Gig was wicked. Personally I didn't liked the support acts too much. The Feature were good, rest esp The Black Keys aweful Nevertheless, had a great spot on the barrier on Matts side. Even thu I've been up front I thought the sound was a bit too quiet. New stuff sounds promising. I'm currently uploading the vids I've took onto my youtube - might easily take the next 4 days or so, as it is soooo slow so far Mary Where's My Mind Immortals

Sounds so amazing! I'm so glad everyone (including the boys) had a great time And karma for those vids angelofislington, though I should probably warn you that Vector is deleting all new kol material from youtube Which sucks, cause Mary sounds great!!

I had the most amazing day, sitting in a boiling hot Hyde park getting drunk with the people I love waiting for kol. Missed the support, they didn't sound up to much from where we were but i guess I can't judge if I didn't give them a chance.
We got to about 20 rows back on matts side, they sounded amazing. The new songs, especially radioactive were unreal. Still though, like us all, I was wishing for Arizona or kotr, but getting trani and black thumbnail last felt like a mini victory.
On train home now up to cold Newcastle reflecting on an epic few days.

well hi there this is my review for anyone interested. journey to london was delayed by 1 hour and our little hotel had to be the hottest place on earth on the 3rd floor but it was ok. we were really close to the gig so we wandered down about 4ish i think, saw the drums which were quite lively but the black keys were a bit boring imo. weather was gorgeous and lovely cold beer, massively long toilet queues, i swear EVERYONE emptied their bladders in preparation for the kings! toilets very clean though we were on matt's side back behind the side screen and mostly watched that although got a glimpse of the stage every now and then. this was the setlist according to nme, i know i was there but i don't remember the order they played 'em, although some are always in the same place - as we know - 'Crawl' 'Taper Jean Girl' 'My Party' 'Be Somebody' 'Immortals' (working title) 'Molly's Chambers' 'Fans' 'Milk' 'Closer' 'Mary' 'Wasted' '4 Kicks' 'The Bucket' 'Radioactive' 'Charmer' 'Where Is My Mind?' 'Sex On Fire' 'Notion' 'On Call' 'Southbound' (working title) 'Trani' 'Knocked Up' 'Manhattan' 'Use Somebody' 'Black Thumbnail' sorry if already been posted, haven't read it on this thread, actually i'm not 100% sure it's in the right order i enjoyed the playing, quality as usual and caleb's vocals were goosepimple inducing, matthew was fantastic to watch and there was a lovely close up of him doing vocals with loads of oohs... so sorry i can't remember which one, where he seemed to notice he was on the big screen and he gave a really lovable grin! jared was cool and nathan his usual wonderful self. the crowd around me were a bit distracting as quite a few of them seemed to be more interested in having a conversation, being on the phone or walking in front of me for a large part of the evening - i did get slightly irritated , there was also a huge amount of bottle throwing, and i mean a huge amount, this crowd obviously had plenty of money to waste at £4 a bottle. anybody sitting on shoulders was a prime target, at one point, i think sex on fire, a guy was on his mate's shoulders swinging his shirt round his head and he must have had about 20 bottles lobbed at him, one got him good style but it was all good fun! also a girl in front of me was on her guy's shoulders and although i was stood behind i'm fairly sure she was flashing her boobs a couple of times in the general direction of the stage! still i guess in a crowd that large people have lots of different reasons for coming to a gig? SOF and US of course got the biggest reaction but with the ever changing crowd around us - we didn't move - later in the night there were people that seemed to really be there for the music. early on the OBTN songs seemed to get the biggest reactions near me apart from milk and fans, 4 kicks also went down well, in fact all were welcomed actually but crowd was a bit quiet for the new songs but cheered at the end. it was also noticeable that trani got a cheer. knocked up was amazing, the crowd by us carried on with the woah, woahs long after the song had finished and the new songs were really good live, caleb's vocals really make them for me, i think radioactive might be my favourite but southbound also made an impression - i'm not listening to them again now, i'm saving them for when the album comes out! the encore was fantastic and i too wondered whether they would finish on US but glad they stuck with black thumbnail. it's always sad when a gig finishes, i always want it to go on forever... but we had some fabulously chunky chips and walked back to our hotel with the crowds, the police were only allowing people into the tube in batches to stop any crushing so we were entertained by a policeman with a loud hailer who clearly felt he had missed his vocation as stand up comedian (not!) this is the 9th time i've seen kings live but only the 2nd time at such a big event (Leeds last year was magical) and i still feel wistful that i won't be seeing them at anything much smaller than an arena for the future, although having said that when i saw them at liverpool arena i was closer to the stage than i was at paris which was a much smaller venue so you never know - i think i am just going to have to take my chances in the scrum at the front and get right in there with the diehards! we spent the next day shopping and sightseeing and nearly missed our train home at 8pm but it was a lovely couple of days and i am very glad i was there at hyde park- didn't get much in the way of pix, only a couple of decent ones of the big screen, i'll see what they look like downloaded and i'll post them if they are any good. well i hope this post wasn't too boring, i know i always like to read other people's experiences, i'm just nosey like that i guess xx

Thanks for the review, I always love reading what fans thought of a show, rather than what journalists have to say. Hope your pics turn out good!

