All of these are good posts. I personally think the boys are just freaking tired of touring the same places all the time. For example: they went to Canada last month and had "the best audiences" ever. How long have the Canadians been begging them to come play there? Um, forever? Nothing against the British, but perhaps that market has been saturated for now. I bet the boys have a blast in Mexico. The people of Mexico have been begging them to go play there for a while now too. I bet they get huge reception there. There, that's my two cents worth.
Bottom line: stop touring so much, play in places you haven't played before, take a break.

thats quite a good idea coxy, id hate for them not to tour the uk but maybe they should just do their own shows here for a bit and leave the festival slots alone.

Yes, South America - they could return to the hotel where they made the infamous Hotel MTV videos in Argentina.
And many places in Europe haven't had them a lot either.
And how about Estonia - there have been a few Estonian fans on here before. Just some ideas!
Or they could come and play in my living room - I would go mental - it would be the best audience in the world.

^ I was thinking about that last night (couldn't sleep because I was so bothered by what had happened :[) and that would be the coolest thing ever! I was thinking it would be funny if we just surprised them in Nashville one day. Like hey yer playing a show tonight. Uhh what?? Makes no sense, seeing as I was half asleep, but that would be the best surprise of their lives.

That speech/post was beautiful and i've been thinking about the same thing all day. But the truth is. The boys have always wanted fame but now its found them and they are suffering the consequences of touring every country that speaks alittle english, answering the same questions over and over again, paparazzi and everything else. The boys weren't to know Sex on fire or use somebody were gonna be massive hits. So its not their fault, they were just going on as they always have. Sex on fire was ment to be a B side. Those two songs have brought a whole new audience to KOL, in which they only know the album "only by the night" so when the boys did songs from all their other albums at reading, the crowd didn't have a clue seems as most of them were college/GCSE results kids and are too young to remember most of KOL other albums. But The boys deserve a long well deserved break. Not a couple of months but at least a year to unwind, chill and get back to being friendly with each other. and write great Kings of leon songs

I think that was so well said Jas. Maybe they are getting tired of all the sexsomebody fans who only go to their shows for the two songs. But at the end of the day, KOL are the ones who created the songs so i don't think they really have the right to get majorly pissed off at them. I too think that KOL shouldn't make another record to try and be more mainstream, cuz look where it's got them (Reading last night). Just stick to what's best for you and then we'll see who the real fans are! Who needs a Grammy anyway when you've got the best goddam fans in the world! (i'm speaking of course about all the lovely HA'ers ) A HA-only gig would be so brilliant!!!! But I think it should be in my living room, not coxy's

I was first drawn to Kings of Leon because of SOF...After reading about them I spent days and nights researching past articles, and watching videos. I got to see how they developed as a band literally over night...and inevitably so, I became a huge fan of their music! All I got to say is that their music has to be laced with a rhythmic drug, because I am hooked! Every single note that is played and lyric that is sung affects me in the hugest way. Their overall sound makes me want to do great things, and in turn I hope great things keep happening for them! I also found out about them after reading about them in Rolling Stone, I think it was a review of "YAYM" soon after it came out. That, plus seeing photos of them got me interested so I bought the CD without having heard a single song first...and immediately, I was hooked! I only felt more strongly about them with each subsequent release, and of course, seeing them live for the first time (opening for U2 in '05) pushed me into the deep end. I feel proud to call myself a long-time fan, and considered them my "secret band" since no one else I knew had heard of them, nor did they seem to care. When OBTN came out and I first heard SOF I thought it was a really great song, full of hooks and some great guitar-slinging plus Caleb's distinctive vocals. When it started getting played on the radio, I was really excited and felt so happy and proud of them! At the last two shows I went to I was surrounded by both old and newer fans...the newer ones ALL said they heard SOF then decided to explore the King's back catalog, and this is what got them hooked as fans. So SOF does serve an important purpose...it introduces people to the band and the smart ones are exploring the rest of their music...that is a valuable thing and I salute SOF for doing this. But if the Kings are sick of the song, for god's sake get rid of it in their sets...only a few people might be offended but the rest of those smart kids will still love them!

I love KOL and always will. They gave me three beautiful albums that I will love forever. I think last night's antics were them trying to 'save face' and show us they're still rockstars at the end of the day. OBTN, IMO, is not a true Kings of Leon record. It's the result of manipulation to fit into a market. As much as they try to deny it, it's true. I will still be here, long after the 'sex sombody' fans have fallen off the bandwagon, even if I don't post here in the future. I know they say we've had enough of them, but TBH, I think they had enough of us. Their new focus is on the US and I dont blame them for that. But, how can you get upset to play song that you've created because people embrace it. I hope they make 'sex somebody' as rare as King of the Rodeo or Day Old Blues is, now. Play it once in a blue moon. Caleb's speech left me disheartened. I felt like it was a big 'fuck you' to England. But I think he need to remember that his UK/US indie audience will always be here for him. One song people, dont always stay for the ride of the second album. I want them to take a break and make an album that they are truly happy with. Use some of the anxiety and put it into the new album. OBTN, had no grime, he didn't even do his trademark scream. Look at Pearl Jam, Radiohead, The strokes, White stripes. You don't have to change to be mainstream. Roll on album number 5............ Also agree. I'll be here until all this hype dies off. You're my only boys, and I'll love you always. And I say it's time to revive KOTR and DOB. Always be true to your roots.
