I'm not being harsh either but I don't think its fair to judge people and say that they'll be happy as long as they've got beer, their soaps and football? And as far as Clegg's immigration policy goes those people are living here illegally yes, and neither Brown nor Cameron will likely kick them out of the country. Making them legal to live here would mean that they would be paying tax etc. and some explotative people in this country would not be making money out of them illegally. As much as I would like the problem of immigration to be sorted out, I don't believe kicking all illegal immigrants out of teh country would solve anything, and I don't think it is very likely or possible to happen so Clegg's proposal isn't ideal but it is a relavtively good idea as far as I'm concerned.

^I'd agree with that. I think it's an unlikely outcome, but if Clegg's immigration proposals were implemented and it meant that former illegal immigrants were legalised but, therefore, subject to all the safe regulations, taxes, etc, as the rest of us, it'd be nothing but a good thing.
I love culture and I think foreign people who can offer skills and do jobs that some people may be too proud to take on, whilst also paying taxes like everyone else, should be allowed to live here without prejudice. I'd hate to see Britain the way bigots like the BNP want it.

i also like lib dem policy of allowing forien workers but trying to regionalise them, for example london is pretty full but perhaps there a jobs waiting to be filled in other areas. This would also stop people from feeling that immigrants are taking their jobs, as the immigrants are mostly going to areas where jobs are waiting for them.
also helene "leaked reports" are frequently used as propagnda, people believe them but a report is just an opinion or someone using numbers and stats to support their view.
also hugely insulting that you classify british people as only interested in beer, soaps and football and seem to point to that meaning they are thick or something i like beer, i love football and i like tv doesn't mean i cant be intelligent or interested in politics and there are many people who are the same.
sorry i know you say you aren't trying to be harsh but you are being harsh. You have your own opinion and thats great but you seem to suggest that people with a different opinion are wrong and stupid which is insulting.

I can't say I'm thrilled that Cameron's in.
However, one good thing that has come out of all of this for me personally: I now have far more respect for Gordon Brown (both the former PM and Lowri's guinea pig - RIP) than I ever did while he was in charge. He showed a lot of dignity and I actually felt quite sorry for the guy.
