There's a roof above the stage Why would a bird fly under the roof? It's all so odd. As I said, we were up close & something did happen, but NOT a huge deal. In fact the only reason I noticed was because Jared made some weird movement. If I wasn't looking at him directly/as close as I was, I wouldn't have even noticed a thing. In fact, I thought it was a bug or something.

This is total bollocks. I'm on the other sie of the fucking world and I'm this upset, I can't imagine how disappointed you must all feel They need to man up. This happens ALL THE TIME, shows are cut short (although never THIS short) 'cause of flying beer/coins/glowsticks etc. Although I feel I should slightly stand up for Jared and point out that they have all, at some point pulled something like this. Shit (literally) happens, and I guess the day you care more about those slight discomfort/annoyances than the masses of people who have payed, travelled and psyched themselves up to see YOU because they love you is the day you need to have a long, hard look at yourself. (I also agree that twitter is in NO way an explanation.) F***!

And most artists would just take 10-15min & clean up or something, breathe. Crowd would totally understand. Not just walk off stage, without an explanation & later have time to tweet and say ''unsanitary.'' Please, I've seen them play in bars more unsanitary. I think I should go to bed since I am still so angry haha. Tomorrow won't be a fun drive home. Thanks for the 6 hours of nothing, KOL. Thanks for the 12 hour flight to Reading last year, when you guys also had another issue. Cheers.

Aw man, sucks to be at Reading AND here calebfan13! That's something no fan should have to experience once, let alone twice.
I'm so unimpressed right now.

I just still cannot get over the fact NONE of them had the decency to tell the fans. Nope. Just walked off stage. But thanks for that tweet, Nathan! I felt like at the moment they could care less about the fans. And being fairly close to Jared, stuff wasn't a big deal. But he had to make it one. The parking lot was worse after. Everyone just trashing stuff and sad/angry. And I'm sure they will release some BS statement exaggerating the facts. Still so gutted. When your favorite band lets you down, a few times now, it's not cool.

Wow! Just woke up and heard this, I'm quite shocked that they just walked off stage, without any explanation. I really feel sorry for the fans who travelled far for the show, and even for those who didn't travel far, it's just decent to explain to the crowd why you walked off stage. Not everyone has millions in the bank, loads fans actually have to save and work just to get to shows. Maybe they were scared of the reaction? But still its just disrespectful. I've been crapped on by bloody birds and I can safely say, its NOT a big deal. I agree with those of you who said they should of taken a little break, cleaned up and carried on. It's really upsetting EDIT: I would like to add that many fans dont run away and hide when bottles full of pee is being thrown at them. Just sayin.

It's not like they didn't have microphones in front of there faces! How easy would it have been to just say a quick explanation! This backlash wouldn't have been half as bad if there was a proper explanation. Kings, your fans love you, but don't forget to love us back. EDIT: However, we should remember than in their many years of touring, they've played probably 98% of their scheduled shows, and this is most definitely a tiny blip on their very very lovely history. This may not be any consolation for those that went to the gig, but their will always be another gig. PLUS at least you got to see their shiny faces, even if it was for only 3 songs!

I just read Nathan's and everyone else's tweets and this thread and all I can say is: What a Diva.

Was it really that exaggerated? I figured it must have been bad for them to have walked off stage but I guess they're being a bunch of spoiled divas. I'm so sorry for all who went especially those who travelled. I don't enjoy bird poop either, but soap and water does the trick. And they obviously knew it was a problem, so surely it could have been dealt with earlier. Good old fashioned BB gun, or poisoned bread, perhaps? Anything?!

Well the press is partially right. Yes there was a bird and heat. But what a joke. Heat? I was at Bonnaroo where they played, same heat. Among other shows they've played in heat. As I said in a previous post, they'll just come out with some statement exaggerating or something. I WAS right up front & saw with my own 2 eyes. Not a big deal. If it was I would be the first to admit it & fully understand their decision. 1. Could've had the decency to tell the crowd/not via Twitter. 2. Could've just went backstage 15-20min & sorted it out, crowd would've understood that. But no, Jared had a diva moment. Still angry about it & heading back on the lovely 6 hour ride home. I hope those at the concert tonight do have fun though! Don't want you wasting any $, no one deserves that. I just feel like it's Kings ''throw a tantrum on every tour'' Leon lately. Still support them, buy their album, but not sure if I'll see them live again for a bit. Twice at a concert I've been at they haven't been so considerate to the crowd.
When I am home I'll definitely try & post some photos of the short time they actually played. I think I figured out how to finally haha.

