I love the boys but that is exactly what annoys the shit out of me about them. All they did was complain about how they wanted to be bigger and they wanted to sell out stadiums and once it started happening they're getting annoyed with it. What the hell did they expect? Im sorry but thats very unfair!! As far as i can tell they were complaining of jet lag they didnt say "jebus look at us we won a grammy, isnt it awful, all we wanna do is go back to being a 'pocket band'!" I havent heard them say anywhere that they are annoyed with anything, unless u can read minds then saying that they are is not fair. They have been touring more or less non stop, they have been on the go more or less non stop for months, they have produced a multi platinum album, they have commitments outside of music (ie family and relationships) that they have to attend to, they are human give them a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

karma claire! i agree with you 100%!!!
regarding the initial topic started by peps- the question of whether the kings (particularly caleb) are nostalgic for the pre-sex on fire days....
i think that perhaps the grammys were some sort of turning point for them. they might have realized that they are now one tiny step away from moving away from raw rockers to sort of "pop stars." they did the red carpets, they did the interviews, they felt the pressure of a grammy nomination. many of things come with perks but some of the downsides might make them nostalgic for a time before they had this level of success.
maybe they're yearning for a time when their schedule was more about having fun playing music instead of playing music and then trying to find time to have fun.
i hope they find the right balance. after the canceled gig in barcelona, it's ok to question their pace for sure!

I don't think it's unfair at all. It wasn't jetlagged they were complaining about, it's the fact that Sex on Fire is such a huge song and so are their concerts. The fact that the OP saw them make that face to each other and make the comment about that song and how they were happy to be playing a smaller venue shows their annoyance with how big its gotten. And the fact that they have been saying for a while since this album came out about how America has just now jumped on the band wagon, they've been saying it with annoyance like they don't like all the sudden attention. I'm not saying they regret it all but I do think they are annoyed with just how much attention they're getting even though they wanted it. But hey that's just me.

maybe the bad feelings/words were tiredness before the start of this illness. i know i always have at least a few days of lethargy or fatigue type feeling before any illness where you do feel a bit like the world is conspiring against you. anyone else???

But hey that's just me. i dont particularly agree and i think maybe you are basing your very strong opinions on rumour and reading between the lines and stuff, as far as im aware the guys havn't been saying they are annoyed that the usa is only just giving them awards and stuff from what iv seen reporters are asking them those questions and they havn't completely denied that its weird that some people are only just catching on. anyway its cool if thats what you think i just personally find the way you said it as if it is total fact not just opinion a bit ummmm difficult.

I agree Kim, and in hindsight and with more info it does seem highly likely that they were feeling off on the nite and perhaps the looks that were observed suggested "oh god I dont have the energy for this song [SOF]" as opposed to anything else!!!
Thanks for karma Ruth, have some back!!

Maybe Caleb isn't having as much "Sex on Fire" anymore because he's too tuckered out from all the touring, attention, etc. *attempting a little Nicole humor*

I think the Kings complain to much anyways But that's a story for another thread!

I get that many of you think I'm just reading between the lines and seeing things that aren't there but I honestly think you all are just ignoring the facts due to your love for the boys. I love Kings but I'm not going to lie to myself and ignore all the things they've said about America and all the ungrateful attitudes they've had about their fame. Of course they're not saying these things in interviews, its all the reports that people are saying after going to their shows and once Caleb starts blabbing to the crowd... that's when their true feelings come out.

KoL wanted OBTN to be such a success? I mean, obviously they want their albums to sell and stuff, but like, just this album. Compared to the others OBTN is such a huge success. What got me thinking about it was, yesterday at their gig in Copenhagen - before playing SOF - Caleb said: "I think you all know this song... and if you don't, that's a good thing." and then in the chorus when obviously, everyone sang along, I'm sure I saw Jared kind of... smile sarcastically at Caleb. <- and Caleb looked like that. And then, a little later, he said something like "We're kinda jetlagged, haven't slept properly for a while, and we've been playing these huge crowds and arenas for the last couple of months. So it feels good being here, and we'll make this a fucking good night." I guess you could interpret that in several ways, but it sounded pretty much as if he misses playing in small arenas, with more intimate crowds. Oh, and he also said "I'm so fucking tired. I hope you don't mind if I get a little drunk." He even said that twice. Maybe I'm just stupid and worrying too much, but i don't want them to get worn out, you know? Any thoughts? Thats a very good question Molly. Ummm i have no idea what the answer is, but i am a bitter old biatch sometimes, so i would be happy on the inside if they didnt like all the newfound attention.. cause i can't explain it. it would make me feel like they're the true musicians.. you know, the ones who only do it for the music, not the popularity, etc. But i love kol (derrr) and so i have always known they only do it for the music.. i have never doubted it. i wonder what the answer is haha!

Haha its funny you said that. That just made me think about how desperate they have been for fame. I think with their first album they just wanted to make good music. Then with AHA they wanted to prove themselves as badass artists and then with BOTT they wanted to reach more people (this stems from Caleb even saying they wrote Camaro with the intention of getting more American listeners) and then with OBTN they just desperately wanted popularity in the States and now that they have it I personally think they're a bit tired or annoyed with it.

That is such an interesting perspective i never thought about it like that. I had never read that camaro comment anywhere (learn something new everyday aye ) .. when you say tired and annoyed do you mean annoyed and tired from the new attention and popularity? (now that i think about it, i think thats the only thing you could of meant haha im so dumb) I guess i could never assert that they have never wanted fame. what would i know? what would any of us know? we don't personally know them and we arent inside their heads, so i don't know! i'd just like to think they didnt want that all along.. kol have meant so much to me over the years and when u love a band who is semi unknown, (and this will sound cheesy), u grow to be protective, territorial and they seem like family sometimes. its true, man. For some reason i feel like theyve never wanted all this new attention, but then i listen to OBTN and (in my opinion) its just sooooo avergae that i think, "shit, maybe this was made like this so they gain new fans.".. and i think that because its not musically challenging.. its just...mediocre .. and thats my rationale

I don't wanna sound mean...But I kinda think it's true for a lot of people Anyway sxesadie, I very much agree with what you're saying!! [edit] That doesn't mean to say I don't notice the 99% good things the boys say!

Personally I dont think Im ignoring any facts, I do think I am being a bit more positive in how I am viewing some stuff and not being American I dont have an issue in this regard!! I also think maybe I am not as quick to judge something that happens on stage when I dont have the context and/or enough information to do so. I am however copped on enough to know that the human condition is such that we strive for more, why wouldnt we, why wouldnt the kings, isnt that what life is all about? Sometimes we get to a place we thought we'd love but we find its different to how we imagine. So what do we do? We talk about it so why wouldnt KOL do the same??? U want them to shut up and put up? I sure as hell dont!! I definately think they are tired and I think that they are possibly ill prepared for fame in America and what that means especially when America is so celeb driven. Up to now they've been able to have time at home and get away from the madness that is the KOL jaugernaut, that may change now but I dont think it has changed that much yet. KOL are still relatively unkown in the States!!! Anytime I've seen the kings live they have been nothing but thankful to people for turning up at their shows and helping them on their way to where they are now, and that includes the MSG show where Caleb mentioned that show was a dream come true, thank you and that he thought they had one of the last loyal fan bases in rock n roll (or something like that). Again, KOL are human, allow them some slack!! I have a whole heap more to say on this issue but ill leave it at that for now :-p
