i think the new album is definitely "new territory" as aforementioned in one of the previous posts. i kind of like that whole new sound they're generating. even though the new stuff might sound so much more different than the southern Youth and Young Manhood, it's still very good music. it might sound a bit "commercial-y," but i dont know....i'm really digging the whole new style the kings are throwing at us. but as i've said once before, anything the kings do, i'll stick by. if the whole world's against one of their albums, i'd be the only one bobbing my head and singing along to the lyrics. crawl, sex on fire, use somebody, manhattan, i want you, closer, bloody all good stuff! caleb's voice in all of them is just phenomenial! okay, i'm finished talking. that's my whole opinion on the new album. i cannot wait! xx

I wouldn't be surprised if Album 5 is the real deal. I have a feeling this album was a little forced, a song from ASH?... pushed release capitalising on Glastonbury..... I hope they tour their asses off once more and then take a good 6 months out chilling out and getting some rest, and then, because they have "made it". They take their time and make one hell of an album. In the mean time I'm going to enjoy all the music they have made, because at then end of the day, this album has some killer tracks on it. totally agree! some of the songs do feel a bit unfinished..or that they rushed the writing process.. because..i dont know about you guys.. but i feel there are alotta great parts to the album... which are let down by others which just dont match up to KOL standard so album 5! lol however i feel thatll take a few years to release.

They've just talked so much about how the process of making this album was for the first time just a positive one. A time of them coming together and having a good time. And it makes sense to me when i compare it to the first three. It's not so agitated like the others (should not be considered a negative thing).
But i also believe its perfectly acceptable to have other feelings about it. It's at least art right?

woh, just noticed the whistle on closer about ten seconds in. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i hear no whistle...i hear the amazing guitars... there's an article where caleb says matt did this thing with his guitar and that matt (or maybe it was caleb) said it sounded like the satan crying...and well, i definitely think they were talking about this track. He said the sound was on a couple of others also... Anywho...where's the whistling?

It sounds like it could be Jared.. but my friend said it was Matt. Does anyone knooww? xx ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hear "Oh, Lady..." Sounds to me like:oh Lady (sang as:"Oh Lay-he-day")

Irony is- KoL's internet fan base ripping their albums before they're released. Irony is nice. Couldabeen, you should wait till it comes out so you can get that feeling of going to the store and ripping the plastic off and hearing it with that new CD Case smell. Me? I fully intend to, and didn't realise I'd ever said something to the contrary...

I have now listened to OBTN 10 times from beginning to end and have come to one conclusion: THIS ALBUM IS AWFUL. Don't make an album if you don't have any good material. I love all the other albums equally but this one is a mess. It's like an album full of bad BOTT b-sides. There isn't one raw moment on the album and Caleb doesn't sound so good on the mix. Sex On Fire is a perfect example. You can't even hear the guitars but Caleb's vocals are so loud it's ridiculous. This would be a bad album for Jack Johnson never mind Kings Of Leon. Lyrically it needs some help and by judging off these songs it will be their worst tour to date. Hopefully they will get out of their 80's power ballad phase and make a good 5th album.

^^^ wow thats pretty harsh sounding likes...
I really like this album now that ive listened to it loads, i really appreciate it alot more now. I'm a real die hard KOL fan though and anything they do is going to be good to me, even though i was dubious at first listen. I don't think it will be a bad tour, theyve always been a live band, thats where theyre best at.
It's so weird how this album has divided the fan base.
if you don't like the album just don't listen to it. i hate all these people who are saying they feel betrayed by the kings because its not them. It is them. theyre just taking a enw direction, a band is allowed to change its sound other wise it becomes stagnant. like certain bands i know *personal opinion here don't hate me* (cough) muse (cough) but that just my opinion.
Like caleb says in Notion, Don't knock it lol

Perfectly put. 'Fans' need to realise this- or at least reaffirm themselves with this point. And anyway, surely how a band plays live is a true testimony of the kind of calibre that band is?! It's much more difficult to play live.
I wonder if for their next album they will go right back to the very beginning..and unearth the yaym sound once more?

Oh god yeah! If people could have audio orgasms I'd be coming out my ears!
He said himself that he consciously tried to sing alot clearer and prettier on this record because he felt the songs required it.
