Ziggy I have read all ur posts, you seem to have a problem with people having the exact opposite opinion to you and u seem to suggest that by voicing this opinion these people (myself included) are somehow defensive and argumentative. My point is that my opinion differs to urs it so happens I am very pro KOL evolving right now that doesnt mean I am being defensive, it doesnt mean i dont think a fan may critically assess various aspects of KOLs professional career it just means i disagree with you!!!

Well you've read wrong. I have no problem with people disagreeing with me, which would be silly considering I know my opinion is in the minority on this board. The only problem I have is people getting upset when I offer my opinion, which (definitely including yourself), they did. All I did was state my opinion and try to defend any points I made. I thought with my last post this silly arguing was over but you seem to want to through more fuel on the flame. Seriously, lets get over it -we have different opinions. Okay. Back to discussing music. Really.

thats so condescending!!
Just for clarification at no point was I upset with you for offering an opinion. It seems there has been a communication issue which I will accept 50% responsibility for! I am no longer discussing it cause its like talking to a wall. I'm out!!!

Seriously, because I just read through this entire thread again and I didn't do ANYTHING but offer my opinion and defend it. I read your posts as well and it seems you had a problem with my posts from point A and have been replying as if you are just trying to argue NOT about the music but with me. (ie. posting the definition of a forum, as if I wasn't completely aware of what one was) I am more than willing to discuss this band and their music and that's it. As I said before: Seriously, lets get over it -we have different opinions. Okay. Back to discussing music. Really.

ziggy and schucams, give it a rest the two of you. Youre acting like kids.lol. dont worry, be happy!
ziggy, like i said earlier, i respect your opinion, however you contradict yourself so much here. Maybe its just the way youre wording your replies or maybe im missing the point, i dunno. But you said you dont like bands totally changing their ideas and going into new styles and experimenting just for the sake of it?would that be a fair conclusion of what youre saying? If that is true, you also said that you prefer latter day beatles to early day beatles. the beatles changed their style so much, and experimented so much. why should things stay the same? youve just showed us that you like a band that have experimented this musical styles.
I dont want you to think this is a personal attack on you, i just want to know where youre coming from.

I understand -here is a thorough clarification. Two bands that I cited, Led Zeppelin and The White Stripes, I feel, have never changed their style. They have remained the same. Those are my two favorite bands and that is what I like. To know what to expect from a band, but always be satisfied because I love what I expect. While they were consistent with their styles, they still offer a huge library of songs. The Beatles did change A LOT. And part of my problem with them is their inconsistency. However, I don't think they should be brought into this argument because my opinion of them is extremely drastic from KOL. While I prefer consistency in the bands I listen to, The Beatles are an exception because while I have problems with the changes with KOL, I preferred the changes in The Beatles. I am listening to The Beatles decades after they came out. I heard their latter music first. And, like I said earlier, it is their latter music that I prefer. Their earlier stuff, while I appreciate it, isn't what I cherish. As for KOL, I prefer their earlier music, and I don't like some of the change they have made with BOTT and what we have heard of OBTN. What I like from them are the elements from their earlier albums that are still present: Caleb's vocals, Jared's distinctive bass line, etc. So let me rephrase my initial point: I prefer consistency in the bands I listen to. Generally, I do not like change because I end up liking either the way a band sounded before they decided to make big changes, or after they decided to make big changes. (With the Beatles, it was after. With KOL, it was before. Keep in mind, it was the latter/after Beatles that I heard first and learned to love as a band) How's that?

I get what you are saying there Ziggy, but do you not think you should either embrace the change or go put on YAYM and stop complaining?
The Kings are growing, they have no interest in stopping. Just be grateful they gave you YAYM.

Just be grateful they gave you YAYM. I'm offering criticism, which a fan is allowed to do. I'm also allowed to complain. I still listen and like the new music. I'm just disappointed with the change because it's not what I love from KOL. You can feel free to embrace their change. I'm afraid I can't change my personal taste in music. I am, however, very excited for the new album. I like Sex on Fire a lot and I LOVE Manhattan. I look forward to hearing everything else they have to offer.

Firstly i have to say ive not read all the posts on here but i completely agree with Pexbo you have made a very valid point. I dont think KOL are sellouts i just think they have grown as men and artists and their influences and styles have changed. You have to remember when they brought out YAYM they hadnt really heard any music other than gospel, neil young, johnny cash etc, so they took their influences from that, then they are thrust in to this world that they have never known before and see and experience different things, their musical influences become wider and they experiment with different sounds. what im trying to say is they dont have any want to write another YAYM because its not where theyre at, im glad they have matured and are wanting to give us fans different sounds, lets face it if they kept at the pace they were going during ASH one of them would probably be dead by now. I always agreed with an interview Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys gave about musically evolving, he said they dont live in the same place anymore, they dont experience the same things anymore so in two albums time they wont be writing about prostitutes in their town, or seeing fights in the street after closing time or tracky bottoms tucked in socks because their lives are different so their music will reflect that. ive probably rambled on so i apologise
