I'm not completely sure myself but i think its pretty much whoever gets clegg on their side. I dont think the smaller parties have enough seats that if they sided with cameron he'd win over brown if he had clegg on his side

i think that if lib dem side with tory then they could govern but they have pretty major policy differences or if lib dem side with labour they need some other parties on side to govern. Or labour can run a minority gov't i think??

Last time there was a minority government it only lasted months and they had to have another election, so I think they pretty much need Clegg to be strong enough to last.

it's going better than i thought for labour actually. i thought i'd be waking up true blue this morning, hence why i didn't want to get out of bed because i thought if i didn't get up it wouldn't happen (true story). they're still closing the gap a bit on the tories. i know they're not going to overtake them, but the smaller the gap the better. i think the best thing for them to do would be for GB to stand down and for david milliband to take his place. then they should have another election in a few months to a year's time and my prediction would be that labour could win outright with that. evidently, people don't like david cameron and i think he's what's holding the conservatives back. milliband on the other hand is very likable compared to brown, so if he were in the driving seat we could probably get labour back on track. my constituency (manchester central) is labour at about 53%, so at least i know my vote wasn't wasted!

^ my constituency was labout at 49.9 or something like that. I voted lib dem and they were up over 2% here, so I don't feel like my vote was entirely wasted lol.
If I hadn't have voted lib dem it would have been labour so I'm ok, its just that our labour MP here is awful and no-one likes him.

i'm surprised that hazel blears is still in for salford. she's despised here! to be honest though, i don't think many people in salford can read so it was just pot luck as to where the cross went.

This just about sums up how crap our voting system is for me - Labour have 29.2% of overall votes, Lib-Dem have 22.9% of overall votes. This though translates into labour having 252 seats and Lib-Dem 53 seats. Makes perfect sense

i think the lib dems would work better with labour than with the conservatives. if they were to align with the conservatives i think many of their supporters would abandon them.

Happy that Lib Dem kept their seat locally, I like our MP here a lot.
I agree that the Tory/Lib Dem alliance seems an odd one and less fitting than a Lib/Lab alliance. Will be interesting to see.
I'm so disappointed the Lib Dems didn't do better. It was looking so promising for them.

Wrexham stayed Labour thankfully, I'm still going to bite my sister's head off tomorrow for not voting though. She's a complete knob, "I don't really care about it all"?! I really hope Lib Dems along with Plaid Cymru and the Scottish parties join forces with Labour to have a good crack at it. If it goes the other way I'm just hoping the Tories will fuck it up and a new election is held when the shit hits the fan. Either way I can't complain because this is far better than Conservatives ruling by themselves I suppose. just wait till your sister complains about anything related to gov't then lay into her, people who dont vote cant moan for 5 yrs!

they're all the same, Lib Dems would do anything for power, so of course they're going to make alliances with the tories, its their biggest chance. My boyfriend is from birmingham, has studied politics and communication, he spoiled his paper, as he knew nobody would actually make a change. I heard people say they would vote lib dem because they wanted a change from the labour, I mean, honestly, can you get more deluded than that ?

agreed^ very harsh. Not everyone studies politics and im sure there are people who do study politics who disagree with that. Its all opinion isn't it??

I know very little about politics on the whole, but my best friend is also a Lib Dem supporter and believe me, she knows her stuff when it comes to politics. She could in no way be referred to as 'deluded'.
Different strokes for different folks. I'm Lib Dem all the way but I don't think others are wrong for who they support. Each person supports the party that best reflects their beliefs, morals and hopes for the future. How is that deluded of them?

It is all about opinion and I'd never try and make anyone think the same as I do. I'm not the most knowledgable about politics but I'd say I'm quite clued up some parts of it lately since I've been so interested.
You don't have to study politics do know who to vote for. And saying someone is deluded for who they vote for is pretty much calling them stupid, to me. I don't have a politics degree but I'm not a stupid person.

you live in a country where a lot (not saying all) of people complain about immigration (amongst other things), and I am not talking about BNP friendly people, yet many would be ready to vote for a party who would not hesitate to regularise 600 000 illegals ? (do you actually know that your "mass immigration" was a Labour initiative to make britain a more multicultural society in the 90's, not making that up, the report was leaked a while ago), I would consider myself leanings towards centre (yes we have centrist party in france) but lets be honest, if you take an interest in politics and if you look at all 3 parties policies, nothings going to change, unless someone with real guts comes up, and its not going to be Cameron, Brown or Clegg. I know people will just be happy with what they've got, as long as they've got their beer, soaps and football. But for anybody who knows how to read between the lines, this is a pretty sad state of affairs.
Sorry if I am being harsh, I just happen to care, Britain is like my adoptive country and although I wasnt born there, I have a deep interest in your current affairs
And no becs, I wasnt calling you stupid, I am sure there are people who are smart enough to know what and who they are voting for, but I also know some other are just voting because thats how they were told
