Shit, that's scary. Don't get me wrong, I'd suffer bottle wounds and piss-soaking to see the guys, but in an ideal world that wouldn't be the case, haha! But seriously, a BOX?! Wtf?? I now see what the Americans among us mean when they say we have much crazier crowds.
I must admit, I'd hate that, the people on shoulders. I'm short enough as it is, I can do without the extra view-blockage. Which is why, as a total saddo, I won't be going for pit tickets when they tour the Uk, even though I'd love to.
I hope they may release Where is My Mind as a B-side too, absolutely love it! Can't believe Nashville Scene slated it so much and accused them of having a backing tape instead of Jared doing the 'ooh's. Sad bastards.

Yeah, they dont allow anyone to sit on anybody's shoulders in the US and you are only allowed plastic cups, without lids. So they cannot do much damage. It's funny, cuz if you watch either HP vids or Roo vids, you can totally see Jared singing the background vocals for Where is My Mind. Nash Scene really needs to pull its head out of its ass. Despite beer and bottles, sounds like a great time. Good for you all!

we went to see R.E.M at HP a few years ago,it was the same then .with bottles being thrown, and the same with Oasis, but you were lucky if it was beer.and not wee, being thrown over you,By the way, amazing show, though we only saw The black keys ,due to our train being on the track for 2 hours ,due to a incident on the track,

*SIGH* That was A-mazing!!! Had a long day starting with catching the bus to London at four in the morning then just sitting at the gates until they opened. Well worth it though. Loved all the support acts, was really looking forward to seeing The Whigs and The Features especially and they lived up to all my expectations. Think I might just have a little crush on Parker now (don't tell Lebby ) Any man that can play guitar and sing whilst hopping on one leg for the whole set is all good in my books. The crowd did suck just a bit. Plenty of people there that wanted to talk/fight/chuck bottles rather than listen to music. My friend actually told a few people off, hehe. Got hit by a few bottles, one full of nasty boy wee right as Kings came on Was a great set though and my friend and I had a blast especially singing along to Southbound Setlist was exactly the same as Roo so knew just what we had to look forward to. Trani wasn't quite as screamy and intense as Roo which was a bummer but Fans obviously went off along with the usual SOF etc. Was so stoked that they added Black Thumbnail to the end. So surprised to see Jared smoking on stage (?) Also thought they all scrubbed up very nicely! Lebbys denim jacket was particularly purdy. My friend and I got very drunk and silly and I have to confess we may just have yelled a couple of things at them this time So didnt want it to end. Staggered back to hotel stupidly drunk and trying to bum a cigarette off someone. Asked a couple of guys on the street and one of them turned out to be from the Drums! Think we probably embarrassed ourselves but he was very polite anyways. Only just got over my hangover now, deffo got the post Kings blues and need another fix... Glad you guys all enjoyed it too, sorry to bore you with my ramblings, just wanna relive it all again! x

I dont know if anyone else saw, but a couple of songs in, something kicked off about 3 rows to my right (I was just left of centre, about 10 rows back). I dont know whether they were security, but they started talking to some lads, and then everybody started cheering?! I saw Caleb look over and he shook his head, so i dont know if there was a banner or something?! Just wondered if anyone else knew what happened. I actually feared for my life at some points when it came to the bottles flying. I did find it kind of amusing, even though i stunk of beer and possibily pee afterwards. I was secretly pleased when this girl in front of me got one chock in the face though, 'cos all she did was chat crap and make out with her boyfriend. Got into the park just as The Features came on, and they were awesome. Really like The Whigs too. I didnt see much of The Black Keys, cos we went to get water and nip to the loo when they came on to beat the rush for Kings, but they sounded good, the bits that i heard. NOBODY AROUND ME SANG TO TRANI. I dont think half of them knew what it was, because they took it as a chance to start talking and taking photos of each other, which pissed me off. Funny how they all knew the words to SoF and Use Somebody... Southbound gave me chillbumps, and i felt pretty smug singing along to it and no-one else knowing the words I loved the other new ones, seeing as it was the first time i heard them. The gig was AMAZING though. Ive got serious post gig blues though, aha.

^Saw security talking to quite a few people and threatening to chuck them out but really they didnt do anything to stop those idiots. Guess it could've really kicked off if they jumped in though? Wish id seen Lebby shaking his head at them, hehe Am totally with you about singing Southbound and feeling a bit smug. Some guy had just let us go in front of him and he was looking at us like 'hey, how do you know that?!' Cant wait for the new album now...