Thanks for the review! I like reading other people's impressions of gigs, especially if they are seasoned KOL fans and know the songs. Sounds like it was a good time overall, though i wouldnt have been all that crazy about bottle throwing. Cant believe that they allow bottles @ UK gigs!

Wow! Those are pretty amazing photos you posted Erin!!! My friends and i were talking afterwards about how the park and all those people would look to the boys, and you can see that from the pics! (I'm sure I can see me in one of the daytime ones!!) God i'm still buzzing from it 3 days on!! It's funny, I def took it all in, loved every song, sang along to every song at the top of my voice but now I feel i didnt take it in ENOUGH, is that strange?? I keep looking at my pics and closing my eyes trying to remember it all! For me, although as i said i loved every minute, where is my mind blew me away more than anything, just didnt expect that at all! Its one of my fav songs from one of my fav films and the kings version was out of this world, so eerie and poignant. I guess the chances of that being on the album is a no no though? Not their thing to do that is it?? (although i live in hope!) Yes the bottle throwing got a bit out of hand, i was also a bit worried about one (or its contents) hitting me when one of my friends pointed out that there may not be beer/larger in some of them as the chances of getting to a loo and geting back to your place after 8:30 were zero!! Sorry for my little moan in my last post btw, im not a grumpy so and so really, was just aching, bruised and had serious post Caleb blues! (then again I think I will have until I get to see them again!!!!)

Haha the bottle fight was ridiculous! They seriously hurt if they hit you square on the head full pelt (sadly I found this out twice) My other review was so short, forgot to say how much I enjoyed all the support. Kinda gone off the Drums lately but they were so much better live this time round. Sadly I missed most of The Black Keys queueing for toilet/water. I think The Whigs and Features were my combined favourites Also SO happy to see Matt doing backing vocals on the new stuff, he has such a lovely voice!

Thanks everyone for your reviews, so glad to hear you had an amazing time!
Am I right in thinking it's only plastic bottles? I'm sure it must still hurt like hell but I can imagine it being 10 times worse with glass!

Yes, plastic bottles thankfully! But as Sarah said they must of hurt if they hit you on the head. (I didnt get directly hit luckily but did get soaked by their contents few times....ewww!) The Features were by far my favourites, didnt really see much of the Whigs as I was going to the loo then to get some beers, the Drums..hmm not sure, brilliant performers, I love that eccentric style of perfroming, think I will tube some of their songs when I get a mo because I think I'll quite like them. And the Black Keys....sorry Black keys but I had switched off at that point as i was too busy checking my phone for the time every two minutes waiting for 8:30!!!

I got soaked by quite a few bottles, luckily didn't get hit by any but a few people around me did. One guy behind me got hit right on the back of the head, never heard a thud like it but his head split right open, and he had to be pulled over the barrier to get stitches. Lot of fighting around where i was as well, mostly drunks. I was surrounded by all the drama lol. Luckily it didn't put me off watching the guys who were fantastic.

Shit stitches?! Girl infront of me got pelted a lot. The annoying thing was people who got on their friend's shoulders kept getting them launched at them cos obviously they were blocking people seeing (no offence if you were one of them!) People tried to tell them not to do it but they did anyway, so everyone around them got hit! I don't mind piss so much, just kinda annoying trying to duck whilst watching bands!
Did anyone see literally a minute before they came on someone threw a whole BOX of bottles in the air?! Must have been a good 20 in there :/

Nope, i wasn't on anybody's shoulders & i wouldn't have dared to even try get on someone's. I saw the one girl who must of been up for about 30 seconds and A LOT of bottles were thrown at her, i did see a young girl in front of me who was on her dads shoulders quite a lot of them time, no one threw bottles at her though cos she was about 10 lol, although she did block my view of Caleb a few times I kinda understand throwing empty bottles, but a full box really??? Why waste all that, and it cost a fortune too! Silly people! But for my first ever KOL gig, it was pretty awesome! I need to see them again!
