in that video on the guardians homepage you can see that nathan is getting up from his chair as soon as taper jean girl ends.
some weird guy on youtube says he knows the pigeon thing is a lie and nathan passed out cause he was too drunk to continue the show. how stupid can someone be?? i'd love to drill the pigeons to shit on the haters faces...

i put in my review that jared and caleb were having little mini conversations after he was pooped on and i think caleb passed that on to the others to exit the stage after TJG

^ I've read your tumblr, it's big of you to apologise for your earlier tweets to Nathan - apologising is quite hard to do, and extremely cool of him to give you his drum sticks! Karma to you.

Looking back at the whole incident, Jared, or better Caleb! should've done the obvious and pulled an Ozzy. Bit the head off the pigeon(s)!
1. No more poop 2. No more complaints about them not being an exciting band 3. Entertainment to last us all a lifetime

Good idea in theory. But I think we'd all, even those who weren't there, be a bit traumatised after something like that.

I read your reviews on Tumblr, Carrie. they were great. I gave you karma for them. I'm glad Nate gave you those drumsticks. you're one of the biggest fans I've ever seen and truly deserved them.

The Postelles would like to release the following statement regarding this show:
"It was truly an honor to open up for the Kings of Leon on Friday night in St. Louis. Unfortunately, it was a (expletive)-storm for everyone involved. Amongst other things, a bird fell from the rafters and died while our drummer was setting up (services to be held next week), very fine clothing was ruined throughout the entire night (the laundry bill was rough!), and our equipment was completely covered with...well, you get the point. On a positive note, our bassist John developed some really excellent/awkward dance moves while trying to avoid the falling onslaught from the flock in the sky. We look forward to coming back to St. Louis -- hopefully indoors this time."

I did think it was funny (hilarious even) when I read the article - not having heard anything about it from a fan's perspective first. It had to have just sucked for everyone involved. I am sure they aren't HAPPY about it. In my opinion, the band was warned about pigeon problem, they saw the opening bands deal with it, and they went into their set with a negative frame of mind. I am sure they were pissed that they even had to deal with it - think about it... traveling around the country playing for screaming fans every night, not being home, having to play in heat and rain and still loving it- can't say if I was shit on I wouldn't be a pouty whiny diva too. I am sure their actions were meant to prove something to the VENUE - not the fans. If you went to work and a pigeon sat above you and shat on you - wouldn't you want to leave?
I was at a show once that abruptly ended due to the lead singer getting injured and being taken away in an ambulance. They didn't tell us what happened either, they just threw the lights up, security came out and started herding us out. It was chaos. Scary, scary chaos. The sadness, confusion, disappointment is all the same. You're allowed that, even though the circumstances were different.

KOL had their tour bus ready to go and never intended on playing a complete show. www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/article_809fa95b-31a9-5f14-aa3f-c3c97cf20cb6.html"But the venue source said the band decided when it learned about the pigeon droppings that it would not do a complete show. The band was urged to move a couple of feet to the left or right, in effect dodging the droppings, but the band decided against it, the source said, and instead had its tour bus backed up to the rear of the stage so it could make a hasty exit. "They weren't planning on dealing with the bird. They just dealt with how to get out of there," the source said."

They knew about the pigeons before they even arrived at the venue.... the venue warned them about it. The set list was also 4 songs shorter than normal.
Who knows...

I don't think it's fair to judge them based on random articles or random people who claim to be close to the band... no "source" is going to be accurate.
There's always going to be someone out there trying to make up lies/make them look bad *cough cough* the nashville scene! Or somebody out there defending them to the death. Either way stories get stretched.
All I can base my opinion off is from what I saw with my own eyes and my own past experiences at that venue (which are massive! i've been there too many times to count) and my own gut feelings about the band. Whatever the newspapers or people claiming to know the band... or even their press release says none of it is 100% truth.

