im particularly fond of matt's singing on use somebody  and i really really really love the studio version of manhattan. you can hear caleb so clearly  and notion is awesome. gah i love the album (and i know i said i wasn't going to download it. but i caved within seconds. im a hipocrite with no will power... but what you gonna do? haha plus ive pre-ordered it on iTunes and am going to by the hard copy CD, + tickets/merch/singles so the Kings will get more than enough of my money to make up for the d/l. ) |

Manhattan sounds a bit the same as the live version in my eyes, wich is a good thing, cause that prooves that they're an awesome live band again
17 sounds like a christmas jingle indeed, I don't like it .
I can't see why no one has posted something about be somebody?!! Everyone here's talkin' about Use somebody, revelry,closer..
I think BE SOMEBODY could be one of the best KOL songs ever!!

CAN'T WAIT to hear Cold Desert live. I love every track on the album but this one is the one I'm at the moment dying to hear live.... man, I'm happy!!

This album is pretty boring. Well, boring for KOL. We're used to their music derived from them being tweeked up and those days are gone. They have become more boring and I really think it reflects in their new music. All the boring music in the album made me like Crawl and Sex on Fire the most. I do love notion to say, and closer is totally amazing. 17 had me choosing at the beginning with the Christmas style bells but the ASH style drum fills really saved it. I want you is fucking annoying. Does anyone notice how this album seems to have a country feel to it? Kind of annoying. I think OBTN has rightfully placed the first three albums in their place as timeless class kings of leon. Only by the Night is definitely missing something. When I listened to the other 3 albums for the first time I always had the "bam!" type of feeling that only KOL could induce. Its depressing knowing that the early music is gone. Yeah this is exactly how i feel. I love Closer and Notion but the rest... not sure to be honest. Could still grow on me though. |

Well I love it. Closer and Cold Desert are particularly sublime.
It is very different again. It is slower, and more 'country' I suppose, but wouldn't you be bored of another 10 King of the Rodeo's? I think the fact it's so different makes it better.

I've not had the opportunity to d/l the leaked album yet but I have managed to find a blog which had posted the full version of Use Somebody so I got a listen to that and it sounds great although it seems a bit like 3 songs in one, I dunno if anyone will get what I mean but theres like 3 parts in the song that just seem so different to each other lol...I still love it though I'm even more eager to hear it now after reading this thread haha |
