Long time kol fan here, and let me say I have already preordered the deluxe cd and the LP from best buy. Just listened to the cd. its rad. Closer, Cold desert, use somebody, crawl, manhatten and sex on fire are awesome. cold desert sounds like a new age skynyrd. 17, notion and i want you are good, and im sure will grow on me the more i listen to them. use somebody is my early fav. but they are all solid. I would love anything they sing though.

I was really hoping for some more Taper jean girl upbeat type of songs on here, there isnt one. Still a good album. I think bott is still their best album, it had a mix of all the different types of songs from every album almost.

Be Somebody is amazing, I can't believe more people haven't mentioned it! Notion is can see being a stadium anthem, everyone chanting along.
Part of the melody line, also played as a guitar lick a few times, of Cold Desert is really familiar, i can't quite put my finger on it

This album is pretty boring. Well, boring for KOL. We're used to their music derived from them being tweeked up and those days are gone. They have become more boring and I really think it reflects in their new music. All the boring music in the album made me like Crawl and Sex on Fire the most.
I do love notion to say, and closer is totally amazing. 17 had me choosing at the beginning with the Christmas style bells but the ASH style drum fills really saved it. I want you is fucking annoying. Does anyone notice how this album seems to have a country feel to it? Kind of annoying.
I think OBTN has rightfully placed the first three albums in their place as timeless class kings of leon. Only by the Night is definitely missing something. When I listened to the other 3 albums for the first time I always had the "bam!" type of feeling that only KOL could induce. Its depressing knowing that the early music is gone.

yo, it feels like you descibed this album exactly? 17 reminded me exactly of a christmas song? I was thinking they should have just saved that song and changed the lyrics and released it as a christmas song? I think it would make a lot better of a rock christmas type of song than a kings of leon song on an album. I mean the album is good and all but Nothing Nothing at all like BOTT or any other albums. Im a huge kings of leon fan so to say im sorta disapointed is kinda bad. I think they should have just waited and wrote songs for a 2 disc album, maybe like the foo fighters album that is half rock songs, half acoustic, most of these songs being the acoustic songs or not as heavy songs. Also I do hear country in some of their songs and i've never really heard that before, and I hate country music, I repeat, I hate country music. I hope the b-side that is released with the deluxe version is a heavier song than the rest of the songs on here cause like you said, this album is kinda boring. Good, but boring. This album is pretty boring. Well, boring for KOL. We're used to their music derived from them being tweeked up and those days are gone. IDK didnt the band listen to the songs and think.. wait can people really get into these songs and move around to them like taper jean girl, mollys chambers, fans etc.... these are all just good melodies but boring songs. I know caleb said he wrote some really melodic songs but all the songs i think he just tried to hard to go up and down with the notes to make them catchy or something. Also they said they always compare their albums with the strokes to see who has the better album. Do you think the strokes would put all slow songs like that on an album? If they played just this album alone live IDK what the crowd would think..wait i'd know... that this is a prettymellow chill band that I might need to take drugs to get that into it.
