^^ any chance I can borrow that when ur finished?? Thanx Ruth I am actually sitting here waiting for my flight trying to hold back some tears ugh. I feel like a soap bubble, all hallow and easy to pop at any moment. While the months/weeks/days leading up to these gatherings are filled so much anticipation, the days after are filled with sadness I so know that feeling, i was crying on the plane home from NYC I agree with u too about meeting kick arse people on here, if it wasnt for KOL id never have had the privelege (sp?) of meeting you all (& some I have yet to meet). So if KOL turn out to be a shower of bastards (which I dont think/hope wont happen)....

I would totally disagree, they havent changed much. I would evan say that they are more generous with their fans now then they ever were in the 'older' days. I have met them as many times as they have ignored me. I would say they are more approachable now than ever before, the band of 2005 are a million miles from the band of today.
In my experience it is all to do with how the band feels and how the show went, if they are feeling bad or tired, or the crowd didnt rock hard etc then they wont come out afterwards.
For example, I won a competition from XFM to see KOL live in April 2007 with 200 people, the gig was amazing and we were soo close to the band it was perfect, I and the organisers of the event just assumed they would come out afterwards and meet the fans and sign stuff etc but they just left out a back door without a word. So it is the same then as it is now.
And when it comes down to it, they are only human, as long as they keep delivering great shows and great music that is the only thing that matters, they dont owe us anything!!

^^^ I bought the book on Amazon last night after Jay told me about it. Can't wait to have a read! I just came from Branes & Noble, it was not in stock so they had to order it for me but it should be delivered to my home in a couple of days. The guy I ordered it from was actually a big fan of the Bay City Rollers and we got into the lengthy discussion about bands, and being fans of certain bands, etc. Thanks for the book suggestion Jay, I would love to hear what you think about it Ruth when your done. Lol this feels like a HA mini book club!

"Near the end of the show, Followill acknowledged the band’s recent jump in popularity and explosion of new fans telling the crowd, “A lot of you probably don’t know ‘Sex on Fire’ wasn’t the first song we ever wrote. So for all the rest of you who’ve been with us from the beginning, we appreciate all the support.” A shrewd diplomat, that one."Shrewd diplomat? Can't say I've ever thought of Caleb Followill as a diplomat.

Review from Boston Globe: Driving many of the songs was Jared Followill's bass, which churned during "Charmer" and the popping, off-kilter "McFearless" and thrummed during "Notion" and " Cold Desert," which with its lyrical guitar and deliberate tempo was "Purple Rain" as played by the Cure. The bassist also provided a buzzing rumble on "My Party," giving it a disco flavor echoed in the pulsating "Heart of Glass" feel he gave to "Fans." Oh my god, YES! This is true! AND THE HEART OF GLASS BIT....so so right, never occurred to me before....good review.

Sorry to bring this up again but reading through this thread just wanted to say I saw on the official Kings of Leon forum some people that met Caleb right after one of the Boston shows. They said he was really nice and took pictures with them and signed some stuff. The pictures are posted over there but I won't steal them and post them here cos that would be rude I guess. They also saw Nathan and Jessie. So I guess they do still meet fans. Well, Caleb does. No clue about the other three

Cass, Arlyn and Jen are going to be heartbroken!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, yes I am. Also can I just say how knowing that the boys are in D.C tonight hanging out before their concert tomorrow is making me giddy. If I wasn't sick and trying to get better before tomorrow I would so be out and about to see if I could get a pic. Oh well, hopefully everything will work out tomorrow!
