i do really like some of the songs but there are seriuosly no "rockin'" songs Yeah, like theres not really anything on this that I can imagine goin CRAZZZZZZY to at a gig... It's VERY different from the original KOL but its good! It's gettin better with each listen for me

Ok a few people have said they would have liked a more rocking album but i think if KOL didnt release Crawl, Manhattan, Sex on Fire and a bit of Use Somebody I think that people would think it is a rocking album Does that make sense? (again im bad at portraying my opinions correctly) It makes perfect sense, I completely agree!!

It's obvious to me that all the nay sayers have yet to get high to the album. It fucking blows all their other shit out of the water. Ok maybe i shouldnt say that but this album is just so refreshing. I dont think its going to get old for me. It's going to be a classic in my book. Who cares that its not packed with cock rockin' jams. They've already done that and any further evolution in that area would just start to get redundent. This album is such an expansion in creativity. And his voice. Well, i'd be perfectly happy making love with him crooning in the back ground. Can't everyone just appreciate the album for what it is? You'll get more soon enough. Just enjoy what the artists have created and open up to it. I would say though that sex on fire is my least favorite on the album. But the others are gold. And as an american i really approve of crawls political message. Really great lyrics on this album in general. Huge improvement. I feel like i actually connect to at least 3/4's of the songs on it. Maybe thats why i like it so much. It wasnt the case with the others. I feel like we've been watching the airplane that is KOL slowly take off with each release of an album and now they're just soaring. First post, woot. p.s i dont see any reason to wait to listen to it. You just get to be cooler than everyone else. You're just obligated to buy it when it comes out. Believe me you'll want to. Nicely put! Karma

^^ I second that. Great take, rainman. I agree with everything you said. I concur wholeheartedly as an American too with the political outlook of Crawl. Have some more Karma

just looked on itunes Sex On Fire is numero uno and read one of the comments which said that it's the kings best song ever. NO it fucking isn't by about a mile. Even they wouldn't say its thier song. I so annoyed at these people. Haven't they listened to the last 3 albums!!!

I think I agree with a lot of the other reviews. It's kind of boring as an album. It has no balls. Some of the individual songs are great and I could see myself really enjoying them live but the sum of the album is not greater than its parts. I think Closer, Crawl, Sex On Fire, Use Somebody, and Notion are the best tracks on it. I agree with the earlier poster that the chorus of Be Somebody takes all the weight from song. It just completely neuters it. I agree that there is a definite country influence which hurts the final product more than it helps. I remember the first time I listened to BOTT. As much as I loved ASH, I could not believe they had made such a huge quantum leap to what was on BOTT. Sure, there were a few low key tracks like True Love Way and a snoozer in Ragoo, but otherwise, it was just a kick to the head in the best way. I remember walking to the train station and then getting the train to downtown and the whole way, my jaw would drop with each song. I couldn't believe they were able to make songs like Charmer, McFearless, My Party, Black Thumbnail, etc. This one? I listen to it and think this must be the next afternoon, when they're kind of hung over and napping. It's definitely KOL, it has the same basic flavor I've come to love from them, but it's just not very interesting.

Perhaps part of the problem is that they dropped Ethan Johns as their producer. The band seems happier, but the fans seem disappointed.

live i think they'll play use somebody sex on fire be somebody cold desert closer. I started to make my own list but then I realised I can actually see them playing every single song off this album live - maybe not all in one show but I think we might see a bit more rotation than before. I think Notion will probably be released and get a long-term place in their setlist. It reminds me a bit of Fans. I didn't realise how much OBTN was growing on me...

You'll get more soon enough. Just enjoy what the artists have created and open up to it. Well, conversely, I think that this album is covering territory that KOL have covered before and it is their weakest area. After the first four tracks, this is an album of Ragoos, Runners, and True Love Ways. I think that the Runner and True Love Way are great songs but I think they're also in the least impressive section of BOTT. None of the quieter tracks on here have even a fraction the weight or style of Arizona As for enjoying the album for what it is, it's kind of hard to do that if someone is a fan of the band. If you follow a band through its career, of course you're going to compare to see how they've grown and developed. I can look at the album as an individual part of a larger catalog and I can view the whole catalog with that album in it but, as a fan of all of KOL's albums, there's no way I can look at it as an individual piece of work, nor would I want to.

i dont know how i feel about this album. i keep listening and loving the tunes more i listen, but something about the lyrics seems odd. aha and yaym and even bott seemed to have this deepness to the lyrics "i loosen my tie i loosen my tie" just seems like a bit of a change, but closer and cold desert are lovely lyrically wise so i dunno, did anyone else notice how so many songs are about dancing whats the story there>
"i like to dance all night, some of today" "what a night for a dance you know im a dancin machine" "i shake it your way" caleb must like shakin his thang

I have to say the constant reference to dancing is the only thing i dislike about the album, 17 is clearly the weakest track ad one of their weakest to date...but then everything else is of a high quality and closer and cold desert are up there with trani and arizona as some of their best work IMO. Overall then i think this a bloody good album that doesnt quite match their first two but is as good as BOTT.
I'm pretty pleased

I have listened to the leak now, yes i have NO will power. And i think the albums great, some really good songs! So i think it's abit unfair to say it really shit! BUT do you no feel it's missing something? Some people on here have said it's boring, i wouldn't say it's boring at all i would probably say it just sounds too 'normal'? Since when have the Kings of Leon been normal? Never that's why we love them, there different from any other band there has ever been, and this album just doesn't do there uniqueness any justice! I mean they are really catchy good songs but there's nothing different about them. I know this may be annoying to compare this album with the others but you have to because you know from the others how good they and what they are cabale of ! Everyone of the other albums had this difference this rawness, abit of messyness, the variety of Calebs voice. Only by the night derrives none of this i mean look at because of the times, knocked up a song that give me shivers from the ohhing, the voice the guitarre.. then ASH Milk, day old blue who else could ever come out with a song like that, caleb's voice is just amazing the music is different.. then YAYMH an album i fell in love with every song makes me smile and energy and once gain their 'uniqueness'. Most of this is rambling and may only make sense to be but what i'm trying to say is Yes Great album good songs BUT if you asked me if i would of fallen in love with KOL like i did, if this was their first album? No probably not.

I think the band didn't make a very clever move by only releasing the best songs (or at least the most kol-sounding ones) off the album in advance (Crawl, Manhattan, Sex on Fire, Use Somebody). They then left the rest of the material open to being treated separately, which it is (I don't blame anyone for doing so, we all do!). What people have to remember is we all seem to be judging only the new songs that have been leaked, and it's pretty obvious that they're definately not the strongest part of the album. Although there are some good ones in there that are definately growers, thezoostation put it very well when they said that it's an album of Ragoos, Runners and True Love Ways. Not their strongest stuff and also not as unique as the rest of their material. Overall I think that there's only about half the album that a) will be as well recieved as their previous material and b) will be as good/atmospheric live. At kol gigs we want to be able to jump around and go mental with the odd slow one in there to let us catch our breath (see trani, knocked up etc), not a huge collection of 'anthemic' ballad-ish ones!
btw 17? christmas bells? what the fuck?

i think the album maybe have been i little bit rushed, but we know that the guys can't stand too long without recording the whole cd sound awesome at night(don't know why, maybe its just stupid) but yes its a more relaxed and layed-back cd. i can see why there are references to ASH mainly because of songs as sex on fire or i want you. I can only be sad by the fact that there are not so many hard-rocking strong fast songs in this album but this one its a different album and they did it in a good/quality way