The rock group Kings of Leon cancelled their show in St. Louis over the weekend after three songs because a pigeon was pooping on them. I happen to be Facebook friends with the bird in question, and he sent me the following explanation: Hey Lee, Look, you know I'm a music fan. I flew 1,200 miles on a busted wing just to catch the last half of Bonaroo. I haven't missed a Tom Petty show since the Damn the Torpedoes tour. Heck, the most exciting day of my life was when Ozzy bit my uncle's head off at one of the Blizzard of Oz shows. So when I heard Kings of Leon were playing at the local Verizon Amphitheater, I figured, screw it, what else is a pigeon going to do on a hot Friday night? I get to the venue, and I see they're charging $150 a ticket, and I flat out refuse to pay that much. Why? Two reasons. One, that's before service charges. After the "convenience fee," the "venue fee" and the "fee fee," we're looking at two bills, easy. And second of all, I'm a pigeon, and who in the frig is going to give a pigeon a credit card? Besides Discover. So I say screw it, and I fly right into the amphitheater. I settle down in section three, row FF. Choice seats, I'm telling you. The show's about to start, I'm already nibbling on an overpriced corporate hotdog someone left on the ground. All of a sudden, this fat douche wad with a yellow windbreaker that says SECURITY chases me away! I'm like, "Watch it, Needlepenis!" But then he gets the rest of the windbreaker gestapo to shoo me away. So what's a bird to do? I head up and find a private spot on the rafters. Not the best seat in the house, but listen, smoke rises, so maybe I'll at least end up with a decent contact high. The band finally comes on, they open with some song I never heard of (huge pet peeve). Meanwhile, my little pigeon stomach starts feeling funny. Probably that overpriced freakin' hotdog I ate before. I'm looking around for the men's room, and not only is there a line (like the chicks usually have), but Needlepenis is standing guard right there! So I says to myself, "Screw it, I'm a pigeon, this is what pigeons do," and I let one go right on the bass player. I was aiming for the empty space next to his amp, but what am I, an Olympic f--king pooper? The song ends, they go into the next one. And I never heard this one neither! C'mon, boys, Daddy wants the hits. So I send them a little squirt, just to let them know I'm not kidding around here. Boom! Right on the bass player again (it's not my fault bass players don't move around much). Now I see the guys looking up at me, and I'm like, "That's right, bitches, I didn't pay $150 to hear the b-sides." Actually, I didn't pay $150 at all, but that's neither here nor there. Let's get some "Sex On Fire" up in here. Third song. What the hell is this?! This sounds like bad Neil Young karaoke. That's it. I open up a can of whoop ass on them. Okay, it was just a can of ass. But this time, guns blazing. It looked like when the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man exploded on the guy at the end of Ghostbusters. They stop playing. I'm thinking, "Good. Message received." Maybe now I'll get to hear "Use Somebody," or at least something that's been on the radio once or twice. But no! These mother f--ckers put down their instruments and walk off the freaking stage! Then some roadie comes out and says they're cancelling the rest of the show due to "safety concerns." Safety concerns? Look, I've ruined a few nice jackets in my time, but what kind of pussies think getting crapped on by some of my excrement counts as putting their lives at risk? Isn't this rock 'n' roll? Even Bon Jovi (not a fan) played a show with a torn calf muscle. Maybe he could teach the Vaginas of Leon a thing or two about giving fans their money's worth. Anyway, I'm sorry to vent, but this experience really ruffled my feathers. Thanks for listening. Hopefully I'll have a better time at the Rush concert next week. If you want to catch up with me there, I'll be perched right on top of Geddy Lee's nose. Unless they take Discover. Don't know if this has been posted yet... Article about the situation...http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b192076_Kings_of_Leon__Pigeon_S__t_Happens__Concert_Doesn_t.html Pretty much the same thing that every other article has said. I decided to scroll down and view the comments and I found this... "I have worked there for 2 years and this is the first time a band has ever complained about birds doing this. Kings of Leon think they are some thing special and when they found out they only sold 8000 tickets at a place that could hold 20000 people they got mad. 2 hours before the show they hired there own private secirty to get them off stage and on the bus fast. The contract stated that they only had to play 3 song so they did and left. The band is not going to get to come back there i can tell you that much. and trust me the truth is going to spread fast and there going to have a hard time getting gigs now. Sounds checks are done at 4 so any bird that was around got the **** out after that. first three bands have already said that they had no problem so Kings of Leon just wanted to leave." I'm going to be really upset if this is true

^Hmmm. I tend to take 'I work there/I was there at the time' comments with a pinch of salt. Especially as there's no doubt that birds were shitting on them, whereas that guy says 'any bird that was around got the **** out after that.'
Plus, I thought there were only two support bands? (I could be totally wrong there, I apologise if that's the case). Surely someone who was working there that night would know how many bands played? And, again, there's no doubt the support bands were shat on, even if they did continue unlike KoL.

^ I don't understand how the first few bands had "no problem" according to that but if you read other reviews they say their clothes were splatted and they had to be wiped off. How do we know who to believe!?
