Oh My Goddddddd!!!! I'm leaving around lunchtime and hope to be in Newcastle by about 4. We've given ourselves an extra hour for the weather on the roads. So excited!! I hope the boys have packed their thermals as I've heard the weather in Newcastle is pretty grim for today. Like most of the country, snow and ice. *bbbrrr!!*

I'm Surprised nobody has wrote anything about an amazing night! Well as most of HA knows i'm a die hard KOL fan from the early days so the folks that are the same as me will know my excitment at them playing JOE'S HEAD and WASTED TIME!. My throat burst singing joe's head so hard.
First of all this being the 4th time seeing the lads, Caleb seemed to have an extra swing in his step lastnight. We all know of his little wiggle but it seemed to be none stop lastnight. He even asked the crowd to sing along, once before SOF and during an encore peformance of Knocked Up. On the "woo ooh oooh oohh" Part Caleb asked the Back of the crowd to join in. His usual velcro shoes seems to have broken. Its the most i've seen him moved around, pacing to the sides of the stage, smiling and interacting the fans. Not his is usual stuck slap bang in the middle of stage behind the safety of his mic.
As alot of people know i'm not the biggest fan of the new record but i have to say alot of them did sound so much better live. The Huge sound of Crawl Opening up the night was amazing. And yes we were lucky enough to be the first people to hear Notion, which happens to be one of the few songs i do really like on the new album. And it sounded great, Caleb pre-apolgised before they played it incase it didnt sound so good being the first time they have played it, Aye right! When do they play a song poor?
Only poor points of the night were M83 opening up and a large section of the crowd. Even tho Jared seems to love M83 they dont seem to be the right kind of act to be opening for KOL. I Know they have alot of fans on here but the music seems to be more chill out. The whole crowd never moved once during their whole set. My wife was embarresed by how little applause they got.
Another Poor Point was the crowd. Alot of the crowd was superb singing along and getting as excited as me when Joe's Head kicked in but alot never moved. When Caleb asked for help singing along for the next song and then the opening riff of SOF kicked in about 6000ish people decided to wake up. What so sad to see was after SOF they went to sleep again during an amazing pefermance of TRANI! I hurt my hand slapping the side of my wheelchair in excitment when i heard the intro of it.
One last funny thing was the end of the whole gig itself. Nearing the end of Trani i was waiting for Caleb to attack that poor mic stand once again but he didnt which was a huge shock. When the lads came back for the encore we got Knocked Up followed by Manhattan and then Charmer. At that point i was happy and sad as we had not gotten Blackthumb Nail. But i was shocked and suprised that we got a 4 song encore and they finished with Blackthumb Nail which was stunning. At the end of the song Calebs emotions got the better of him and he Headbutted the mic to the ground lol. My wife was taking video of the song at the time but she's not checked to see if she caught Caleb nutting the mic. If she did i'll get it online for you all to see.
I cant remember the order of songs but here are all them, well if i remember them all as it was a good 2hr set from the lads. Here goes then.
Joes Head Wasted Time Trani Mollys Chambers Slow Night Slow Long King Of the Rodeo Pistol of Fire Milk The Bucket Razz Four Kicks Knocked up Charmer On Call McFearless Blackthumb Nail My Party Fans Arizona Closer Crawl Sex on Fire Use Somebody Manhattan Revelry Notion Cold Desert
And thats why my throat is so sore today! I have to admit it was probably the best i've heard them and £25 for all that is the best Xmas you could hope for. Just Amazing!

It was amazing. Caleb seemed to be in a VERY good mood. I agree about a large section of the crowd, I was standing near people who just talked constantly so I got really annoyed and just pushed past them and a bit further in. I was going to list my highlights but tbh, every song was amazing. If I had to go with just one though it would be a toss up between Joes head and milk. Honestly awsome! I'm still on such a high.

Yeah last night was epic. the crowd for me was amazing, everyone was in such a good mood-when people fell down, they were helped back up etc. caleb seemed so happy, he said we were the best crowd so far (maybe said that to brighton & notts?) and was very talkative, saying "with the year we've had because of you guys, it wouldnt be right to end the year without coming over and playing to ya'll, merry christmas" which wasnice.
the setlist was so good, i did miss the absence of taper and california, but notion was a nice way to make up for it.
trani was the best thing ever. so good to hear that again after a years wait from last time.
and another thing, Caleb and Nathan went to Digital club in newcastle last night, couldnt get near them because of security though.
btw parscrunt, i thought the crowd were very happy. Most of the fans near me (5 rows from the front, right infront of caleb) were hard fans, singing their hearts out to wasted time etc.
one point i will make is there were two chavy girls near the front who asked the security guard to get us out because we were pushing!?!? haha everyone just laughed at them. i told them not to worry, and that sex on fire wouldnt be long.
highlight songs- joes head, pistol of fire, manhattan (much better live) kotr, trani, arizona and black thumbnail
10/10 for me.
p.s cold desert is so much better live. actually scratch that, all the new album sounds better live.

Steve (steve?), I agree, Manhattan is amazing live..I hadn't heard the recorded version when I saw it over the summer and it's really mindblowing, chills just thinking about it.

OMG! Last night was amazing. I can't believe they played notion! I really wanted them to play it but thought there was no chance. I wanted to see them do Taper Jean Girl but they never but I'm not dissapointed, it was awesome!!! They did king of the rodeo though, I don't think they did that the other 2 nights? The support band were crap...sorry to be so blunt but its true. I didn't see one person around me that liked them. Sometimes I felt like the only person around me that knew the songs but it didn't matter. The only thing I noticed is that after sex on fire, where I was standing people seemed to walk off and it seemed to clear a bit, don't know if anyone noticed? I don't know if people left or something but that would be pointless, paying to see a band for one song? Can't get over it, I want to go see them again, I might have to. Bring on Paris

I think i know which group of folk you meant. I saw a proper group of die hards go mental near the front when Joe's Head kicked in and another huge lot in the middle. Was Brilliant and Caleb was on superb form.

It was obvious a lot of people had only heard the new album and even then a few people near me only seemed to come to life through sex on fire and use somebody. I think they enjoyed it I think they just didn't know the stuff.
