I've been listening to bands/going to gigs for over 30 years and I feel qualified to pass a comment here. Jared may not technically be the best bass player in the world but he's learning and learning and getting better all the time. He can hold his own with a lot of more experienced musicians and his playing is just right for KOL. In fact, they're all getting better!

i think the good thing about KOL though is that you can actually hear the bass, so many bands have decent bass players but you just cant hear it! a very underrated instrument in my books along with the cello

Oh Hoppy, youre learning to play bass? How is it working out so far? Im pretty lame, I've been wanting to play an instrument for years now. But lately I've just accepted that I was too old and there was no way in hell my fingers were ever gonna coƶporate with me at my age.

Youre inspiring me! I think I might actually know where I can start, there is a teacher exactly beneath me in my flat! I know because everyday from 3 till 7 I hear Do Re Mi Fa etc. being played repeatedly! And yeah age is just a number..my mind may not not notice..but my body does..its like the damn muscles are all rusty and wont move in the directions I want them to move in anymore! I cant do a handstand anymore either.

HAHAHA I can still do cartwheels and i'm 28 so you should be able to do way more than me!! seriously you should go for it! life is way too short and I don't want to look back and say 'why didn't I learn how to play something?' I mean im 28 and I'm already saying that... the time is now!!

Alright..yeah! I'm gonna do it. Well atleast I'm gonna try and start this year..argh it's just so busy with school and work and attempting to maintain a social life! But hey it beats going to the gym..that seems to be what everyone around me is doing. Yeah the bass is gonna be my anti-gym activity! You gotta go for it too..although if you can still cartwheel around at 28 I think you dont have to have any other skill in life!

Hey hop i thought i was too old to start too, but obviously not! Jareds current bass costs about 2 grand, but i've been looking into picking a nice one up for about 400 quid, the best i've come up with so far is the Yamaha RBX374, you can get it in red, silver or black, i just thinks it's a real elegant model and the reviews on the net suggest its great value for money... You can have a look at... www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/flypage/product_id/10204Anyway it may or may not be to your taste but hope this helps in some way
