KoL wanted OBTN to be such a success? I mean, obviously they want their albums to sell and stuff, but like, just this album. Compared to the others OBTN is such a huge success. What got me thinking about it was, yesterday at their gig in Copenhagen - before playing SOF - Caleb said: "I think you all know this song... and if you don't, that's a good thing." and then in the chorus when obviously, everyone sang along, I'm sure I saw Jared kind of... smile sarcastically at Caleb. <- and Caleb looked like that. And then, a little later, he said something like "We're kinda jetlagged, haven't slept properly for a while, and we've been playing these huge crowds and arenas for the last couple of months. So it feels good being here, and we'll make this a fucking good night." I guess you could interpret that in several ways, but it sounded pretty much as if he misses playing in small arenas, with more intimate crowds. Oh, and he also said "I'm so fucking tired. I hope you don't mind if I get a little drunk." He even said that twice. Maybe I'm just stupid and worrying too much, but i don't want them to get worn out, you know? Any thoughts?

Aww thats kinda sad if they are getting worn out, im sure its worth all the hard work tho I much prefer to go see bands at smaller gigs so maybe its the same feeling when your there if you know what i mean, all of the fans are enjoying it more?

aww.. glad to hear you had a great time but no trani??? that's a bummer.. anyway.. i'm glad that they're going on a grand tour this spring/summer but i must say that i do worry about them getting burnt out fast and with more dates springing up every now and then i wonder if it's their call or their management's want to cash in on their recent success.. anyway, i hope the boys get a good break whether it's the end of this year or all of next year.. because in the end of a long adventure, we all like being in the comforts of our own homes and sleeping in our own beds

YEY Pep's glad you have a great time! I've been trying to come up with something constructive to say about your worries. But i can't ... yet. I read this earlier in the Spain thread .. ^^ Have a great time at KB, and don't forget to report back in the Copenhagen thread! The Copenhagen thread is locked, so I'm just reporting back here! First of all: set listCrawl Taper Jean Girl My Party Molly's Chambers Closer Fans Revelry Milk Four Kicks Wasted Time Sex on Fire The Bucket On Call Use Somebody Cold Desert Slow Night So Long Encore: Knocked Up Charmer Black Thumbnail I saw them at Roskilde this summer, and I must honestly say that they were better back then. It was still a great show, but I just really wanted to hear California Waiting, King of the Rodeo and Manhattan, but they didn't play those... I had to fight for my life during Fans, haha, people were moshing really badly. And I went alone, which sucked a little bit. But all in all, a good show, but Caleb kept complaining about jet lag, and they were not too energetic unfortunately!

no trani i was thinking about shouting "PLAY TRANNIIIIII!!" really loud inbetween songs, but i'd be too embarrassed if no one heard me and they obviously wouldn't listen to me anyway hah Are they touring all spring long? i thought it was just feb & march. god, i can understand why they have to get drunk all the time.

Maybe a case of be careful what u wish for I actually didnt realise they were touring already and Im not surprised they're f**king shattered, I hope they learn how to take time off and look after themselves soon. How long can they keep doing this for??? Its admirable that they want to live it up and enjoy every second but i hope they dont burn out........for their own sakes Im not surprised they didnt do trani, I dont think they all like doing it so maybe they put the foot (feet) down!!! I just dont know how they keep going!

Maybe it's a good thing that the people around where they live don't know or care who they are. gives them a break! Sometimes i don't get this band cause one minute they're saying they want it and the next they seem to be complaining about it. surely they must realise how influential they are already but they don't seem to give the impression that they do. which is worrying. they still seem to think of themselves as normal guys and are still trying to realise what the fuss is all about. really, i don't understand that as endearing as it is. as for all the touring, they've always toured their arses off. i don't know who's decision that is but there record company should be held up on human rights charges if it ain't what the band particularly wants. i get that in the early days it must have been the only place they'd want to be other than the studio and now maybe they've pushed themselves into a corner cause with the latest success they don't really have a choice the pressure from rca for one must be immense! I'd love to see them playing smaller venues again but i can't see that being particularly likely right now. It probably pisses them off that they're attracting fickle fans, like with sex on fire, those who just wanna hear a repeat of sex on fire over and over and over again. that pisses me off even as a fan! so yeah they perhaps are getting sick of it esp' as they don't seem to rate the song as high as others. i'd be surprised that any new fan they gain hasn't first come to them through a love of SoF. so, i think sarcastic comments are probably gna be heard for quite a while longer yet

Going back to the SOF thing, when i was at the gig in cardiff, caleb was like "i suppose we had better play this one" in a sort of do we have to kind of a way, and then they played sex on fire

the first couple of times must have been awesome for them though! the crowd always goes potty when they play it, it gives you chills to hear a kings song sung like that. the novelty has perhaps worn off now though lol

I just dont know how they keep going! Same here, they've always said how they don't like to leave a too big gap between records because they don't want to be forgotten and someone else get their shot at fame or whatever but they are massive here now and could easily take a year off or two and still come back with a bang, they seem to have a really dedicated fanbase too as Caleb said at MSG so all over the world people would remember them! They've been touring so much over the past 6 years and since October it's been almost non stop and looks like it will be til end of summer. Then they want to go back into the studio in November! I suppose that's not quite so draining as touring (just guessing, obviously I don't know first hand) but wasn't there talk about next cd in 2010? That feels so close, then they'll tour a lot after that I presume. I keep worrying the next record will be their last, I guess Jared and Matt are still really young in a way, but Caleb and Nate are nearly 30 so surely will want to take a step back a little in a few years? I really don't want them to burn out too quickly, they have something no other band seems to have like they do, it would be a shame for it to end soon Sorry this is so long winded, I Just needed to get my thoughts/worries down haha

yeah you are right sarah, caleb and nate might start thinking about family soon and if they feel they have to work as hard as this constantly then they might feel they cant do both. so i hope they soon find more of a balance so they feel they can do all the things they want and still tour and make records, other bands seem to manage it.
