After even more listens i still stand by what i said lastnight. Its too clean, crisp and perfect for its own good. I think a compilation of All the lads B-sides and early singles is by far and away above this record. Head 2 Toe, My Third House, Whicker Chair, Woohooo Stand miles above most on this record. Its really bland I'm so dissapointed with it. Easily there poorest record by a long shot. I'd say a couple of Album into the future, not alot from this record will make the live playlist. Cold Desert is still my fav, but nothing blows you away at all. First Listen all the other 3 records where just amazing. You got past one great song and then another would smack you in the face. These album does't even slap you neve mind smack.
I hope this is a record company record and not the future of KOL. It feels as though my favourite band are dying and i dont want that too happen. I'm far from saying i want everything to sound like the old stuff. BBOT didnt and was still awsome, BlackThumbnail sent shivers down my spine when i first heard it and still does. This is just, As much i pains me to say it "Crap" I'm so sad right now, I cant believe the greatest band of morden times have released this.

ye what has happened to the old kings of leon??I remember back in uni hearing Youth and Young Manhood and it made me wanna dance rite away!!Happy Alone, Joes Head, Sprial Staircase, Molly Chambers!!!!and Trani will forever be my ultimate fave KOL song!!! it was fun and DIFFERENT to anything else i'd heard!!!!Then Aha Shake Heartbreak agen awsome album classic songs and a good atmosphere overall!!!
i've listened to the new album and all the songs jus sounds the same!!!ye the songs are ok and musically they sound good, but you need some depth and variety!!!if i wanted to listen to a deep and broody album i would listen to radiohead, rem or coldplay, cos in my humble opinion they do it better!!!!
I wanna see kings of leon with big hair, bigger beards and lookin like true hippies, NOT takin showers in their latest video, holding caleb down while writhes around on a table with fake sweat on him!!!
however i would settle for a good mix of the old and the new!!!i jus hope that when i see them agem in december they dont replace classics like joes head(which they havent played the last 2times i've seen them)with be somebody or i want you!!!
this is jus my opinion, feel free to do an over exaggerated reply. but just because it's their new album doesn't mean it has to be their best. peacexx

i think everyone who hates the new album is from the UK or elsewhere outside the united states. cmoe on people its time to get over this whole southern-rock, cowboy, country boy novelty that is so fascinating for anyone outside of america. they have there roots but they're growing into there own.
you all love YAYM and ASH so much, thats good, those albums will never go away. why do you want a fucking duplicate of those albums? wouldn't you want something new? embrace this slick new big sound. i still get shivers on this new stuff. its beautiful.

I just dislike one song and out of all four albums to not like one song is good going. KOL have made great music and i like change, I think the melodies are beautiful and i love the way Caleb sings I love the bass
And everyone can make mistakes with music its not the end of the world

Its nothing to do with that for me. Its plain and simple that the standard of work is nowhere near as good as the 3 previous. Most of the song sounds the same. Every backing is either "woooo ooooh hoooo or hoooo wooo hooo" Musically its just not great, its just an average album at best. I couldn't care about the southern ,cowboy tasche rubbish. I care only about the music and the music on this record is nothing startling. Me personally this its a continuation from Trunk and Camaro for me the two weakest songs on the last record. My no means am i saying the are rubbish i just thing they are ok. And thats what this is, just OK

My thoughts exactly although I do like Revelry alot and Manhattan is growing on me. But they are becoming more commercial and mainstream, which is a shame because I would love for them to make their own unique sounding music again, not like most of the stuff from this album which just sounds like many other bands

Who makes this commercial and mainstream music that Kings Of Leon now sound like? I certainly have never heard any commercial and mainstream bands make music that sounds like Cold Desert, Crawl, Revelry, I Want You, Seventeen, Manhattan, Be Somebody etc Use Somebody sounds a little bit like Journey and Sex On Fire reminds me of Ryan Adams - So Alive (Not a bad thing sounding like Ryan Adams!!!) Apart from that I really dunno what people are talking about. Two, familiar sounding songs out of about 50 odd and now they are becoming commercial or already are too commercial. I think I've wrote almost the same few paragraphs about 20 times now, defending this album, the band and the right to change.

And why is it bad if they are mainstream? They deserve to be successful, no? they do deserve success it's jus a shame they changed their style of music and image to get there!!!

I'm not thinking it sounds mainstream. I just think its very dissapointing. They've set themselves such high standards and this is the poorest record to day. Song for Song nothing on the new album stands up to any previous work. I'm all for moving forward and trying new things musically. But this record is just boring. Cold Desert is simply stunning but everything else is just alrite

haha you're welcome homegrown I posted this in another thread but I think it fits here too... I'd like to think at the end of the day, they don't care what the people, who downloaded their album before the release date and now have no intention of buying a physical copy, think. I could be wrong but I've just got this sneaky feeling folks

^^ I'm sorry to hear it's making you sad. I just look at it this way. To me music is art. I LOVE KoL as artists, and have to respect that they are looking to expand their horizons. Like i said in my earlier post about the new album.. There are quite a few tracks that I am not in love with, and others that i think are definitely keepers. I look at this album as something different they are trying as they grow as musicians and human beings, and just know that I don't expect this to be their last album, and maybe you will love every single thing about the next one !! And good for you that it's not changing your mind about going to see them. They are at their best when they are doing a live show!! Hope that made you feel a little better .
