I wonder why it would be that song? In my opinion, there's 5 or 6 songs on that cd bettter than McFearless. Doesn't matter to me anyway, as BOTT plays 24/7 in my stereo at the moment.

I don't really figure how they pick the singles either - On Call has to be one of the weaker songs on the album right (don't shout at me, i still really like it!!)

I recall an interview where Caleb said something about On Call being repetitive and so fans should be able to get it, or summit like that! (It came across slightly more derogatory than that)

I voted for McFearless or Black Thumb when this subject came up, but thinking more My Party or Charmer now (come on Charmer would be a great single!!)

Arizona would not be a bad single but american radio would make them change the word Whorehouse. Ruining the song. Like so many others.

I suppose the theory behind singles is picking the songs which kind of level out lyrically and vocally and musically..
On Call might not have the best lyrcs but the atmosphere created with this track is outstanding and it's shit catchy for a opening single.

The second single from a band's album needs to live up to the last, equally if not more so amazing.. but also needs to go in a different direction of the first so you don't get 'too much of the same'
McFearless is a masterpiece lyrically, rhythmically.. I mean, every instrument in that song is outstanding in it's own way yet it all works together in perfect harmony.

My predictions for the next (3rd?) single will be a slow one, possibly True Love Way, Arizona? It depends which direction they want to go, because they might go down the road of Fans and Ragoo.. depends how the second single sells and where it gets toin the chart as to whether the audience are ready for a really true and deep song like Arizona or if they have barely scratched the surface they might choose to just go with something lighter like Ragoo.

I think True Love Way is a perfect 3rd single, b/c I think its the best vocal on the album...maybe of any song (plus they are starting to play it in concert) Charmer might be a crazy single though!!!

I read that too. It was in our (New Zealand's, I doubt it's published elsehwere) Real Groove magazine.

He said something along the lines of "We chose a song with a repetitive lyric so than anybody, even a 5 year old could get it stuck in their head."

He was referring, I think, to their desaire to get catch a break in the US.

As for choice of single. I'm suprised, but not shocked, it's one of the strongest songs on the album, one of my favourites (along with Arizona and Black Thumbnail), but I don't think it's single material. But I hope it's a success. Fingers crossed!

I think McFearless deserves a live video .. the only way to express the genius of it without distractions..

i think i agree! it's an awesome live track!

i like the idea of True Love Way as a single - i thinkit would bring in some new fans maybes?
