In Ireland they are already properly 'big time'. The album went to No. 1, they're headlining Oxegen this week, their two shows back in December sold out in 15 mins etc etc. I rarely listen to the radio by choice, but I can honestly say that almost every time I hear the radio in a shop, bar, taxi etc, I hear Kings Of Leon. No exaggeration! Mostly 'Fans' or 'On Call'.

I knoww you're talking about America, but they are definatley getting bigger over here, Because Of The Times is number 37 in the album charts and I've heard Fans played on the radio twice in the last two days. x Ok, so I live in London, and I really don't get how they are supposed to be so big over here! I never hear them on the radio, have never come across another hard core KOL fan other than people I've met off HA. Lordy, guess it must be bad timing  Really? Hmm maybe its just the radio station you listen to? lol. And I've only met one other person who's favourite band is KOL, most people I talk to haven't heard of them though but hey they mostly listen to their crappy r'n'b hip hop.  x |

i dont think that a lot of people know them here in holland ive seen on call on tv twice last year ..but i dont want them to get to big i like them being a secret they have a huge fan base but i think they are the best bands of today along side some others and they could be making good music for a long time and thats all that matters to me

I agree that in Ireland, the band are quite big but not too big and im glad of that. Theyre not on the radio so much that people get really sick of them (not that thats really possible!!) Britney Spears is "big", gets loads of air play and is always on the cover of some magazine or other but that means diddley squat...just listen to her music! I like how the kings are not media hores, but it is so frustrating when someone who hasnt heard of them because they dont necessarily sell themselves immediately doesnt give them a chance!
I think the kings are huuuge among the people who matter most in the public...their fans and they know that as well!

have you listened to american pop radio recently? it sucks cock. if your songs sound somewhat unique and actually take some attention it wont get on the radio. american radio is for 16 year old sluts that like shitty black people that have no musical talent whatsoever. watch me oooo crank dat soulja boi trust me. you dont want kol on american radio fair enough, but in philly they have a station 93.3 WMMR and they play a pretty good brand of rock and roll. I'm not saying that i wanna here them on a pop station, but give the band their due... they are awesome. I still would probably not know who they were other then seeing them open up for U2 3 years ago... ALSO, i fully agree that people would like songs like KU and arizona if they heard the whole album... to me knocked up opens this album perfect and is a great set up for the hardcore rockers that follow. and after camero, arizona ends it just perfect. Although I like heartbreak better, BOTT is peiced together much better IMO, each song just jives into one another. |

Im always in 2 minds about this, sometimes I get annoyed when they are kind if pushed aside for other artists, the most recent time being Glastonbury honestly I dont think i heard anyone mention their headline performance it was all Jay Z and Amy Shitehouse! then other times im like I dont want them to get too big (like Coldplay size) because I sometimes think this is when bands lose a bit of their soul and tend to market their music for the masses as opposed to staying true to what they believe in....hmmm its a toughie   |

i want them to be big for them, cause they are awesome and deserve to be big and famous...
i want them to not be big for me, so i can see them in more intament settings, like huge arenas and be closer...

LOL at mike. its half true. although i dont really think people who listen to mainstream radio are "sluts".. or necessarily "black people".. but just goes to show, even when kjam is making a valid point, he has to go throw something offensive/generalised into the mix. lets face it people - mainstream radio is (mostly) listened to by people who dont listen to different music. they listen to the same artists (Who i enjoy listening to ocassionally,,,, like when im dancing at a party): timbaland, mariah carey..and and farking Rihanna!!  the thing i notice about these people who only listen to mainstream stuff is that they dont buy actual albums.. they just download individual songs. im not saying they dont love the music they listen to, but they dont understand how an album is a body of work.. a story kind of. hence the reason they could never listen to a KOL album - only songs which are radio friendly. if i was one of these people, i reckon i wouldnt be able to listen to arizona on the radio.. it wouldnt make sense without the 10 or so songs before it.,, im not saying this is applicable to ALL people who only listen to mainstream shite, just most of em.. they dont buy albums! well said |

bott went to number 1 and the kings get played on the raddio all the time, the rock plays yaym and the more poppy stations play bott
i also heard camaro in a store in spain the other day dunno if theyr big here tho i havent actually met any kol fans in spain

Wow...I just checked the World Famous KROQ's website, a station here in Los Angeles, and was surprised to see that they listed Kings of Leon on their list of requests. Molly's Chambers and The Bucket are the only choices. They've never played anything from BOTT that I know of. KOL deserves all the success they can get, but I still like to keep them to myself and love that they play in smaller venues when in my neck of the woods!

yerr triple j is the only station which plays "alternative" music.. it also airs good rap music, good house music etc. just awesome stuff basically
its a shame - the whole of AU, and theres one station dedicated to non-mainstream music
