Yeah on Newsbeat tonight (Thursday 04/08) Nathan was on about that they (KOL) have more or less got the NEXT album sussed out.

It was only about 20 seconds long, but Nathan said that cos they write their songs in sound checks that on tour you do ' X ' amount of sound checks etc and thats where they were writing most of their songs !!

Now , is it me or are they just running away with it too fast.

Many ppl liked OBTN, but not many thought it was their ' BEST ' work did they?

I GET how they write their songs, but surely 4 albums in 6 years, with possible another almost written album basically, isnt that too fast ??

They have the talent, but me for one havnt been that convinced of the new(ish) image, mad screaming woman throwing them selfs at Caleb and the boys .. style ?

Love them to bits, prefer the first 3 albums tho?


IS THIS EXCITING NEWS or were we expecting a quiet period from KOL after the world tour ??

I agree with your point about the first 3 albums though...the best music ever created. BUT, they are older and everything, and I've come to terms with the fact that they probably won't ever return to their roots

Yeah at first, my initial response was " waaaahhoooo new album" then it set in a bit and i thought, ooooo will it be better than OBTN? if its done so quick, really i want some more ... not really their roots type stuff, but more thumpers like in Becasue of the Times,

I think they should at least wait until the end of next year to even think of releasing any new material. Let OBTN run its course first.

But yeah I do hope they put a lot of thought into the new album; the thing that reassures me a bit is that they're always talking about how they like to switch it up, so now that they've had their 'somber' record with OBTN, hopefully they'll start rocking out again!!

I kinda want something blusey. I had a dream that they made a very blusey album, that was kinda concept-ish. A main theme and stuff, that's not just chicks, gettin' laid and sex and stuff. I want them (Caleb) to really challenge himself when it comes to the writing.

considering they recorded only by the night last february and they're touring through february and probably touring all summer, i think they'll be taking their time with the record. they write a lot of their songs during soundcheck but they've got a ton of soundchecks left before they'll get a chance to record. i don't think it's too much of a rush, really. they didn't give a date for recording, did they? let's have some faith in the boys!

noooop it was just nathan basically saying they have a whole bunch of material written, but no obviously we are NOT talking recording stages by a far far mile. once the tour is over i imagine they will take a break and prob work on some of the stuff at home, then take it into the studio again, and take it from there.

I doubt they'll bring out another album til 2010. They have a long tour to complete plus summer festivals etc. I reckon they'd want a little bit of a break as well. Say they started recording at the start of 2010, roughly the same turnaround as this year in terms of recording etc, probably talking end of summer 2010. Or they might be desperate to get it done and record bits pieces whenever they are free over the next 6 months and have it out for the end of 2009.

2010 sounds about right, even though the time between BOTT and OBTN was only a year, since this album is 'bigger' I would expect them to stretch it out a bit more.

Yep, a couple years is good. Give us wanting more. And besides, I don't want them burning themselves out.

Yeah 2010 seems more realistic, i just hope they rock a bit more, i do like OBTN but ive said it before i dont want another album full of songs like that, their at their best when they write rocking tunes ala charmer, black thumbnail, pistol of fire, spiral staircase i could go on and on...............

it's what they do. clearly. i'd personally prefer a little less of a rushed effort though.

I just hope whatever they do they take more time to actually put thought and passion into their new album to make up for OBTN for those of us who were disappointed.

thats what i thought!
i don't want them to get lost in their work. it has happened to so many bands before, they produced music over and over again...i'm not really happy about the news. kinda feel worried about them

i just want something 'ballsy', 'bright' and a bit 'quirky'....

ye.. i think you know what i mean *cough* not this album *cough*

not saying that they should go back to the early days.. but if ther gonna do this typa thing.. they should at least do it as well as i know they can.
