I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, & I am relatively new to happy alone... so bare with me . My first time seeing Kings Of Leon is in a few weeks, and my friend and I were wondering if they are touring alone- or do they have any band(s) opening up for them?

Yup, they always have at least one support band. Support on the last US tour (in Oct/Nov) came from We Are Scientists and The Stills. M83 supported them on the UK/Ireland tour they just finished.
As far as I remember, The Whigs are supporting them again on the US dates this month - they've toured with the Kings before.

When I saw the pumpkins for the 3rd time, (most recent tour) they played 3 hrs straight... no opening bands, which I wouldn't be sad if KOL did the same . My tickets for the jan 21st show were given to me for christmas. I didn't know much about the show other than how to get there via map quest and KOL would obviously be there, which was plenty good enough for me.

That's cool that the Pumpkins play so long. I saw Ryan Adams & The Cardinals recently and they played 2.5 hours, no support. You can check out The Whigs on myspace - www.myspace.com/thewhigsBecs, I haven't heard anything about their support band on the European dates in Feb. It won't be M83 cos they're supporting The Killers that month.

They wouldn't have M83 again anyway as its a new tour. I feel sorry for those Killers fans.

No Becs - you're safe, they're only supporting the Killers in the US.
I really like M83, but they were a woeful choice of support for the Kings (and likewise The Killers). I'm sure there are loads of KOL fans who would like their music in another setting, but not when you're getting pumped up for KOL. It's a shame.

Manchester Orchestra where great on the BOTT Tour. Was pissed off that BRMC played the English dates and never came to Ireland. More than made up for it with their Cork gig though.

Really surprised to see all the hate for M83, especially when KoL has been raving about them for a good while now. Saturdays=Youth is a damned good album, as is Before the Dawn Heals Us.

I'm sure i'd really like M83 if i listened to their album but they were definately the WRONG choice as opener for KOL. Way too mellow, i wanted someone that would get me in the mood for the boys coming on. I did feel very sorry for them on the tour though as they didnt get a great response. I'm blaming Jared for this one :-)

I'm blaming Jared for this one :-) Agreed. I felt bad for them on tour, they really got a bad response: a bad response for a bad choice, not a bad band. Though it wasn't just that they're too mellow live, their whole live set-up is just meh. Facing each other instead of the audience & not using most of the stage etc doesn't exactly enhance their performance. I liked them the first night of the tour (Brighton) cos I had been looking forward to hearing Saturdays=Youth live and thought it sounded good. The female vocalist/keyboardist rocked too. But I didn't watch them at any of the other dates. I figure a band like The Stills would have done well on the UK/Ire tour. I'd love to have seen them play with BMRC too. My favourite support for KOL so far has been Glasvegas at Brixton. That was awesome.
