I've been doing some hardcore thinking these last few weeks.
With OBTN there were loads of opinions, disappointment, happiness, disagreement etcetc and I'm having a hard time sorting out my own opinions about it all. I do like the album, it's not about that, it's just everything that came with it.
And when I read about them playing at Madison Square Garden it just hit me; KoL isn't just my band anymore.
So, what do you all think about KoL's future? What lies ahead?
Are you afraid of them "selling out and going Coldplay"?
Are you afraid all this fame is gonna overwhelm them and they'll break up?
Are you afraid you're gonna stop listening to them or will you support them whichever direction they and their music takes?
And, are you afraid they're gonna get too old and mature and decide to stop playing music to get married and have kids and so on?
I think I am a little afraid. I'm used to people having no idea who KoL are when they ask me about my favorite band and well, I'd rather had it that way but I'm also glad they get the success they deserve. I don't think I could ever stop loving KoL but recently I've been doubting more than ever 'cause I have no idea what things will be like in 5 years. Maybe I shouldn't even think so hard about it but sadly enough KoL is one of the most important things in my life and I don't like any bands nearly as much.
So, umm, this kinda came out of nowhere so sorry for rambling but I hope you understood half of it ahah.
Thoughts and speculations, please!

it would be kinda scary to see them still wearing the same clothes, banging out the same tunes and sporting the same hair arrangements on their reunion tour in 2033 (2043, i'll be kind) but to reply to yr thread seriously pepscake, personally, i'm gonna take it as it comes. i really do not want to see them slip down the shitter but neither am i expecting them to. which kinda roughly sums up the answer i'd give to all yr questions |

I don't want to sound like a tool but i would support them in anything they do, but since Kings of leon are the best shit ever i don't think that makes me a tool

exactly what i've been saying in the other forum (or at least i tried, and maybe i didn't convey my thoughts well enough in my message)
anyway, i am a bit afraid. it hit me when i tried buying tickets, and the first venue was sold out. kind of shocked me a bit. i'm like what the hell? just yesterday the kings were like unknown; now everyone and their mum wants to go see them.
i dunno.
i think regardless, i'll stick by the kings in whatever they'll do.

The way things are going does scare me abit.
But i think we just have to get used to it.
I really do think i will support them no matter what and always will. I just cant stop loving them.
The only thing that upsets me abit now is obvs the venues are getting bigger, and the tickets get sold out quicker and it scares me i wont get my seat anymore! Also, i never met them like after or before a show. And now i dont think i ever will get the chance to unless i like, win a competition lol.
Cause before, if they came out, you would have a rele good chance of meeting them and getting a picture. Now.. i just cant see that happening anymore, there will just be too many people and they cant get to everyone.
That side of things makes me sad, but i would never stop loving them as a band, even if this fame thing does take over.

All good things must come to an end. The day will come when they stop playing music...or MAYBE even just stop playing good music! Who knows. They could end up like Aerosmith and play into their 50s and 60s! All we can do is just enjoy the ride while it lasts |

would you see yourself as a "sellout" when you become successful?
i personally think it is great to see a band have a wide catalog of sound. this variety will insure their sound will have the ability to survive "the test of time".

I like the idea. I can't wait for to see where they go.
They still have room for a Stairway to Heaven type album.
I think it's unlikely because they aren't Zeppelin, but
more than likely, they'll make something just as good....
the KoL way.

just as it's really annoying to hear recently that people only like sex on fire, it's also kinda sad when long term fans want them to stay below the radar, so that they can feel cool cos they like an unknown band

The only thing i'm worried about is that they turn in to Bon Jovi and trudge out the stadium shows every year, so as long as that doesnt happen im alright |
