.. I think that's what it is with him, whether he sings it a la YAYM or a la OBTN, you believe every word and he takes you with him. It's an incredibly rare quality these days, and as a result the man gives me shivers without even looking at him  I agree so much with that Also I have wondered that a bit too - he was a regular smoker during that period apparently, which affected his voice, but also, the timbre of his speaking voice has changed since then. |

I think it's a thing of whether people can become accustomed to his voice or not. It's just so different that I think it can either help or hurt him, especially on their earlier albums. I will never forget the first time I heard Kings. I liked them but I just kept thinking Caleb's voice was so crazy that I wasn't sure if it was for me or not. Thankfully my idiot sensors fell and I realized he had a fantastic voice! lol lol This is how i feel,i just couldn't believe how his voice sounded,i wondered why everyone liked this band so much. But now that i joined the ranks ...i do realize he can sing,its just that he's so hoarse sometimes and on the earlier cd's he sang in a eclectic style,which i wasnt used to. I know,right? It's so funny how that voice comes out of that gorgeous babyfaced hottiepattootie! |

i heart the bit towards the end of my party, when he does the ooooooo's and how it is so perfectly, exactly matched, to the last note bit of the riff that matt does. i just loveeeee how that picks up from where the riff finished, i love that bit and then matt comes back in with the riff again. it's like a little bridge where it carries you and the momentum of the song. it's a bit like flying that bit damn i love that bit SO much i just had to say it again  i heart heart heart caleb's riff in king of the rodeo. it's so fcking sweet!! (and i can't find the proper thread to put that in, it got burried under an avalanche but the looks of it  ) i heart (also) his vocals in this esp' when he says 'rodeo' like it's rolling over his tongue oh and goddamn hearting his singing in fans! wow. loving that hoarse, smoothness. and the way he can perfectly pitch his voice to smack the note out. it's like so so so cool!! ANd Arizona! love it when he sings, it's so much fun singing along to it love the lyrics to that song too. i can't think of the word to describe the story. once i found out what the lyrics were to that song it just opened up to me and it was beauitful. falling into that song. |

I know,right? It's so funny how that voice comes out of that gorgeous babyfaced hottiepattootie! LOL agreed and I love the way you put it! ^ And I love his voice on fans!! It's so sincere. But his voice on Trani just pricks my heart... I've probably posted this before in this thread lol but I just love how it cracks when he starts screaming and then it just gets to the point where there's no intelligible words just emotion! |

oooohhhh Trani....but even better in the Bonnaroo (is it 2004?) vid where he draws out "tied to a chaiiiiiirrrrrrr". Goosebumps. And in Revelry, if you turn it WAY up, he goes all high pitched at the end of "kerosene.."
Ack... just makes me want to cry.

Just recently got Beneath The Surface (which is AWESOME,by the way!)...and there is one part where i just love Caleb's voice,it's the line "sweaty ballroom dancing fever"...especially the "fever" part,cuz all the music kinda pauses and all you hear is his voice there! LOVE it!!  |

I also love during that part you were talking about how Nathan's drums kick in differently,to kinda step up the pace a bit...that whole last part of the song is just insane,it's hard to actually hear everything thats going on cuz it's just mayhem! Good mayhem,of course! |

I love how at the end of alot of lines when he's really going for it his voice squeaks at the end, like on the chorus of Mcfearless and alot of other stuff, I love it!

One of the deffinate plus sides to KOL is how edgy Caleb's voice is.
You can be pretty sure that you will recognise them immediately on the radio or whatever just from the vocals.
I was standing a shop just yesterday when they started playing, I was listening to my iPod so could only hears bits of the song, although it didn't exactly take me long before I screamed "IT'S KINGS OF LEON! I CAN HEAR IT! CAN YOU? SEAN??" Yeah I got a few looks to say the least. x]
But yeah, his voice is actually amazing (:
