I read on the tour forum that it was Blur who had a fall out, not Kings.
And while I agree that swinging his guitar into the crowd could've seriously hurt someone, how awesome would going home with his wretched guitar be?

I'm in shock - I can't believe he'd do that. That guitar IS Kings of Leon. This sucks. I don't know what else to say, it's a terrible loss.

I can't believe he did it, i was really upset when i heard however odd that sounds. But that article doesn't sound Kings of leon like. I know Caleb cares about the sound but I doubt he would let it get to him that bad. And it was apparently Blur that had the fight and had to be split up my their manager.
RIP caleb's guitar. I hope lebs not too upset about it. Its so odd, the end of a very special era.

He could find a replacement of the same model but it wouldn't really be the same, or have the history. Personally, I hope he manages to find a different model that also has some character and quirkiness, as well as a great tone that we can grow to love as the embodiment of a new KoL sound. It won't be easy. |

There is a really interesting article in the September 2009 issue of Guitarworld magazine with Matt and Caleb that is worth a read.
I agree with you couldabeenawonder..that guitar IS kol.
It's gonna be hard for Caleb to find a replacement with the same beautiful sound....yeah sure he can get a new guitar but that old one was a piece of history.

I did cry after I got home from Oxegen. Nearly cried at Oxegen too and on the bus home. One of my friends kept laughing at me.  But it's true, that guitar is KOL. Every single song has been written on that guitar and it had the most beautiful sound. And I don't believe that they had a fight(except for one over the fact that Caleb broke his guitar). Or that they were going to pull out of Oxegen. Or that it was just because of sound problems. We all know KOL are perfectionists but theyre not that bad. Something else clearly happened and I really hope Caleb's ok. I don't think he broke the drums, I think it was just the skin on the bass drum. But I really cant believe this happened. And that there's no photos or video of it anywhere. I really hope he finds a good replacement. |

it is indeed very bad that caleb smashed his guitar. it was a symbol. he always played with it. well... i'm sad too.  don't know what happened but i was sad as well when Jared smashed his white bass. since gibson don't make anymore thunderbirds in white its bad. and i think the red guitar caleb's using is the same model as the other, its just more recent i guess. |

Apparently he did hurt someone in the crowd. The guitar neck split a girl's head open, and she got hospitality tickets to Reading & Leeds festival, and met someone from the Killers.
