Eddie Vedder in Atlanta 23rd & 24th June 2009
I've just got back from Atlanta after seeing Eddie play at The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on 23rd and 24th June.
Well, where shall I start....if you thought I had a slight crush on him before, well now it's a full blown love affair!!!
His voice 'live' is like nothing on earth, it is absolutely amazing, there is no-one better!
He played 2 outstanding sets, both different with all the usual 'Eddie faults' in them, ie, forgot the words, not singing loud enough so he had to start again. During one song (I forgot now which one), he forgot the words and he just threw his head back and laughed "fuck", eventually he remembered them and started singing again
He had his audiences totally mesmerized from start to finish both nights, when he spoke it just went silent, you could've heard a pin drop, everybody listened. The venue was so small that people were actually shouting things to him and he would reply. On the first night before he had even sung a note, some guy shouted out "Lukin" and Ed shouted back "if you're asking for requests already then you can fuck off". He is so entertaining he had everyone laughing. Before he sung 'Rise Up' he said "this song isn't about getting IT up but if Viagra wanna pay me 3 or 4 million dollars then they can and I'll give the money to charity, obviously!
He had a sofa on the stage in the shape of a pair of feet, on the 2nd night he tried to jump on it and tilt it backwards but true to Eddie form, he landed flat on his face!!! When he came back on though he managed to kick it back the right way and jumped on it and landed up sitting with his legs crossed and a cigarette in his mouth
Unfortunately we weren't allowed any cameras but I managed to video the last song 'Hard Sun' on my phone.
Here are the crap quality pics I managed to get.
This was the venue
And this is the poster I bought, a whopping $35, I managed to get the frame today of a bargain £9.89. I also got a T-shirt with the tour dates on the back
