OMG I am so unbelievably happy that this thread is being put to good use. I have no one to talk to about the Fab Four apart from my dad, and he's not around a lot obviously I don't think I could possibly corner an ultimate fave Beatles track... it's just too hard to choose. I admire the earlier stages of The Beatles best. I can't really pick a fave album either, although among my faves are "Please Please Me", "With The Beatles" and "A Hard Day's Night", the first three! I'm not the biggest fan of the latest stuff, mainly because the music kinda reflects the atmosphere in the band; with some stuff, you can tell they're falling apart and I don't want to be reminded of that. However, I think Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band are great records, particularly Abbey Road. I'm listening to "Please Please Me" and I can tell you my fave song off that... ASK ME WHY!!! OMFG Christ. It's just pure Beatle perfection! The complex chord sequence, the unorthodox changes, the beautiful lyrics... and what gets me the most is that heartbreaking harmonies! John gets the lead, which is probably the best thing possible, and good old Georgie and Paul with those gorgeous "I love you-woo-woo-woo-woooooo" OMGGG! And because John had a sore throat the day they recorded, he sings the line "my happiness still makes me cry" and his voice breaks as if he's actually crying! *Swoon* Oh my god. I'll be quiet now xxx

Anna, some how I knew George would be your favorite. Althought I love them all, mine of course is Ringo & John. Ringo was actually the reason I started playing drums in middle/high school. :-P

I'm so glad we can count on each other for Beatlechat! I'm Shirli, by the way And since everyone's announcing their fave Beatle, then I must pledge my undying love for... Mr. Lennon! I mean of course, I adore ALL of The Beatles; it wouldn't be the same without any one of them, and they're all fantastic in their individual ways. I just have an affinity towards John... I know he did some disrespectful things, as well as some seemingly mad things, but he did some beautiful things too. What I love about John is that he's everything and nothing at the same time. He's beautiful and horrible, right and wrong. He's a complex personality, but he's a perfect representation of human emotion. That's why he's so awesome; he was just a person, just like everyone is, and it makes him easy to relate to and easy to love. His will was strong and he was clever, witty, bloody hilarious! And his voice... I smile to the point of tears when I hear him. And on a side note, his onstage demeanour and his general charm... well he cuts a rather sexy figure too! But he's not a sex icon, and neither is he a hero. He's just a guy who struggled with himself, and expressed his troubles through the MAJESTY of song, and I couldn't admire him more for it. Funny that; me and John haven't even spent a single moment alive in this world together, and yet he's one of the biggest driving forces in my life. Bless that man And NOW I'll be quiet! *Talks WAY too much* xxx

I listened to the Beatles quite a bit at work today. For some reason I was in the mood (thanks to this thread!).
I remember first hearing them as a little kid. In kindergarten we would sing Yellow Submarine and Octopuses Garden.

Oh I just remembered! Anyone who was a kid in Australia in the 70's or 80's will remember that Fat Cat used dance to an instrumental Ob-la-di Ob-la-da!

Haha cool! I can't really remember the first time I EVER heard The Beatles, cos they've been played in the family for god knows how long. I just kinda picked them up when I was small. Heh, I'm laughing 'cos I was browing through a random Beatles forum and someone called Paul a "flabby baby face" xxx

I've been listening to the Beatles before I was even born, haha. My parents wanted me to be a fan of good music from the day they found out my mom was pregnant. They've always been one of my favorite bands. 'Here Comes the Sun' never fails to put a huge smile on my face. It's been my favorite song since I was about eight years old. I think that Abbey Road is their is their best album, but I've recently been loving the White Album. What does everyone think about the new Love Cirque du Soliel album? I think that it's pretty cool the way they mixed some of the songs together.

I'm not a huge fan of the "Love" album, but then I think it's just the dismantling of the songs... I'll just be getting into a song and then it changes It's just me being stubborn haha, I'm sure it's great. "Here Comes The Sun" is a great one, I have a fond memory of it too... I went on holiday to Tenerife earlier this year. My dad and his rich new girlfriend were out there for a month and I flew out there to meet them for a few days. Not only did it suck because I dislike his rich girl, Tenerife itself sucked because it was all English scrubbers thinking they were living the "good life" because they owned a bar and they slept with every girl in the fucking place. It was disgusting I was so sad that the first night, I just cried until I pretty much threw up and then had a shaky night's sleep. The next night, me and my dad were sitting around downstairs and his gf went to bed. He started playing me Beatles albums, even the rare stuff on the Anthologies with really early stuff and outtakes. We stayed up most of the night listening to them and talking about music, which was a really great time for me and my dad, considering how he's never usually around to talk like that to. The next morning, I was waking up and thinking about The Beatles and thought something like "I won't hear them like that again", like it was a one night stand or something... And what do I hear through the door? My dad with his acoustic, playing "Here Comes The Sun", like the greatest wake-up call in the world xxx
