this makes me really want to see the boys play. <-weird I know. lol
I do feel bad for all the people who didn't get a show they paid for...but it is a risk that we ALL take whenever we travel to ANY show. I wasn't there so I can't really take up for the Kings, but I do hope everyone has had time to cool off and think over things. Then again, maybe I shouldn't be saying anything anyway. lol.
Just mainly wanted to say that I miss them and if anyone has a ticket to their Birmingham show in Sept...maybe a GA ticket, let me know!
Love to all!

it's funny because i was just thinking (after nik asked on twitter why the nashville scene had been so quiet about all this) that even though i was/am mad about the whole deal i dont want anyone else talking bad about them... even when my non kol friends made a comment about it i quickly jumped to their defense! i was like no... nobody's calling jared a pussy but me and other kol fans! i'm not nearly as angry as i was inititally (obviously by my in depth apology to nathan for being a dickhead/getting his sticks and all that). i'm still mad at the situation but my anger is not directed just at the band. the venue knew there was a problem way before the band even arrived at the venue so the blame really falls on them. for anyone that says the band was pissed and ready to leave and just used the pigeon as an excuse. well if the venue had taken care of the pigeon there wouldn't have been that excuse for them (if that was the case even). their managment also knew about the pigeon long before they or the opening bands took the stage. the fault then gets put on their managment for not being adament the pigeon problem be resolved before they even got to the venue!

I saw this on a sports show. Nothing I hear about Kings of Leon is good anymore. When I heard about this, it was simply the straw the broke the camels back. I supported them for a long time. I like the music a lot. I thought the new album was the worst album, but it wasn't that bad. I even got a tattoo on my arm of the cover of ah ha shake heartbreak, which I regret in so many ways. Every KOL concert I have been too has been the worst concert i've ever been too. One of them people were so crazy they were smashing my wife into a railing and she couldn't breathe. I had to punch a guy in the head to get him to stop and I almost got kicked out. Then the last concert I went to, it was so bad and they cared so little that I left half way through. I walked out. It wasn't even worth my time. I could see them saying "I don't even want to be here." Even after that I held out a small bit of hope, but this upon reading and everything else, there is no way I can continue to give my money to this band. I won't buy the next cd. These guys are some real cocks and even if you like it, there is little proof that they aren't. The truth is even when this wasn't happening, I thought they were dicks. I question the authenticity of the band, and if there is one at all. They re-invent themselves every album, haircut and music style. I just don't care anymore.

Can we please leave that to die down ? Pleaaassseee, lots of people have been disapointed, its a fact, but its really getting ridiculous, but consider how many times they had to cancel a show in 8 years. Nik is the voice of reason. Karma for speaking sense

I was in the front row, waited 2 hours before the show to get a good spot. I enjoyed the 3 songs we got to hear. Yes it was very disappointing to see them walk off but I understand where Jared is coming from. Thankfully I live down the road so I didnt spend money on a hotel or much on gas, still sucks. But the next day I went home and bought tickets to see them in Indy, you can't fault them for it and stay mad forever.
