i agreee with what he's saying but i don't know about RIP bit because i think that the album was rushed to build on their popularity caused by headlining Glasto. So i think with a bit of time off they will come back with an album as good as or even better than BOTT.

Ok, this is what Liam said to Rolling Stone:
Are there any bands at the moment you're digging?
The band that I like at the moment is Kasabian. They've got it; they've got the look, the tunes, they say just the right amount of stuff, they don't fucking rub it and rub it and rub it. I like them and the Arctic Monkeys are great, but they're not rock stars. That's really it. I like the Kings of Leon, but I don't know about this fucking new record. I like the old stuff, but I like his voice, you can always tell his voice when it comes on. But it seems to me they've gone for the bucks, man. When they first come out I was going, "Who the fuck is this?" They were cool and now they've all got their sleeves cut off. And I'm not dissing them because I fucking really like them, but it's like they've got this U2 sound and you can do better than that.
I really can't see his comment as a big thing, he's just saying he doesn't get the new album, but he still likes KOL. I love Oasis, I love Liam and I'm quite happy to see that he can say his opinion in quite a respectful way when it comes to Kings Of Leon. He could have been all mean and just say that the album is shit, instead he praised the band and Caleb's voice.

^^You make a good point. And the more I think of it, I think this may be the only time Liam has criticized a bands work without completely slagging them off and calling it shit.

Anyone who has an opinion on this about anything on this site gets jumped on so hard. If you don't love every single thing that KOL do u get bomarderd from every quarter. I don't like Oasis at all myself but i kind of agree with what the Gallagher boy said.
I love KOL to death, how many people would go to a show to see them 9 days after having shoulder replacment surgery? Thats how much i love them. But i, like Liam dont like the new direction at all. Its too soft and doesn't rock. Caleb has the best voice in modern rock music, Hands down.
But he doesn't use his voice to its full potential on this record at all. I think thats what Liam is getting at. Would you rather hear Caleb going full pelt singing "Joe's Head" live. The way he just explodes with raw emotion and power and the end scream his lungs to bits about fat stinky fred. Or sway back n forth the ok song that is "Revelry" I know what i'd prefer.
I fell in love with a rock n roll band not a band to sway back n forth too. But besides all of that i'll still support them to death. And i have the strong feeling that the next record could be make or break with alot of fans who've been with them from day one.
One question if KOL brought out a dance record next what percentage of HA's would love it?
And this is just what I personally feel, but not doubt i'm not allowed to so just smite me now lol

I remember Liam being asked in a interview on the radio if he liked arctic monkeys and he didn't know who they were and said with a name like that they're not going to go very far

That's great Liam likes Kasabian so much but I haven't heard much else about them lately...and as for his own band, I haven't felt compelled to buy an Oasis album in years. However, it is really stupid and crazy how the press is really jumping on his statement and making it sound like he's totally slagging-off on KOL. Who knows if he's even listened to the entire thing or heard it more than once?
And why shouldn't we get upset if someone disses KOL on here? I come here to share my love of the band with other like-minded fans, not to hear negativity about them. I thought that's what a fansite was for?

I thought that's what a fansite was for? Because then that causes problems....Its one thing if someone is totally being an ass saying "The kings suck" Then I would totally understand why you would get upset.. But if someone says oh I don't like the new album..Then there is no reason to get upset, everyone has their own opinion and they should be able to state it without getting jumped on.

Unfortunately though you are quite right - it happens. I don't like to think that people are put off giving their opinion about anything on here. Unfortunately I think that probably happens too. I'm giving you karma for saying it. I do partly agree with you, because I didn't like BOTT, as much as ASH, and though I do love some of OBTN very much, overall I don't like it as much as BOTT. I too am wondering about the next record. I really do think there is amazing potential there, but I'm accepting that KOL may go somewhere I don't want to go. And good luck to them - I just want them to do what they want to do, and I've said a lot of this before so i won't go on. Regarding the next record - if it's a dance record and I like it I'm just gonna pretend it's by someone else!! If Jared goes all funkadelic and reincarnates himself as Bootsy Collins - Now that's something I would pay money to see! I might even forget to be upset!! (those skinny wee legs on 6 inch platforms.......the biggest badass sparkly sunglasses.......) Hell, I might dress up m'self!!

Karma to u for one the most sensible respones i've heard for such along time on here. Little things like what you've said still give me hope that all of us KOL fans dont have blinkers on and as much as we love our band to death we are alittle bit afraid of what the future holds. P-Funk KOL? Caleb with dreads being Africa Bambata singing Planet Rock. Gotta be a something to behold. But i suppose with Calebs range he wouldnt need Effects on his vocals. All hail P-Funk KOL. lol

thanks for the karma, papscrunt (You're not the first to give me karma for being sensible lately, I'm getting me a rep - this has got to stop!)

Liam Gallagher could say that he truley believes the sun rises out of Calebs ass every morning and I'd still think he was an idiot!!

Like someone else said, this is basically what a lot of people on here have said, but this is just from someone famous.
I'm not a fan of Liam myself but I'm impressed by the way he worded his sentence, instead of going all guns blazing.

^^ what he said haha. Honestly i don't see the point with this thread..? we've all been discussing this a thousand times and pretty much know where we stand, why would anyone care what Liam Gallagher thinks? As I've said before I like OBTN. I think 4 YAYM style records in a row would have bored me to death and I'm looking forward to seeing KoL trying new sounds and growing as a band

I personally think Liam was being very respectfull to the Kings, ive heard him really slate other bands to the point its just down right nasty but i think he shared an opinion that a lot of die hard KOL fans have thought aswell, he never said he hated them he just said he wasnt digging the new album and its a fair point, its not particularly my fave album either but i can still see it as a good album (if that makes any sense ) sawyer you will be coming back with your tail between your legs when they rock the socks off the next album!

I really get what liam said also. I'm not sure I totally agree, but he makes a good point. Haha, bondoo6 I feel your pain- I guess it was bound to happen- the wave of new fans? I mean if something is good it's bound to get more popular eventually? I found the kids rocking up to their tour at the start this year unbelievably painful.. I am not looking forward to seeing who turns up to the next one.
