In America, we don't have the NME throwing bands down our throats. Don't get me wrong, I buy NME, but they go overboard on bands. There are just a lot of different scenes here in the states of people that just go to shows, and listen to the music. I don't think it's a bad thing, the kings will catch on in time. They have already gotten a lot of airplay were I live, much to my disgust having the Kings being played with Linkin Park and Simple Plan. I've recently introduced some firends to KOL, and they loved it, so I do think that if they continue to tour here more, they'll get the success they want and deserve.

It's true though....everything that you guys are saying is correct. I am and, have been, a huge Pearl Jam fan too. They were the biggest band in America at one point and then they just stopped making videos and doing press and everyone just forgot about them. There's something weird about the States and music and things have to be all around before people will take notice. I don't know why that is.

i think perhaps it's because alot of Americans need to be told what's ok to like and what's not ok to like.

well im happy that so far theyre not big here, gives me hope that when they do another tour here, it wont be filled with people and the intimate setting will stay alive!!! i know it seems selfish but i at least want to meet them and if they start getting big i can say bye to that dream.

i agree with csolis, i've been lucky enough to see them three times here is the states (cali). the first time at the lolapalooza side stage where i dragged my boyfriend away from the main stage to check out this band that was causing a buzz on nme. and they blew me away. there was maybe 50 people watching them, oh but the presence! i knew they would be back in a few weeks with the 22-20's and jet so that night i bought three tickets, took my boyfriend and my best friend and they were sold. it was by far the best show I'd ever been to. we went again this year and i was still able to get a front stage spot. i'm glad they're touring with U2, just proves U2 has good taste in music =) and I am bummed they didn't sell more records here but I'll also admit to being just a bit selfish and wanting to keep them to myself. intimate venues make the shows.
In regards to American tastes in music, well, like Jared said, "We can't compete with your f*ucking Britney Spears." Its sad but true. America is entranced by the J.Lo's and Britney's that can't sing a lick, not to mention wouldn't be able to write a song if their lives depended on it. O.K. I refuse to waste more time on them...
(hey csolis, did you say Juanes? now there's some good music!)
on a brighter note, i was at target the other day and i convinced this guy to buy the new KOL cd. haha! it was great. i told him it was my favorite cd and that he'd love it. so he bought it!

Hi, i'm a noob, but a huge KOL fan since they came out, just saw them for the 3rd time in Philly a couple of weeks ago, I think the earlier UK release had alot to do with it, the local record store sold atleast 10 import versions of it and it is only a small college town, but KOL were still in the top 10 in local record sales the the first two weeks the record was out in the US, the show in Philly was packed to the doors also. It's just that KOL appeal to a certain demographic, unfortunately the large portion of record buying public in america tend to be pop fans

hadmaq, I agree. I know I bought it in November and refused to burn it for anyone and made them go to Amoeba to buy it themselves. Normally, during the first week you have the big fans go out and pick up the album. Well, if they were big enough fans, they most likely bought the import at a good record store or on Amazon or wherever they could get it. I think it hurt them as far as sales go.
