Hey everyone! I've been a member at HA for about a year but never posted before. But I'm still so psyched about the Hyde Park experienece that I felt like writing a little review, too.
I went to London from Switzerland for the Hyde Park concert, so my friend and I got to the venue at 10am to pick up our tickets. Surprisingly there weren't that many people there yet, so we went to grab some food at KFC and just enjoyed the lovely weather in the park (Still DEAD at having to pay to use the chairs in HP!).
My friend made it clear beforehand he wouldn't come front row with me, so we went to the front and he'd leave as soon as The Features started playing. That was cool with me, though I was so bored between sets. Luckily all the people around me were pretty nice and cool. Anyway, once the Kings started that freaking bottle throwing started and you wouldn't believe it I was hit on my head 4 times (yes, four fucking times!). I'm no pussy, but that hurt a lot and got me all dizzy! Thank god I had ibuprofene with me
Other than that I can't complain about anything. We always had enough water given to us and I was lucky that the one time I went to the toilet I didn't have to queue at all.
I loved the supporting acts, especially The Features and The Black Keys. But the Kings just killed it that night. It was by far the best live concert I've ever seen. I guess the crowd being so awesome had a lot to do with that, but the set itself was brilliant too
As for the SOF and US issue. I did have some people around me that didn't seem all that into KOL, but those people I noticed weren't into it during SOF and US either, so I guess they just didn't like KOL at all or weren't impressed by the show (which I find very hard to understand, of course).
I'm seriously so very in love with Southbound and was so glad that I already knew the words to it. I loved singing along to it, even if none of the people around me knew the song yet and were probably pissed off at hearing me screaming along to it rather than hearing the song, haha.
BTW, my friend said watching it from the back was nice too because he got to see lots of stuff that the hardcore fans didn't get to see. Like some serious lesbian sex parties and pee wars. But he also said that when he left the venue during the encore there were apparently thousands of people in the park that were singing along to all the songs or watching the concert from trees. He said there were probably just as many people outisde the venue as in the venue itself. I find that hard to believe, but it still makes me happy to think that there were way more than those incredible 65.000 people wanting to see KOL
June 30th 2010 definitely was one of the best days of my life, too. I still think about it all the time and wish I could just experience it all over again. And I'm so stoked for the new record and hope for many more awesome KOL concerts to come.