Ok, I’m not that great at writing reviews because they’re always really boring (and its a few days late), but to sum it up; the boys were INCREDIBLE! We got there just before 11 because I’m a dimwit and thought that the gates opened at 12, though it’s a good job we did get there at that time because there was already quite a few people there, and when they actually opened the gates we ended up in about 5th row, just to the side of Jared. I’d only heard The Drums and The Features before but I thought all the support acts were really good, and I’m definitely a Black Keys convert. Only annoying thing was that I managed to get pretty good shots of all of these, but my photos of the Kings are awful. We did manage to spot Caleb, Nathan and Jessie side stage for The Features and The Black Keys, and Jared dancing to The Whigs. Also saw Joe Jonas side stage when the Kings were on haha. Anyway, aside from a load of bottles being thrown, like most people have mentioned, the crowd where I was standing were genuinely pretty good at singing along but didn’t really seem to dance a lot. But Caleb was obviously happy with the crowd because he was so smiley and chatty the whole night, he got quite emotional towards the end which was really cute. I thought the set list was really good, would have liked to maybe see Arizona or Wicker Chair in there, but can’t complain because we got Trani! though it seemed as if only my friend and I were singing along where we were standing. For those who haven’t heard them yet, all of the new songs sound amazing live, admittedly I wasn’t too sure on Southbound when I first heard it on youtube but hearing it live just blew me away (I haven’t been able to get it out my head since), and they clearly enjoyed playing it. I think that and Mary may be my favourite so far and The Pixies cover was spot on. I’m really overly excited for the next album now I think my personal highlight though was when, surprisingly, half the crowd got Sex on Fire wrong, and Caleb and Jared both laughed at us which was quite amusing. But yeah, to sum it up it really was an amazing day, made even better by the lovely weather, and I’m already anticipating the next time I see them. I’ll stop boring everyone now and post a few photos. Sorry that they’re not very clear. (Click on the photo to see them)

^Oooh, I like your Nacho pics My Kings pics are the worst too, so bummed. Think it might have something to do with being a bit drunk and over excited by that point. Have got a pic that shows Jared watching from side stage, he's pretty small but just for kicks... Haha, that is seriously Wheres Wally material, he is in there somewhere I promise

That made me laugh Lucy - it was like Where's Wally I wish I could've seen the faces of the people around you when you all started singing Southbound!! The elite group of KoL fans strikes again, hahaha!

I so love reading all your reviews, to think I may never have the chance of seeing them..., viewers review are so much better than journalist's, because they are written by people who care and I always find myself imagining that I was there, as opposed to, say, a guardian reviewer who give a shit review because she totally 'missed' it. Keep it up, I want to read more.

Hahaha the "where's Wally" bit made me roar!! Is that the same Guardian reviewer who said that on stage they are "essentially a bar band"......Hmmm, not sure what she meant by that to be honest but is it wrong of me to hope she got covered in "beer" too??

^^^yeah, same reviewer, I didnt imagine she would be so 'well known' lol
You'd have daily mail reviewers slating them for being too rock and roll, and being music for the 'common' people(with everything those words implies) and then you have poncy left wing journalists who think KOL are too rock and roll but on the 'not deep enough' side of things, if that makes sense, in other words, damed if they do, damned if they dont. And rememeber, Guardian reviewers, Caleb is going to be sad if he reads your harsh, shit reviews..... Dont make him sad.

the real reviewers are the fans.I dont take any notice of papers. If a show is good, the fans will tell us,if its not so good.( like sound.or the band is in a pissy mood).they will tell us,The fans reviews are more important then some journalists ( who are proberly more into JLS or something like that )

Totally agreed. As long as the fans are telling me it was an amazing experience, I know it was.

going back to work today was tragic, just wanted to be back on train down to london.
one thing i will say is that the crowd near me was pretty decent, and seemed to know the lesser know ones, my party, trani etc.
I'll always remember 30th June 2010, as potentially one of the best days of my life, lots of special things happened that day, and it all came together during kol on stage and i'll remember it forever.

Ah, Steveyboy you're singing my song! Through all the shittiness of late my memories of every Kings gig keep me smiling. I now have yet another amazing experience to add to the collection and remind me what life is really about "Holding tight to that night we had a ball" indeed Thanks Kings!!!
