O2 London 18/08/09Set List: Release, Animal, Corduroy, Why Go, Small Town, Immortality, The Fixer, Even Flow, I Got Shit, Rats, Got Some, Whipping, Light Years, Insignificance, Black, Life Wasted, Blood/("Atomic Dog" - Clinton, Shider, Spradley) 1st encore: Supersonic, Hail Hail, Footsteps, Love, Reign O'er Me, Do The Evolution, Alive 2nd encore: Better Man/(Save It For Later), Crazy Mary, Leaving Here, Porch, Yellow Ledbetter What an amazing night, even better than Shepherds Bush last week. The whole crowd was buzzing. We had really good seats thanks to the 10 club. I was so pleased they opened with Release and it was great hearing Crazy Mary and Footsteps live, really, really happy I love the way that Ed interacts with the crowd, he's such an entertainer, love his little dances and the way he just smooches about all over the stage, haha. He even managed to get the whole floor to step back because everyone was so squashed at the barrier, never seen anything like it! I felt like crying when he said that they wouldn't be coming back to Europe any time soon Guess it'll be another trip to America It was lovely to meet up with Katie and Dave again Here are a few pics I took.

Sounds like you had a great time once more! How often have you seen them now? Great setlist, too. He even managed to get the whole floor to step back because everyone was so squashed at the barrier, never seen anything like it! He's a very kind and caring man, but I can't help but think he probably thought back to that disastrous Roskilde gig in 2000 when he asked people to step back last night. He'd asked the same then, and even though people did as told, it wasn't enough. I've never seen an artist so desperate and fucking helpless as that night.

Definitely not his fault; it was a very sad combination of (partially unforseeable) factors. As far as I know the band has contacted and/or even stayed in touch with the families of the guys that died that night. Not something that gets mentioned in the press (as it is mostly a private matter), but I think it's worth a mention.

Not exactly a public matter losing your child, is it. Yeah, credit where it's due.

I'm surprised you haven't seen them more often, what with you being such a big fan. Or at least you come across as a really big fan. I'm not a real fan, but I've liked them from the start and I've seen them once in '92 and twice at festivals in 2000. I think it's about time I go see them again.

^ I only got into them when I 'found' Kings Of Leon a couple of years ago and they've only just toured over here, that's why I've only seen them twice. I will definitely be seeing them again, come hell or high water.

That makes sense then. The best thing about discovering a band that's been around for a bit is that you can go crazy with buying their older albums and have a TON of new stuff to listen to.

I've just been watching this now and wanted to say how much I enjoyed it. I didn't get to see them, sadly, but this gave me all kinds of good feelings. Love Mike Mcready more every time I hear him play this in every version I've heard. Thanks and karma.

I just got back from seeing them in Toronto. The lead singer of the opening band (Ted and the Pharmecists?) couldn't make it through customs, so Eddie, Stone and Mike came out and same some acoustic solo songs. Eddie sang Sugar Mountain (one of my favorite Neil Young songs) and Needle and the Damage Done. It was beautiful. (we had 3rd row seats - how cool am I?) I've got to say, I've seen Pearl Jam so many times now I think I'm getting PJ'd out. I'd also hate to be Eddie's roadie - he seems high maintenance. His voice was going at the end, but all of us in the audience helped him sing! It was a great show, though. I'm not really liking their new stuff so much - only Got Some. I love that song. Sorry for such rambling but I have to go now. Take care everybody!

^ Gotta love the Vedster Fun fact - when they first broke out into the big time and my sister got obsessed I thought his name was Eggy for some reason? So I used to go round calling him Eggy Vedder. Lol!
