^^*snigger*
I definately agree with the above appreciation for Wicker chair, Red morning light & Spiral staircase. I guess my list could go on.
I'm sure the others do appreciate him, I always come back to that jambase interview with Caleb and Nathan:
Jambase: Caleb, tell me about Matthew as a guitarist.
Caleb: Well, as a person he's pretty shy. He's not as confident as he should be. He's one of the better musicians in the band. He can fucking rip on the guitar. The thing is, he'll play something really cool but think it's stupid. So, he'll come up with something else and something else again. He just doesn't have the confidence. But man, when he gets onstage, wow. Have you ever seen his legs? When both his knees bend, he's fixin' to wail, man. He's fixin’ to get into it.
He's the outsider - we're three brothers, he's the cousin. He's quiet and stays in the background but when he goes up there and plays he takes it to another level. Matthew has always had great opinions. We'll end up leaving a song off the record that later on we looked back and regretted and Matthew was the one pulling for it. He's got a great sense of style as far as music goes.
Jambase: I had the sense his addition to the band upped the ante as far as the music you guys were going to be playing. Is that a pretty fair assessment?
Caleb: Absolutely, absolutely. Matthew and Jared don't have great timing. Me and Nathan do. Of course, Nathan's a drummer and when my dad was a preacher, I was the backup drummer, so I'm a drummer too. Nathan and me keep the beats and the rhythms. Jared solos on the bass and Matthew, he solos and makes sounds. Because of that Nathan and me get to have a ball with them. We get to play around. They'll start playing something and me and Nathan will flip the beat. Jared and Matthew will get confused and we're just like, "Trust us." That's how a lot of the songs come together. We're playing beats against them.
Hopefully his confidence is growing as time goes on, it seems to be from outside!!

Reverb is basically an echo. It echos the guitars sounds/notes/chords, gives the feeling of space!
Thats how i would explain it!

Caleb Plays simple barre chords and matt plays minor and or major phrases over the top, this is twin guitar fusion at it's simple and honest form.... much like the stones with keith and brian.

His playing of King of the Rodeo at glasto08 is soo amazing!! how he makes something so beautiful come out of the dirty sounding guitar is awesome!! I really like the way he changes the effects on the guitar throughout the song! It's a little strange matt is such an integral part to the band, like he sort of pioneers their sound with his guitars like everyone always talks about the guitar on kings tracks but you never notice he's there. ouch sorry i didnt mean to say that i meant like it's similiar to something i was gonna say they're so in synch with what they play that it's kinda like him right, like he's all there but not hahahaa lost the plot. i have no idea what i was sayinhg. Asking myself why i havn't noticed the damn HOTTNESS of wasted time!

I think I understand what you are saying. Did you mean that he has the ability to play in a way sometimes that so enhances the song that you can be swept away by the song without really noticing his individual part in it. You have to go back and listen to what he actually did there. If you did, I agree! I think Nathan does that too. It's not always about playing anything sophisticated or technically difficult either, just good instinct for what best serves the song.

Thank you Laura! And I also think Whiskers has some good opinions, what she just said is exactly one of my favourite things about the Kings generally. 'Its not just what you've got, its what you do with what you've got!' Think I'm gonna spread some karma love to you both when I can
