(who did i get that from? hmmm) and yeah so i like them a lot to, and theyre British, but im going to see The Bravery and they are American, and im starting to like them quite a bit, but im also into Kasabian and Interpol and theyre British, oh and of course Franz Ferdinand, but theyre not British right? well yeah so i like music, doesnt really matter where theyre coming from but i just happent to think that the UK music scene is much more better that the US one, but of course KOL, Strokes and White Stripes, and Modest Mouse make it better! interpol are american lol. and franz ferdinand are from scotland.

yes well that is true, AMerica might have "invented" rock but the british perfected it Depends on what rock your talking about. If its the more "out there" type of rock then i can see validity in that arguement. If its the straight hard hitting rock and roll then no, the Americans have it down. Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Velvet Underground, CCR, Allman Brothers, AC DC, . Of course theres always cross overs, for instant the rolling stones, i always thought they were american, until a year ago. They just have that straight forward rock sound. And jimi is one of the most abstract artists of all time along with the talking heads, but both are american made. Of course i give huge credit to british rock, you guys helped define an era, but we started it and that was 60's and 70's. So whose more original? Might i add we also have some of the best new rock bands around. From the ones im aware of: White Stripes, The killers, The Shins, The Strokes, Interpol, Mars Volta and of course the Kings of Leon. Probably a small list though, lol. So i'd put your egos in check , Rock is nothing with out America.

The evolution of music is a very complex matter, not a clear cut Amercia vs. Britain thing, it is ridiculous to say that one country "invented" it. Bands like KoL haven't made it yet in America, although this is slowly changing, due to just lack of exposure, the Kings just didn't really play much over there before they came over to the UK to play on the fact that the British would lap up their Southern roots etc. The fact that they didn't play over there pissed off quite a lot of the Nashville scene so i've heard, a general "didn't do their time" thing (i'm repeating myself here sorry). Also i'd like to point out that good music doesn't equal indie/rock be it british or american or egyptian.

Yeah its a definite failure on the Kings part to not publize them selves earlier on here in america, seems like its partially their falt that they missed the boat earlier on. But the fact that america now is still sluggish to the kings, is probably because theyre not played on mtv so suppesedly they arnt good enough to listen to. Its horrible.

Well what was there to perfect? The rock we had was awsome. Sure the british had huge rock bands like led zeppelin and pinkfloyd. But So did america. I think the it was the colaboration between americas sound and with the balance of the british sound that made the 60's and 70's so great. There we'll leave it at that?

I see what your saying, but do you really think Zepp. is metal?? Besides the fact that page shreds i dont see how they are metal, theyve made some of the most beautiful and peaceful songs, and some of the greatest rock and roll riffs. Sure there more aggressive at times but thats partially what rock is about. I still think that we have jimi hendrix we got the trump but thats just me. But really i think american and british rock are about eye to eye.

so do u agree w/ me then? cause thats why i think that, cause of the Beatles, everytime i wrote a response thats all i was thinking about.
well yeah i think zepplin is metal, i mean more of a soft, calmer metal but i think they are, maybe im wornt though, but i think they are, and i see what ure saying about Jimi Hendrix but he was just a guitaris, u know, i mean the best damn guitarist ever but that was it, i mean Sabbath, they had everything and zepplin (if u consider them metal) but i also think that Metalica is great to, so for metal i think the brits win just by a bit, sorry but i mean the british they might not have that many times when they break out here in america but when they do its cause of some damn great music! did i just make since there?

If zeppelin is metal then they were way ahead of their time, becaue they were late 60's right? I dont think theyre metal, just hard rock. But i know that metallica is american and theyre one of the best metal bands around. For some reason i just think that american rock has more culture in its songs how ever ironic that may sound. The british stuff was more universal i think. Though there was donovan the coolest scottish rocker/hippie.
