I'm assuming we'll pretty much have to wait until their shows later in the year, which gets a big BOO HISS from me!
Eesh, it was 17 with cow bells wasn't it? While I don't hate 17, I don't love it either. For a start I think cow bells sound tacky and Christmassy.

They were tubular bells, cowbell sounds a lot better.

hahahah good one ,Erin Im excited about #6 but Id love as Erin says they dont forget they are rock band, Id love more similar, 3 firsts albums than OBTN or CAS but I love CAS, and a lot of songs OBTN too,

It's weird in a way, cos I think there are really good songs on OBTN & CAS, but as a whole I just like them less than the earlier albums. Having said that, I play CAS a lot; I find it a cosy, homey album. BOTT is my car album.
I'm very excited for #6, but I'm afraid the anticipation will be so big that, no matter how good #6 will be, I'll be disappointed to a certain extent. And I hate that, cos it's not fair towards the guys.

I'm the same, Erin. I like all five albums and play them all quite a bit, though overall I like the earlier albums more despite most of my favourite songs being more recent ones.
Luckily I tend to go the other way when it comes to anticipation; unless it's really bad (I'm looking at you, A Thousand Suns) I tend to think the sun shines out of its album-shaped arse because I love the band so much and I look forward to it so much.

Nate's teasing again via Twitter.
"I'm mentally preparing myself for drummer suicide. 161 beats per minute, 4 1/2 minutes with no helmet or pads. I am wearing a jock strap."
followed by
"Velvet Snow and Crawl's love child is about to be born. Beer me."
Sounds like something I wanna hear and will love.

Me too!! And then the young 'un joins in with the teasing as well... "I only need 1 string, tuned to F# for this one. My wrist is bleeding from playing so hard."

I still don't like the colour of that bass but the carving is just gorgeous.

Do we know who is producing this record? Hopefully not Angelo, time for someone else.

Angelo's involved. Nate just posted another pic on Instagram and as you can see, Angelo is in it too. Why do you want to see him replaced? And by who? A while ago they mentioned they were in LA, to 'shop' for producers but as far as I know, no name was announced after that. I guess it does mean it'll be someone else than Ethan or Jacquire though.

I just wanted them to get someone new in there. A new set of ears. A producer that would say "leave the Sex on Fire Use Somebody at the door, we are blowing people away with this record."

At first when I heard they were back in the studio I thought 'great', but I wasn't that much fussed, I thought to myself I'll listen to it when it's ready. But now I read Nates tweets and I am getting really impatient about it. "Velvet snow and Crawl's love child", now that's intriguing, I love Crawl, it's a great song. I am really curious about what direction they will take, I know Caleb loves country but I hope there won't be TOO much of it. I like that they are leaving SOF and Use Somebody behind.

I think Rex up there just wishes for KOL to leave SOF/US behind, it's not said they will actually do so. Despite those songs being over-played, they are good pop-rock songs, but that's also exactly the problem that a lot of people have with it: they're pop-rock. Nate's Velvet Snow & Crawl's love child tweet is a great tease, but we might not quite agree with his description when we get to hear it. I guess I don't mind a bit of country influences, but like you say Helene, not too much please! I hope there'll be more up tempo songs (161bpm sounds promising!) and not too many mid-tempo songs. Oh and Ali, I agree about the colour & the carving of that bass.

The more i have to wait for the new album, the more i'm getting out of patience. Hopefully the boys bethink of their roots more than they did for the last album. "Velvet Snow and Crawls love child" as Nathan tweeted, definitely sounds exciting and makes me very curious about the new stuff.
But after all i love this band so much, so that i know, i will love the 6th album just as i love every KOL-album.

Cute little vid Jared just posted of Matt: twitter.yfrog.com/06uhadgqfczdhajoivdplecgzMaybe not as exciting as Jared playing with his pants on his ankles while recording CAS, but then again, we're not seeing the bottom half, are we? And what's up with it being a Christmas tune in February? Have they been reading this thread? Matt looks so incredibly cute in it though. Hair looks good too; I'm starting to like the length of it again.

The more Nathan tweets studio updates, the better things sound to me. From earlier this week: "Super excited 2 get in the studio 2day. Had an amazing musical happy accident last night & I can't wait 2 record it. #flute #sax #deathmetal" "I heart tracking live. It's that anxious feeling u get on the last chorus, knowing that you've almost nailed it. Ice cold beer is my reward." I can't say I can take the hashtags seriously, but the rest sounds very promising. I hope that live tracking also means that there won't be over-producing. Plus, previously mentioned hand claps and cow bell... Bring it!

To Erin, SOF & US are down right solid pop-rock songs. They are cool songs but when I think of KoL I dont think "pop-rock." When I read Nate's tweet about tracking live I immediately thought back to ASH. I think someone they said that ASH was all tracked live. The last album had its fair share of good tracks (No Money is such a throw back to ASH/BOTT). I cannot wait.