It seems like hear, and issues with heat, with Caleb half passing out at every other show are a problem. Perhaps their record label should consider covered venues, if they are arranging for them to tour in the middle of summer in places like TN, MO, AZ and IL. I suspect that hear played a bigger role than bird poo in the whole fiasco.

I suspect that hear played a bigger role than bird poo in the whole fiasco. But he only blamed the ''unsanitary'' bird poop in his very professional tweet. Honestly, no matter what the reasons are, they still didn't tell the fans a thing & walked off. And that's why people are just as upset. They should stick to playing indoor venues then, if that's the case, yes.

Oh, absolutely. They should've released a statement of some kind, an apology. But they never do that, whether Rotterdam or Reading or whatever, and now this.
And then if it WAS the heat, then how do you come to your fans, who've been standing and sweating for 7-8 hrs, and say, "hey, too hot to play. Sorry. Bye." So the bird got blamed.
Seems like a combo of many frustrations.
Really am so sorry for everyone who got hosed last night. It totally sucks.

Official Statement: Pigeon Poops in Kings of Leon Bassist's Mouth, Concert Canceled Midway After performing just three songs on Friday night (July 23), the Kings of Leon canceled their concert because of unsanitary conditions at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in St. Louis, MO. After the Nashville-based band performed “Taper Jean Girl,” the third song of their set, drummer Nathan tweeted, “So sorry St. Louis. We had to bail, pigeons sh–ting in Jared’s mouth and it was too unsanitary to continue. FULL REFUNDS 4 ALL. SO SORRY. Don’t take it out on Jared, it’s the f–king venue’s fault. You may enjoy being s–t on but we don’t. Sorry for all who traveled many miles.” KoL’s publicist even released the following statement: ——————— PIGEON INFESTATION FORCES KINGS OF LEON OFFSTAGE EARLY IN ST. LOUIS An infestation of pigeons living in the rafters of the Verizon Amphitheatre in St. Louis, MO, forced the Kings of Leon to walk offstage after three songs last night. Even though opening bands The Postelles and The Stills came offstage complaining of getting riddled with large amounts of pigeon excrement, the Kings of Leon decided to carry on regardless. The band felt it would be unfair to the fans to cancel the show at that late moment. “I’m surprised they stayed on for as many songs as they did,” said Vector Management’s Andy Mendelsohn, who reps KoL. “Jared was hit several times during the first two songs. On the third song, when he was hit in the cheek and some of it landed near his mouth, they couldn’t deal any longer. It’s not only disgusting — it’s a toxic health hazard. They really tried to hang in there. We want to apologize to our fans in St. Louis and will come back as soon as we can.” When the band arrived earlier in the day, the venue warned management that there had been a significant pigeon infestation problem with summer shows over the years, but they were doing all they could to fix it. “We couldn’t believe what The Postelles and The Stills looked like after their sets,” said bassist Jared Followill. “We didn’t want to cancel the show, so we went for it. We tried to play [but] it was ridiculous.” Kings of Leon are headed to Chicago tonight to perform at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre as scheduled. I feel so sorry for all those that were there, I cant imagine how I would have felt if that had happened at Hyde park. I probably would have cried like a baby and would have been angry and frustrated too. A refund for your tickets probably no where near covers your other expenses, not to mention your hurt. But, (and please dont shoot me for saying this) pigeons ARE vermin. Living in London I know this. They carry almost as many diseases as rats. In fact, they are quite often nicknamed "flying rats". Imagine rats shitting on you from a great height? I'm not saying anybody shouldnt be angry, or, that none of you know this, but please bear this in mind. I feel so sad today, for all of you, but for them too.

Their publisicst statement is a lie. Not a surprise, though. I was upclose & Jared WAS NOT hit ''several times.'' Jared just being a diva, nothing new. And I've said a million times, whether pigeons are vermin, etc, fine. It's the way the band handled it. Not a sorry in person/on stage. Nothing. Just got up & left. But hey, they're rich right? They don't care what people spent money on gas, hotel, food, beer, etc. Nathan will just tweet about how he's excited for the show tonight & how he's drunk. Life's good. Sorry that I keep sounding so bitter. But after this & Reading it's just... Wow guys.

^ Sorry, I should of added in my post that it still doesnt excuse the way it was handled. I'm also so sorry you've had to experience this twice.
I just felt the need to point out that pigeons ARE disgusting creatures. I hate the bloody things. (even more so now!)
